I must admit , I generally head down to the Ming Wo outlet right by my house when I have kitchen needs. It may be cheap and lazy, but...well that describes me.
That said if I want something a bit more designer and/or a bit more basic I head here. I know that's kind of a dichotomy but the fact that they branch out a bit in brands means they do have some of the more interesting designed gadgets. On top of that they seem pretty concerned with stocking just about everything a cook would need tool-wise so this is a good place to go for a zester or mallet or some other goodies a chef would appreciate.
So yes, I'd definitely send most people to Ming Wo first, but in a pinch Basic Stock has what you need and maybe something interesting you hadn't thought of as well. -

Basic Stock even makes mixing bowls look cool. The store products are fanned out in spacious displays -- tempting those who are hungry to cook.
Setting up my ideal kitchen would put me into a big hole of debt, but at least I know that between Ming Wo and Basic Stock I could get everything I've yet to imagine. You'll likely find products in multiples, coming in a variety of sizes, and some even with the choice of color.
I do also like that Basic Stock's website has pictures and descriptions of their stock, so if you are someone on the hunt for an ultra-specific item you need not venture to the store unless they carry it. Also good for browsing. -

One of my best friends manages this Basic Stock location on West 4th Avenue, but that's not why I'm a fan of this newly renovated cook shop. Carrying a wide and cool collection of cookware for everyone from the gourmet chef to the beginner baker, it's a fun store to peruse and will almost certainly have the kitchen gadget, machine, or utensil you're looking for.
One item I personally love and promote: Saeco's Talea Ring Plus, a fully automated espresso maker designed by BMW! -

Basic Stock is great when you need basics for the kitchen. I love the layout of the store, wide open spaces, open shelving, white and brown woods....
Newly renovated, the store carries cookware, entertainment and everything in between store has something for all, and of all sorts of items to look at or buy: Cuisinart, Saeco, All Kind French Skillet Sets, Henckels Knives, Emily Henry bakeware, Maxwell Williams flatware, Good Grips gadgets and coffee and tea appliances. They've been in business for so long, that they know what they're doing, so go and check it out.
