My wife & I were looking for somewhere to eat, & she was in the mood for a burger, so we decided to try Baldwin Street Burger. We were there at 5:45 on a Sunday night, & we were the only ones there when we arrived, although a few other customers came in & grabbed take-out while we were eating.
The place was very cool, & it's pretty unique as far as burger places go. It's very old-school & rural, with all sorts of rustic signs hanging on the walls. It has an old, market-type atmosphere inside with the butcher-block tables & everything.
My wife & I both opted for the Southern BBQ Burger, which comes with double-smoked bacon, coleslaw, smoked cheddar & bourbon birch beer BBQ sauce. The burgers were delicious, & cooked just right. The toppings were great, & the twice-fried french fries were excellent. My wife chose to get deep-fried pickles as the side with her combo, & I couldn't help but sneak one when she wasn't looking, & as good as the fries were, I should've chosen the pickles, too. The breading was super-crispy, & there was no way that the pickles were store-bought, off-the-shelf pickles. They were bursting with flavour & better than any other deep-fried pickles I've had anywhere else.
We got a kids burger combo & a BSB Bite combo for the kids. The BSB Bites are basically homemade popcorn chicken, & the kids loved it. Next time we'll get both of them the Bites.
Baldwin Street Burger has a decidedly upscale feel in a casual relaxed atmosphere, but the prices are definitely on the upscale side. For the two burger combos, & the two kids' meals, it came to just over $40 with taxes. Definitely not a cheap night out for burgers. The food was great & the service was excellent, so we'll definitely be back! -

The atmosphere and decor at Baldwin St Burger is pretty nice. I wish I would have stayed and eaten in rather that taking it away. Regardless, I thought the food was excellent. The beef patty had a more subtle, untampered, organic flavour to it. It was cooked to perfection. I'm looking forward to going back and bringing a friend or two so I can sample some of the other flavours ... buffalo wing burger, you're next on my list.
I met the owners and they were super nice people. Obviously passionate about food and texas-style BBQ and sourcing local, healthy ingredients. I'd love to see a bison burger added to the menu. We'll see next time I swing by. -

"Homemade" , "freshly made" , "high end" and so on.... I have had some of the very best and some of the worst burgers all over Canada and State side, having said that, the sign outside reads "Here's the beef"
Man was I "itchin" to try this place... So there I was, drooling aside, I couldn't wait to order up one of the custom burgers that seems to have had alot of time and effort put into the creation of each one.
I narrowed my selection down to the "Steak Burger" complete with smoked cheddar, sauteed mushroom and more. I added the poutine and pop to my burger for a whopping $14.00 bucks in total!
Now.. the place looks great the decor with the "olde tyme" whitby feel I can honestly say works.... and during my almost 20 minute wait for my meal I really got the chance to check out every detail (and no it wasn't busy, 2 tables that were clearing up to leave) I shrugged it off as the new place working the kinks out and getting comfortable with the new diggs.
I took my order to go and on the way to my car was waved to by whom I would have guessed was the owner, having a smoke with an employee ( I have nothing against smoking..but not a great sight to be seen) Saying to .."enjoy the meal"
Now to the meal...
I unwrapped the meal with care opened the box of poutine and cracked the soda... Took a knife and cut the burger in half so I could see this beauty from the side.....I dove right in with a chomp on the end and slowly chewed it, trying to absorb all the flavors... but thats where the romance ended.... I couldn't taste a whole lot... I was searching for flavor, it was dry.. the entire burger was dry. I was so hoping that with freshly delivered meat and the "fresh takes time" disclaimer on the wall I was going to get a really juicy tastey burger ,not the case here, sadly.
I moved on to the poutine and was pretty impressed with the fries (freshly cut) and the cheese curd was nice...gravy, I found a bit thin as it was not on the fries but penetrating the bottom of the box and kept the curd from melting over the fries (gotta have partially melted curd) sorry ya do ;)
(I did have some friends try this place out before writing this to see if it was just a one off and the experiences were almost identical)
Now, would I go back? Yes I will ... Having been in the restaruant business, I know that it takes some time to get things right and I always give a place a few tries before giving up.
Stay tuned... or try it and post it!
