What a find!!! Barcey's Coffee is my new favorite place to drink coffee, write, drink, coffee, write, drink coffee and maybe even have a bagel... Friendly owners/staff cater to the enormous variety of customers on a street straddling Brooklyn and Queens.

Equal exchange coffee is served, specialty sandwiches and bagel basics. Brunch is served on Saturdays & Sundays. Nice space, clean and well-kep, beautiful, not-too-loud(!) music plays while the joint bustles. And, a very clean bathroom.

    Casual, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

A really cute little cafe that is situated minutes from my home, I've enjoyed the place a few times already.

Although the coffee is not what I would call third wave or artisan, it does the trick when in need.

I also ordered a tomato basil sandwich which comes on nice focaccia bread.  This sandwich was really really great!  One of those sandwiches you are disappointed at how quickly you wolf down.

Did I forget the wifi?  Endless open wifi.  That and the sandwich are enough to rate high.  But I didn't even mention the owner.  She is super nice and friendly, and often there.  We're lucky to have her spot in the neighborhood!

We visited Brooklyn last week and went to Barcey's for Saturday brunch. It was fabulous. The food was Deeelicious and beautifully presented. people were friendly and seemed to know their regulars. I particularly like the atmosphere...trendy AND "real neighborhood" feel.  Living in California I am over sentitive to the over trendy FAKE feel of some of our touristy places. (and sorry I saw a bit of that in Brooklyn---that's NOT what i want to see happen to New York) Barcey's has the new age feel and food and coffee--that I appreciate in California-- with the keep it real, local neighborhood, friendly  acceptance of all,  that i expect and relish in New York...we'll definitely visit again when in New York.

I like this little quaint coffee house. the food presentation is nice and the food tasted good. I would have liked a menu with more brunch options. There's Wifi, a nice perk. I would have rated Barcey's 5 stars, but my wife and I waited to be served about ten minutes considering there was only one other table with patrons. I'll still recommend Barcey's.

    Really old-school modest college-town-style coffeehouse.

The crowd seemed to be a mix of hospital workers, local families, and arty transplants. The staff was cheery, although seemed a bit harried, and the coffee was pretty good.

We came for brunch;  not exactly brunch in the usual sense as they don't serve alcohol, but brunch in the sense of, "let's get something different than diner food that might be egg-based." My breakfast burrito was pretty great; realll cheesy and the tortilla was pretty doughy, but it worked on a super-filling & hearty level.

Sort of a nice mid-ground between the Northeast Kingdoms and Tandems of the world and the usual diner breakfast.

In a neighborhood that is a cafe desert, this place is absolutely an oasis. Fair- traded, fresh coffee, a selection of seasonal mocha and hot chocolate drinks for all you Starbucks types and solid Wifi via Cablevision's hotspot are the standouts.
I'm taking away two stars for lack of wall decoration, plastic furniture, and slight waiting room atmosphere. Nothing that can't be fixed though and this is definitely a god-send in this nabe and deserves your patronage.
I just think that there is room for improvement and giving 5 stars just because you're excited that there is a decent cafe in your hood defeats the purpose of the rating system in my opinion.

Just left Barcey's for a morning coffee and snack.

I like the idea of a trendy little place in Bushwick. It looks like a great place to camp with your favorite laptop or iPad...

    And the bad:
I brew more flavorful coffee at home
    Pastries are sub-par
Also beware 10 dollar minimum for credit or debit cards

    Synopsis:
This is a place that serves the same thing every aluminum food cart in manhattan sells, but with a nice aesthetic.

Great coffee and sandwhich shop in Bushwick.  Trendy, comfy and convenient for working on your laptop or talking amongst friends. Music is a bit loud during lunch time though.

Try the ham and brie sandwhich or the Barcey's club - both excellent!
They have a lunch special that includes chips or salad and drink for $8.95. Perfection!

I guess I'm the first not to be impressed by this tiny cafe.

The tea is, in a word, bagged.  The sandwiches are ok.  The pastries are kind of ok.

But the great travesty is you cannot even order a cup of coffee in porcelain.  I don't know how to review a cafe that only offers disposable cups.  It makes the entire enterprise, I confess, feel rather disposable itself.

They let me camp out there on my computer for a little while.  Decent coffee enough seating to get buy.  Wish it had more nightlife maybe a few acustic performances and was open late into the night.

Overall a nice spot to have a sip of coffee and free wifi!  Oh and the people who work there are friendly and cool.

I am fortunate enough to live 3 blocks away from this fantastic establishment. This is way more than just a coffee shop, this is a place of welcoming comfort. The owners Christina & Ron are 2 of the most vibrant, positive and friendliest people that I have met and they go above and beyond out of the way to make sure that everybody has a great experience at Barcey's.

As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the staff either by name or a welcoming statement with attention on you and your cravings at the moment. Of course there are many varieties of coffee to satisfy even the pickiest sipper but the fresh food there is the hook in the jaw for me. There are sandwiches, salads, fresh made bagels, smoothies and the such but I highly recommend the Barcey's Club sandwich. Just order it and you'll thank me later ;) And if you keep an eye out on the menu there is always something new & delicious to try.

The atmosphere here is so relaxing that you will order just about anything just to stay there a bit longer to soak up the ambience. I sometimes find myself here for at least an hour after I finished my meal vibing to the Staff's musical selection while surfing on my iPad with my son. I'm definitely not the only one, on any given day you will find Screen Play Writers, Artists, Musicians, Doctors, Nurses & Students...not I don't use the word Hipsters sorry. Don't be surprised if you get into a friendly conversation with a regular, it is 1 big family at Barcey's.

My favorite addition to the Barcey's Coffee experience is the addition of bi-weekly & monthly events such as Open Mics, Book Readings, Art Galleries and much more. This place is truly Heaven sent and if you are closeby and haven't checked out this place yet then you are missing out. Oh yeah, there is a newly added and delicious Saturday & Sunday brunch menu with some of the most freshest and delicious food that I have eaten in the area.

    Final Verdict...

    Pros:
    - Delicious, freshly prepared food made to order.
    - Friendliest and attentive Staff.
    - Great environment and ambience.
    - The BARCEY CLUB sandwich!
    - Special events.

    Cons:

I love this place!  It is super sunny and spacious and caters to so many people in the neighborhood including old school locals, new school hipsters and artists, and the hospital staff down the street.
it has a fabulous menu including various breakfast and lunch options (including veggie and vegan).  I love the yogurt parfait, the brie sandwich, and the (soy milk) peanut butter shake.  A big added bonus- the owners are nice and are a part of the community.  They don't allow dogs inside, but are sweet enough to put a water bowl out for local doggies.

A godsend in this cafe-forsaken neighborhood. I've always ordered espresso or macchiato, which have been pretty good and definitely great given the location. The place is quiet, has wifi and the owner+staff are friendly.

The good news is that you can get a decent muffin or bagel with your coffee, and the owners are very attentive and nice. The coffee is fair, but way too expensive and not brewed well half the time. They have stiff competition with Wyckoff Starr.  Also, they should think about the ambiance and use of space a little bit more. Squeeze in another table or two, adjust the lighting, stay open past seven, and add a few more fresh veggie choices and now we'e gettin somewhere.

Having long searched for somewhere nice for coffee near my house, I was ecstatic to find this place! I liked the decor from the moment I stepped inside (bright red accent wall in the back), but I knew it was love when I saw that my latte had a leaf drawn on it, and the icing on the cake (to mix metaphors) was the adorable pillows with a map of the world embroidered on each. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and made me want to come back, which I will most definitely do!

good coffee, good people, tasty bagels, freakishly fast wifi, and a coffee shop where you can actually sit and relax and NOT feel like you're infringing upon a cafe/coffee shop's limited seating capacity. Barcey's is, in a word, sexy. The neighborhood should catch on and open more awesome places like this.

Went for coffee & bagels for breakfast.  Got the flavor of the day, which was quite smooth, and a whole-wheat bagel with vegetable cream cheese.  Reminded me of cafes that sold fair-trade coffee I used to frequent during college.

Cute decor, has wifi, variety of pastries & coffee flavors, and Christine (the owner) is friendly.

Great little cafe in the area!

I just moved a little closer to Barceys and so far, so good. I love supporting a business that has genuinely positive and happy people working there. Most of us start our day with coffee so why not get that with a smile too? It's infectious.
Their coffee is fresh and tasty but for us, the real draw is the Barcey's club. From the perfectly toasted focaccia to the garlicly aioli, this sandwich will make your toes curl! Can't wait to try more things.

I'm giving this two stars only because the owner is awful!!! She has such an attitude with her customers!  I notices some coffee grind in my coffee and asked her if that was an old pot or new.... Sometimes it may not have just settled.. Her response, as she stood there with one had at her waist and the other on the counter, " that's how coffee is" . What kind of response is that?. I asked her why all the attitude., and she just stayed mummm.. I have a feeling it may have to do with my tanned color..seeing by how chipper and fake she was with all the other customers.. All non- brown/yellow/ beige/black BTW!  Hey lady, you know you're in bushwick.. Right?  You won't do well in the heart of bushwick if word gets out that's how you treat your customers!  Not to
Mention you serve mediocre  food for a fortune! You really did forget the neighbor hood folks... Too bad all the  managers/staff are so cool...too bad.

I was visiting from L.A. and staying with friends who live right across the street from Barcey's, and woohaa was this place a savior!  I have to have my coffee EVERYDAY and I was spoiled to have a place with very nice people and good coffee and yummy pastries be so easily attainable!  i swear that I wished they had 32 oz sized cups because I could have easily ordered 3 large coffees, iced or hot, all in one sitting!  I miss walking across the street and getting my Barcey's coffee darnit.  One thing I totally missed out on was the espresso over ice cream heaven.  Just thinking about it makes me want to fly back 3000 miles east!
