Been here quite a few times and it never fails how great the food is here!!! I've been to other Thai restaurants here in Halifax and this is by far the best. The Pad Thai, Cashew Chicken and Mango Salad are to die for!! The Spring Rolls are also great!!

I'm not concerned about whether or not a restaurant gives me a lot of food. I'd rather they give me good food.
So yes, I got a lot of Pad Thai, sprouts and salad for my $ (from the lunch menu).
A fair quantity of really quite awful pad thai. The noodles were teetering on the verge of mush and with a taste of burnt garlic. Really, wholly unappetizing.
I'll head elsewhere in the future for thai. -

Wasn't overly impressed....
Spring Rolls are not even close to Ivory Thai Cuisine
The Panang wasn't as good as Talay Thai
The Nua Prik King (Spicy Beef) wasn't really that spicy
I personally don't like going downtown Halifax for lunch or diner, it's kind of a pain in the ass if you're not a hipster and have a car... maybe I'm just bitter because I tried to find a parking spot for over 20 minutes and got a parking ticket :/ -

In a city with a disproportionate number of Thai restaurants, Baan Thai has always been my favourite. The old location was very cool, hidden in an alley, I had no clue what I was in for the first time I went. The move to Blower's made the place easier to find, and the food remained great.
Lunch specials from noon to 2:30pm mean you can get a delicious filling meal for around $10. I am a fan of the green curry chicken made Thai spicy. The pad thai is also very good, and comes in a size that makes sure you won't leave hungry.Listed in: Best Restaurants for Lunch

Baan Thai has been a "go-to" delivery place for my husband and I since our kids were born six years ago. In search of a fast, reliable meal delivered to the door that wasn't Chinese or pizza, we'd pick up the phone and call Baan Thai. Over the past six years, we've ordered so often we were practically on a first name basis with the delivery guy.
The food is enjoyable, but sometimes I find myself thinking "Hey, I could have made this!" for the price you pay. Okay, maybe not the spring rolls although I definitely feel I could tackle many of the common mains such as the cashew chicken and ginger pork that follow the basic pattern of sauce + protein + noodles and vegetables. More authentic Thai mains such as the spicy chicken and pad thai might be a bit of a stretch for a mild dish lover like me. I will also say that I sometimes find the food has quite a salty aftertaste.
Over time, the portions seem to have decreased and sometimes the food seemed tired after its time between the restaurant and our house. Overall, I find the delivered food so-so in terms of value and portion size.
Where Baan Thai really shines is eat-in lunch. Lunch specials offered on Thursday and Friday include a spring roll, thai salad and rice as well a lunch-sized portion of a main dish. Prices range from $9.95 to $12.00 for the generous and varied portion making it an excellent value. The service is very attentive and without the extra time in the delivery vehicle, the food just seems to taste better. It's fresh, hot and delicious.
The year-old location on Blowers Street makes the food taste even better. The large windows at the back of the restaurant allow loads of natural light to flood the dining room. It's almost as if you are eating outside. The upstairs location also lends an air of calm as you do not see any car or pedestrian traffic from the dining room.
If you have a hankering for Baan Thai, go for eating in, especially for their lunch specials.Listed in: Downtown Lunch Under $10

What a great spot. I have tried lots of different Thai spots around Halifax and this is the best one by far.

Want a relaxing place to eat? This is one restaurant that won't disappoint. Just don't be in a rush.
Another open later to add onto my after work dinner options. They advertise they are open until 10pm, but when I asked when they closed they told me 9:30. Must have been because I was the only one there.
The meal was delicious. Spring rolls were divine. I had the spicy noodle dish, it was made with just enough spice. Not overpowering, but enough heat so it made me slightly sniffy. Great for clearing up that last bit of head cold! They have some unique beverage options as well, I opted for a beer from Singapore. Very nice.
Service was attentive but not speedy. I usually take the same approach with food as to tea... the good stuff takes time. It was well worth the 1/2 hour wait for the main course.
When you dine here, take a minute and look at the art on the walls. They are covered in wood carvings, they really need to be seen, truly works of art. The decor is relaxing and natural. -

Baan Thai used to be one of my favorite Thai restaurants until a recent unpleasant experience that made me vow never go to back. It was a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was relatively empty. We ordered some chicken skewers as appetizers, which took 40 minutes to come. After taking a couple of bites, we discovered that the chicken skewers were raw inside. We sent them back and they seem unfazed and didn't even apologize for the uncooked chicken and asked if we wanted another order of it which we said yes because we were starving at this point. 20 minutes later, the chicken skewers come back and this time, they were cooked. Then our Pad Thai came 10 minutes later, which was good. The experience was unpleasant because of the uncooked chicken, wait time, and their disregard for customer satisfaction. No apologies, no offering the appetizer as free, no nothing. So, I can gladly say I'm never going back. Instead, I've been eating Thai food at Talay Thai, which I would recommend over Baan Thai.
