I LOVE YOU! No really, I love you.
No, I mean it. I travel. I shop. I travel. I shop. And well, I mostly come back empty handed. But half an hour skipping around this little shop and I have a truckload of pretty things to try on: dresses, flowy shirts, ethereal accessories. The staff are sweet and helpful, grabbing sizes, taking your treasures and starting rooms for you. I think it's pretty much a guarantee that I'll walk away with at least 1 or 2 things on every visit. Even their window displays melt your heart. The jades potted in what looks like miniature old pianos, classic. I wish I had one of these in my window too!
Plus, if you catch them at the end of the season, you can get some pretty good deals. But even at full price, it's well priced with clothing from $40-150 ish at regular price. I was also told today that they sometimes have specials of the week, like belts on sale on Tuesdays.
So, Barefoot Contessa (whom I used to just think of as a cooking show) this is dedicated to you:

Another reason why I adore Main Street. Barefoot Contessa has the cutest / prettiest clothes and jewelery. I wish they had more variety of dresses and tops, but the selection is still fabulous.
The sales girl was friendly and super helpful. She was so relaxed and patient with me that I even felt bad for not ending up buying anything. However, I will definitely be back to look again!
Keep in mind that this store closes at 6PM on weekdays. (Not sure about Friday) I had only 15mins to shop. -

I have always loved this store, or at least the one on Main. I went in yesterday and fell in love with so many of the reasonably priced necklaces and bracelets. I bought a really pretty one for a friend that just had a baby. Only $22!!
There are super cute dresses, I'm coveting the one with little red bows printed all over it. I'll be back... :) -

Can something be too pretty or pretty in a bad way? This is what I think of some of the dresses here, a lot of ruffles and bows. Maybe just right for someone in a more romantic mood. Still, find one of their more understated pieces and it's beautiful pretty. Their accessories and jewelry are also good pretty. I'd say definitely go, if you're into pretty of any kind.
It's three-and-a-half stars rounded up. -

This is probably my favourite shop in Vancouver. The clothing is feminine, unique and beautiful, and I always get compliments on the pieces that I've bought here.
Also, for a boutique shop, the prices are very reasonable (comparable to "big box" stores). The staff is super friendly, and they have all kinds of neat knick knacky things at the front. (I saw elf soap when I was in there the other day. How cool is that?!) I also love that when you shop here, you don't run the risk of looking like everyone else.
Highly recommended -

Barefoot Contessa has to be one of my favourite places to be reminded of how beautiful clothing, jewelry and trinkets can be.
On my most recent meander in, I was caught by the beautiful floral patterns and spring colours they had already. It made me want to put on a sun dress, grab my hat and go sit by the lake at the cabin.
I love that they always have a great selection of different items and a mix of clothing and jewelery. They aren't the cheapest shop, but no different than any of Vancouver's many other boutiques.
I recommend taking a look, and I also recommend popping in if you need to get a gift for a girl. There are lots of lovely little things to chose from. -

I love Barefoot Contessa!
Great gifts, jewellery, scarves, soya candles, trinkets and...DRESSES. I hate to let the cat out of the bag but I'm all about sharing the love and Barefoot Contessa has dressed me for the part on many an occasion.
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a film premiere and of course had 'nothing' to wear so stopped in on the way home from work; in under 30mins (total record dress shopping time for me!) I was in, out, and on my way in the cutest little party dress that was perfect for the event.
Bc they order a limited number of each size (ensuring you and your evil twin aren't running around town simultaneously in matching outfits) it's best to keep this place on regular rotation to ensure you don't miss out on that party dress gem.
Service has always been friendly, personable and helpful - now how many places can you consistently say that about? -

The first sound to enter my ears when I walked through the door of Barefoot Contessa was that of English accents, Micheal Jackson and laughter...well, I guess that would be three sounds, but you get what I'm saying don't you? This lovely audio clash provided the perfect atmosphere for this gorgeous shop on Commercial Drive.
The aforementioned English accent was coming from a gentleman who was waiting for his girlfriend who was trying on outfits in the dressing rooms. Him and one of the very knowledgeable staff members were having an argument, nay, a discussion on the variations in size depending on international region and how this contributed to how hot the dress looked or not...obviously! I had to get in the discussion while perusing the very pretty, unique, sexy and demure dresses, as well as sweet, ruffly, cheeky tops, skirts and trousers.
Amid the witty banter you will find an amazing selection of locally designed jewellery, nearly an entire wall devoted to sparkly baubles! There are many unique accessories from head wear to scarves and mitts. Prices are as expected but the odd sale item will have you scouring the racks. I picked up a beautifully tailored white button up top at a bargain price. I will absolutely be back for more entertainment and apparel! -

Such a cute and wonderful store!! With manikins sporting a wide variety of super pretty dresses, we decided to pop in here to check it out. We were greeted by two fabulous ladies and as we were carrying little plants with us, were struck up into conversation about them. Not only were the ladies very nice, but they were also super helpful with suggestions on where to get plant items on The Drive. Bonus!
The shop is full of everything a girl needs to be swathed in femininity. You are greeted with tables and display stands full of trendy jewellery that matches not only with the theme of the store, but with all of the garments. The majority of the store consists of dresses of all colours and varieties, along with a few tops, sweaters, and skirts. There is even a small children's section in the back! Dresses are a little on the pricey side ($100+ for most) but they look to be one-of-a-kind's that you won't find at most stores.
I'll definitely be back when summer finally shines through and dresses are needed for tea parties and general shenanigans! -

Beautiful clothing fill the windows, covering the headless mannequins and always making me stop to get a better look. Perfect little dresses that scream feminine beauty. Oh, I found the perfect litle dress for me but I know there will always be another one waiting for me. Their impressive turnover of new stock keeps my heart racing.. The prices are decent. The quality is exceptional. Another good store on the drive. Another reason for me never to leave.

My goodness, this store is like a princesses dream closet. The dresses, skirts, shirts, and jewelry all scream femininity. I could see myself wearing everything that is sold in this store.
To top it off, the girls who work here are fabulous. They're super nice, talkative, and never pushy.
The only qualm I have, and it's not even big enough to warrant a lower rating, is that I bought a $55 skirt, only to see the same exact one sold at an online store for $20. Being a business, I can understand, but I was still a little sad.
Nevertheless, whatever occasion, you'll find something at Barefoot Contessa. -

Felt at home when I walked in and MIA was on play. Was greeted, poked around, found a few things and was offered a changeroom. The shopgirl was lovely, bringing me things she thought I might like and calling their other store when I wanted a size I couldn't find. I picked up a tank on the pricey side so I decided not to splurge on jewelry too, even though there were lots of charming things to chose from.

Yay! I heart this place! There is a minimal amount of each piece here to ensure you won't spot 45 other people wearing the same thing as you! And they have a great little accessories section - with really gorgeous jewelry and fun house stuff! Even the appearance of the store itself is appealing... its commercial drive shopping at its best!
