I went to this bowling place for a charity event Rock&Bowl.

it's a very very old fashioned bowling center - the interface of the scoring screens is sooooo old that there are even no short animations that you usually see in other centers (like: STRIKE! and an animation of jumping pins=))

they have two floors - lower level for 10pin bowling and top level for 5-pin bowling.

there is also a bar in the corner (at least on the lower level) with some snacks, burgers and soft and alcohol drinks.

and huge parking lot at the back.

nice place to go hang out with friends and have some fun bowling tournaments=)

I came here back last October on a Sunday afternoon with 4 other people using a Living Social voucher, but it wasn't until today I remembered wanting to write a review.

The deal was $32 for 2 hours of bowling, for up to 6 people. Upon arrival we were informed that the deal wasn't made properly or something and we would be expected to pay $20 additional to use it on the 10 pin bowling. Not very impressed and still didn't have a complete understanding of why they were justifying it, but to be honest it didn't seem worth fighting over when we just wanted to throw some balls at some pins and the voucher was a few weeks from expiry anyways. But really, it bugs me when they are really that insistent on nickel and dime-ing its customers on a fixed cost service. The lanes, balls, shoes, etc are already in the building and paid for. Just honour the voucher as you're supposed to and you'll leave a better taste in the customers mouth which makes for a higher likeliness of us returning. But I digress.

It had been a few years since I'd been bowling, but have to say it was actually a lot of fun. That said, when it comes to the facility itself, lets be clear: this is not a fancy or high end location by any stretch of the imagination.
The interior was really dated, the digital scoreboards were tempermental and required staff assistance numerous times to correct weird errors taking place, and the lane itself had a weird sticky patch which made for a bit of a variable when going into your throw. The tv in the room playing a football game at the time had a horrible picture (all stretched and pixelated), and there was really bad music playing at very loud levels. There was us and maybe 3 other lanes being occupied at the time, and one of our players complained about not being able to find a ball with big enough holes (insert dirty joke here).

In the 2 hours we were there we played 2 games and if nothing else, I can say we did have some fun with it. The problem is that while the bowling itself is 4 stars of fun, the downfall is the facility and its staff, leaving for a 2 star experience.

Really, this is a 3.5 star place; pleasant staff, not too busy, not too expensive, sparkling washrooms, and I like the silly loud music on the ten-pin floor.  Points off for some dinge: most things are well-worn, and sometimes the bowling computers go glitchy.

Okay so once in a while I don't feel like squeezing myself into a pair of but-clenching jeans, sucking in my belly, and flirting with somebody pointlessly for the night only to go home to a headache and a snoring boyfriend.

And guess what?  When it's one of those nights, I like bowling!  Bowling is a sport that needs to be treated as one and those who don't take it seriously should not go to Bathurst Bowlerama.  On any given Saturday night this five-pin firehouse is packed with a clientele most suitable for a remake of Cocoon, bowling their hearts out and loving it.   The joy this activity brings to them is heart-warming and I am so overtaken by their enthusiasm that my bowling has improved (I was even asked to join their league).

If the bowling experience doesn't do it for you, the kitsch factor of the place will, and if that doesn't do it for you, then a chocolate offering out of one of the league ladies' boxes of Russell Stover will forever seal your relationship with this Toronto institution.

I went to bathurst bowl to check out the different alleys in my city.  Right now I am not driving so public transit is the option. I was suprised how easy it was to get there by public transit. I got there and I was litterally the only one in the alley for about 1 hour and half.   Since it was pretty quiet I was pretty much treated really well there.  They tried to answer my questions very quickly.  When a huge group of people came in they asked me if I wanted to move to a quieter lane politely.  The place could use a reno since it seems like that place hasn't really done any new reno for their layout design in a very long time, but the place was clean and the music wasn't too loud.
