We had a great time at a bar called Bar Fly in Montreal so for kicks we decided to try this place out for a drink before we headed out for the evening.
While the two are not affiliated, this was an equally charming, non-touristy little bar. It's not upscale at all, but perfectly comfortable.
The owner/ bartender was extremely nice and chatted us up a bit.
The rest of the clientele were older, local men - which was great - Perhaps it's their little refuge at that hour.
In any event, a perfect place for a couple quick drinks before heading out to more crowded / noisy places.
We sat outside and got to people watch which I recommend. Lot's of traffic walking by.
Biggest plus: It's on Saint-Jean - which is a far better street than the Grand Allee which is a complete tourist trap and overrated IMHO.
Check it out if you want drinks at a local joint.
