What's not to like?! A wonderful new addition to the West Village. I've been here several times for drinks, brunch, and dinner and have never been disappointed. Overall, the staff is friendly, ever accommodating, and extremely professional. The bartenders are fabulous, easy on the eyes, and mix delicious cocktails. The waitstaff has always gone out of their way to make me and my friends feel at home, and the food is consistently delicious. A must have for dinner: the pappardelle with wild mushrooms and the brussel sprouts. For brunch, you cannot leave without trying the mushroom, asiago, and truffle omelette. And seriously, forget about Starbucks. They make the best latte you'll ever have. Ever.
Honestly, I'd give it five and half stars if only they had opened around the corner from me, but it's still worth the trip from uptown. I'll definitely be back! -

We stumbled upon this restaurant when we ventured around my hotel down the street.
Dinner was great; service a little inattentive albeit sweet.
Appetizer:
Scallops- done perfectly. Not over cooked and very flavorful
Entree:
Wild mushroom pappardelle - sooo tasty. Simple but delish
Dessert:
Blueberry lemon curd in a jar. Creamy goodness
Great for the neighborhood -

What I really love about this place is the view of the water which means a nice view of the sunset so try to make it around that time! On to the food - just ordered some small plates including the yukon mash, brussel sprouts, and the croquettes. All were quite tasty, the croquettes were delicious balls of fried goodness, unfortunately you only get three!
Nice, full drink menu. I would definitely go back, plus the service is top notch. Great date place too.
One complaint: Too many small children running around which I think is strange for a trendy establishment, but they are all out by 8 pm. -

Love Bakehouse, such a great & much-needed addition to way west. Food, beer selection, coffee all great. Smallish menu makes me happy because I am a bad decision maker & get easily overwhelmed.
Watching the sunset here is beautiful - 6pm in the last winter is optimal, no crowd, great views.
Have to dock a star for all the babies/kids. Glad their such a family-friendly stroller establishment, I am sure all the parents in the neighborhood are jazzed about this. But not my speed & have had a few instances of enjoying my beevo at the bar only to hear the shrill cries of a manhattan baby echoing behind me. -

Last Saturday was my 40th Birthday and my wonderful husband planned a surprise party for me - at BakeHouse! When I walked in I was completely enchanted by the space - a very expansive room built around the large bar area with a spectacular full wall view of the glittering lights on the Hudson River. You would think a place that was so open couldn't feel so cozy - but Bakehouse blasts that notion. The space is warm with beautiful lighting, restored vintage chestnut wood, hand painted walls - you really have to visit to understand. If I had a beautiful cabin in the country, this is what I would hope it would feel like after coming home from a long day out.
We sat at a lovely long table and were greeted by their delicious olive loaf and slices of baguette - all baked in house. The Olive Bread is AMAZING!!! I'm glad I didn't have too much as what came next was sublime.
The food was exceptional. A perfect menu. The salads and scallops my friends enjoyed were scrumptuous (hey -I was the Birthday girl - everyone let me try everything!!!) - the scallops had that perfect sear and sweet tender texture that is all to easy to ruin. My French onion soup was rich and warming - everything a good broth should be. I ate every drop.
Our mains were spectcular-especially my husband's Strip steak and frites - the beef was tender and rich, with an excellent crust and paired with a very nice sauce (although it was juicy enough!). I had a melt in your mouth Moroccan Lamb stew - perfectly seasoned and better than any tajine I had. Sadly, I was so wrapped up in my corner of the table that I didn't get to try my other friends' food (they were probably happy to have such amazng food to themselves) but everyone was absolutely thrilled with their meals - and cocktails (the champagne cocktail is lovely).
Maud and Philippe were wonderful hosts. Philippe even came out of the kitchen several times to check on us and make sure we were happy with the food, service, everything. In speaking with Philippe and Maud, we learned that they did pretty much everything to convert a complete mess of a space into a masterpiece. I couldn't believe it was anything less than the gorgeous place it is now.
I cannot wait to go back. This was the best birthday I ever had. And the tastiest.
Go now before everyone finds out about Bakehouse! -

A great new brunch option in Greenwich Village. I think the space and location are great -- huge windows with nice views of the Hudson. Came here on a recent Sunday with the family. The place was extremely crowded, which is a great sign, especially when you consider that I hadnt heard much of Bakehouse from the papers or online; in fact, I heard it through word of mouth from Mr. Pedro S.
The baked goods looked delicious and reasonably priced, although I didnt get them this time. I absolutely loved the espresso, though. Nice, hot, and strong. Perfect pick-me-up.
My sister devoured her french toast with diced up cinnamon apple pieces. Dad also devoured his eggs benedict with salmon.
I ordered the steak and eggs. The scrambled eggs were nice and buttery, as were the potatoes. Although I felt that there weren't enough potatoes -- only like three or four little pieces. The steak was a bit charred on the outside, and mostly cooked to order, although it was more medium, than medium rare, which was what I had ordered.
My only complaints were that the food took a bit to come as it was so packed. Maybe 25 minutes or so. So, perhaps, in the event of long waits, ordering a delicious pastry for the wait would probably be a good idea. The environment is also extremely loud. There's nothing to dampen the sound at all. Wood floors, concrete walls. Thick glass for insulation. It was quite hard to hear my dad where we were situated, which was near the back corner by the window. And that's a pity, because the music selection was quite good -- at least from what I heard while waiting in front, and when I went to use the restroom.
I definitely look forward to returning the next time I find myself in the brunch mood. The draft selection was great -- and I saw a fine liquor cabinet! This could also be a good late night bar option too! -

Cute little neighborhood spot for when we are lazy and want to eat somewhere close by. The view is pretty. We waited at the bar for a table to be cleared and I had a yummy rosewater cocktail. Once we were seated we got a bottle of red. I stared with the endive salad which was crisp and yummy. I then had the steak au poivre which was tasty but was more medium than medium rare which has reaffirmed that at most places I need to order my steak rare. He had the pappardelle with mushroom which he liked a lot. It's a little loud and very casual, but overall a cute spot to have an impromptu dinner or brunch with nice comfort food.

What a great addition, to not only the neighborhood, but the city. Bakehouse has only been open a few months, but it is already one of my favorite places to go. I have eaten here a few times and it never disappoints. It's off the beaten track, but worth the journey. The first thing you experience when you walk in the door is a great vibe that isn't pretentious, but comfortable and lively. I think having the bar in the middle of the restaurant adds to feeling inclusive. The staff makes you feel welcome and the food is right on.
The French Onion soup and steamed mussels were a perfect combination for me (along with a few glasses of wine). Another time I had the Bronzini, cooked perfectly and light. And of course, the fresh bread!
Looking on to the river gave Bakehouse a sense of serenity and intimacy, without ever feeling isolated. Just you and a hundred or so friends. -

Went for Sunday brunch. Fairly limited menu and all a la carte...but both omelets we sampled were exquisite. Unlike the overpriced and touristy Pastis, you could custom order the fillings including fresh mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes, several varieties of cheese, etc. Came with small but very tasty sides of home fries and salad. There was plenty to eat but we couldn't resist sampling their homemade baked goods and ordered an incredibly delicious croissant to have with our coffee refills.. The guy at the next table was eating a really nice looking burger so that will be what I order when we return for lunch or dinner.
Nice views of the Hudson River Park from the huge windows and charmingly restored interior in the style of the Harvey Auditorium at BAM, i.e., sections of plaster and exposed brick, great lighting. Service was attentive and courteous - the general manager came over to chat and helped settle a marital dispute over whether there was chocolate in the croissant (there was of course)!
Round 2:
Came back for dinner and sampled Coney Island Lager, a delicious amber brew on tap. We ordered the house specialty Bakehouse burger I had my eyes on at brunch. Apparently the chef spent a month experimenting with various combinations of ground meats until she got what she was looking for - the menu calls it a "house blend burger" and it's served with caramelized onions, ricotta fresco and Danish Havarti with a side of golden shoe string fries...but the big story is the homemade bun which is honey brown on the outside with a slightly sweet soft white bread inside which instantly gave the Bakehouse burgxer a delicious and unique identity. It's always nice when the medium rare burger you ordered actually arrives cooked as requested (just slightly pink in the center).
For starters we had the garden salad which was fresh and lightly dressed. We also had the steamed mussels in a light, mildly spicy white wine and saffron sauce which provided a good excuse for dunking their homemade bread. We took home a couple of excellent homemade scones for dessert. The service was prompt, attentive and friendly. We've only been twice so far but it's easy to feel at home there... And since it's about 100 ft from our front door it will surely be a frequent stop. -

Came in to get a drink on an unseasonably nice day in march. Very friendly vibe and atmosphere that feels like a club house on the Hudson. Unpretentious understated cool. Great relaxing music, will definitely come back here to eat, something tells me it will not disappoint.

Nice Saturday brunch. Huge windows and light, great place for a group. Waiters very friendly and service prompt. Our eggs cooked to order were hot, your choice of 3 toppings. No toast served so I asked. Our waiter brought out hot toasted baguette, even better! I will definitely be back for brunch and to try dinner.

I just left Bakehouse and I have now found my new favorite West Village gem!
Beautiful and spacious gastropub/bistro. Great for large parties or intimate affairs. Large windows overlooking the hudson river. The service was spectacular. Most importantly the food was sensational. Organic and fresh. I had the Chicken Paillard sandwich with fries (best fries I have tasted). The sandwich melted in my mouth and the multigrain bread was delicious. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is from 9 to 4 and lunch starts at 11am. From 7:30 am until 9am you can get your morning coffee/tea and pastries. The menu is diverse and creative. Cheers to the chef. Can't wait to go back for dinner as the bar is enormous and there are long stunning wooden tables for larger groups. This is a true find and can't wait to bring my family and friends! -

Very cute atmosphere with big windows. We were easily seated when we went there the first couple of times but now that this has been discovered there is bit of wait. Looks like a lot of families go there because there is space for strollers and high chairs.

Went here for dinner last night with my husband and two children and had a wonderful dinner. My daughter had the burger which was amazing and came with the best french fries, we were actually fighting over them and my son could not get them into his mouth fast enough. My son had the roast chicken which was so juicy and seasoned to perfection. I had the pappardelle with mushroom sherry sauce and I loved it. My husband said the red snapper was the best he ever had. The space is absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to go back in the warmer weather when they will have the front windows open to the view of the Hudson. Of course, the experience is always made better when the owners come over to say hello and make sure that everything is perfect. Definately plan to make this a regular spot.

Came here multiple times over the past few days - for dinner and brunch. Situated near the water, I was surprised to see that this place existed as I had seen virtually no press on it. During dinner I had the Jamon Serrano to start on a bruschetta as well as the hamburger - both were excellent. For brunch I have now had the Tuna Nicoise as well as the white truffle oil omelette. My fiancee had the 3 eggs any style which were quite tasty. I would recommend this place to anybody for both brunch or dinner.

Bakehouse is that restaurant youve come to the west village for but hasn't existed since Florent was driven out by rent inflation. In this quaint-gone-chic neighborhood Bakehouse brings back a sense of home for its neighbors or visitors. Their lattes are the best in the neighborhood. Try the quiche and pastries. My one-year old daughter goes to bed saying "cookies" after an afternoon here.

Can't overrate this place...by far the best new restaurant in the village in years...burger is better than spotted pig...yes I just said that. Scallops, calamari salad, mussels and horatio's meatballs are amazing. Great vibe and a lot of fun...you need to check it out.

Hmmm....dreaming of the most perfect almond croissant I had this morning at Bakehouse - a delicious flaky, slightly crispy outer layer with a delicate chewy, buttery inside and just enough filling to wish you had more! It truly was one of the best in town and rivals the croissants from any Paris patisserie. I can't wait to go back and sample the other baked goods along with the best cup of joe in town!
Atmosphere is so comfy and spacious that I brought friends back for dinner tonight and we were all very impressed. A beautiful wine/cocktail list and I had a simple house salad and roasted chicken that was truly a delicious meal .
This restaurant will be around for a long time and I'm thrilled that it is in my neighborhood. -

This is my new favorite restaurant! Fantastic location in the West Village. Went last weekend with a group - we all tried different dishes, and everything was delicious. The roast chicken, and strip steak were especially good, as were the salads. Love, love, love the farm to table philosophy. The service was perfect, understated and efficient. The ambiance is wonderful, the views of the Hudson enhance the whole experience.

This is a new West Village gem that hasn't been discovered by the "loud voiced girls" that seem to be invading WV restaurants in droves! Good, flavorful food; friendly service and bread that's to die for. It's well worth the walk to the Westside Highway.
