First off, let me say that if your prime breakfast criteria is a 4.99 breakfast special, this is probably not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a breakfast that will please your pallet as never before, this is definitely the place you want to be.

We, along with our best friends, make a point of trying a different breakfast spot every weekend and this was our first visit to the Baker Street Cafe. As we would soon find out, this was to be an experience that was well worth the trip across the city. Hidden inside the Baker Street Cafe's rather nondescript exterior, we were surprised to find a cozy albeit rather eclectic setting with a good variety of seating options, from the normal tables and booths to easy chairs arranged for relaxed conversation around coffee tables. The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff were all very friendly and the service was excellent. The moment we stepped through the door we were greeted by the aroma of home made bread and cinnamon buns...a promise of great things to come...and the breakfast that followed did not disappoint. The menu has a wide variety of breakfast options that should satisfy every taste, from a conventional bacon and eggs breakfast (with a pleasantly surprising twist) to the more decadent fare, as well as breakfast for the more health conscious crowd. No matter what your breakfast taste, I'm sure you'll thoroughly enjoy the experience.

We will definitely be treating ourselves to more frequent visits to the Baker Street Cafe for breakfast.

I'm pretty torn writing this review as I came in for brunch recently and the service was ok...but the food...half of it was good and the other half was not so good.

We waited around in the rain for a good 20 minutes or so as BSC was packed!  It was raining outside but they were awesome and brought up mini muffins just minutes before we got there.  As we got inside they heard that one of the members in our group was sad that we missed them and brought them out for us again!  That's pretty awesome.

We were seated at a pretty cozy table by the door and after a bit our server came over and took our orders.  He brought a pot of coffee and some water.

I ordered the home made sausage patties as it sounded delicious.  After about 25-30 minutes our order came out.  Remember that everything here is made to order so it does take more time.

I really really really liked the fresh fruit that came with my meal.  I think that was about it.  The salad sucked.  The tomatoes tasted soggy like they were to ripe and sitting out all day after being cut the day before.  I wasn't a fan of my potatoes and the homemade sausage tasted like an overcooked and extremely dry hamburger.

The meal is kind of expensive as well and I have no problem paying for a decent meal but for $25 (with tip) I really disliked this meal.

Brunch, Brit Rock and Banana Cream Pie - Oh My!

Baker St. Cafe definitely belongs in Westboro. It has that trendy feel to it, complete with leather couches and coffee tables where you can eat your meal in loungey weekend mode. Rock icons decorate the walls along with a giant mural of the Baker Street Underground sign. Classic rock n' roll plays while you can witness the action of an open kitchen area in the back, and smell the deliciousness that is being prepared.

Once again, Smoked Salmon Benedict gets me. This is a wonderful meal, with perfectly golden hash browns and a lovely side of fruit salad. A full carafe of coffee is placed on your table so that you're never waiting for a refill. The lattes are also fabulous here. The last time I went, I was given a complimentary slice of homemade banana cream pie that was to die for.

The downside is that of all trendy Westboro joints: The price. You pay for the cool factor, and I rarely get out of here paying less than $20 for just myself. If you're looking for a cheap breakfast, this ain't it. But if you're looking to splurge then maybe you CAN get some Satisfaction!

Tough call on writing a review for these guys.  The food is really good, definitely a top notch breakfast.  The problem is the price, for two people it costs almost $50 ( tip included ).  That is simply to much for breakfast.  It is not as crowded as it used to be and I think this is because of the price increase.  The only thing on the menu that is not super expensive is the standard breakfast ( still $8 ) and doesn't include coffee.
If prices were cheaper I would go back.

Baker Street Cafe is actually located on Richmond Street in the Westboro neighborhood of Ottawa.  Decorated with rock and roll memorabilia, this is a simple neighborhood diner.

Breakfast on my visit included a generous portion of pancakes, which were quite delicious, however, the portions were supersized and I was unable to finish my meal.

Service was fine, this is a local diner, not a white table cloth establishment, so my expectations were as such.  A carafe of coffee was placed on my table, however, as I don't drink coffee, it was whisked away shortly after and apologies were made by the server who indicated that the "new guy" who gave me the coffee was simply enthusiastic.  The coffee served at Baker Street Cafe is of a organic variety, as noted on the menu.

Live music is planned for the weekends as well, however, I did not return for this, although it seemed it would be a relaxing venue to enjoy a meal and listed to live music to.

I felt that the prices were reasonable for the quantity of the food provided and had it not been for other local restaurants that I wanted to try on my trip to Ottawa, I would have returned.

Pretty good brunch but a little on the expensive side.
