Review from Ben B.
After losing yet another massage therapist to maternity leave (god, you people are selfish), I popped by Béo to undo the damage of being on 20 hours of airplanes and 14 hours of airports over the course of two days. Even though I limped in like a wounded gazelle, I was welcomed warmly and impressed with the new renovations that made for a more open entrance into this chic downtown Dartmouth spa, and more room up top for nail treatments from what I've been told.
My therapist for the day was quiet, calming and really knew her stuff. As someone going to massages regularly for about three years (health plan FTW), I can go into massage auto-pilot, knowing pretty much what they're going to do and in what order. This lovely lady had very different techniques that seemed to work wonders on the specific trouble areas instead of your average relaxation dealie. Plus I'd argue that they use the best lotions in town...it's almost worth a visit for that alone.Listed in: Downtown Dartmouth Domination, Looking Good, Feeling Gorgeous, Let Your Backbone Slide

Review from Sue A.
I paid my first visit to Beo Spa for a manicure/pedicure combo yesterday.
The spa is located in a modest older house in downtown Dartmouth with lots of on-street parking close by. The ambiance was nice, modern with a touch of zen. It still had a few rough edges like the strange coat rack which would have been more in place in a student apartment.
The mani/pedi room appears to be the former living room. It has four large recliners and three manicure stations, making it a great place to come with a group of girls. With a great view out the large picture window and little or no traffic outside, I found it to be relaxing.
My pedicure, and I'll admit upfront I that I am a pedicure addict, was very good. It started with what might have been an overly long foot soak followed by a very professional service. There was a good selection of OPI polishes-- my fav! My flipflops were carefully slipped on after my treatment with no smudges.
As for the manicure, I am no regular manicure recipient and I will disclose my visit was motivated by a Groupon, so I am easy to please. As one other reviewer said, there was no soaking, but I had a nice massage and my nails ended up looking very good. The aesthetician suggested a nice shape for my nails and made sure my nails were all the same length. It's 24 hours later and the polish is still on my nails so I consider it a success.
I did wonder why the manicure was doesn't first as fingernails are generally a lot harder to keep from smudging than toenails. They didn't seem to use a drying product like Drip Dry but I escaped with no smudges so I was more than happy.
I would have been a bit disappointed if I had paid full price for both services ($104) without the Groupon. While that price is highend and the spa tries hard, I would not consider it to be in the highend tier of spas in the city. An A for effort, but it doesn't have the polish or feel of some of the higher end spas.Listed in: 30 Day Yelp Challenge

Review from Jeannine W.
Dartmouth, NS
Beo Spa has a lovely atmosphere, great decor, lots of wonderful products. But, I went looking for hair and makeup for a special event, and after wasting two hours and over 100 dollars, came home and washed all the five layers of powdery makeup off (they only have a gallery of powder - leaving me looking corpse-like) I had asked for smoky eyes in brown tones and got a bunch of silver grey powder piled on. There was no use in saying anything - this was obviously the best she could do and all she had to work with. I would definitely go for a big practice-run if you are thinking wedding day makeup - make sure you aren't stuck on your big day.

This salon has a beautiful chi-chi French flair to it- from the chic name, to the classy décor, (the salon's exterior looks like some of the mansions I saw during a recent French getaway, and the interior features French-imperial inspired decor ooh-la-la-loveit!) the place oozes sophistication. So when I had a big meeting in Dartmouth and wanted a special 'do for the occasion, I decided to book an appointment here and experience the spa for myself.
The style was perfect. I was treated by the lovely Nicole, who gave my natural waves that extra oomph I wanted.
I left the salon satisfied with my hair- it wasn't a mind-blowing experience, and it's possible that I could have had my hair styled just as well at a different salon, but I did enjoy the atmosphere and friendly service I received. -
Review from Laura P.
Anyone who reads my reviews knows that Im easily swayed by pretty things. Art, sartorial measure, good lighting, yes, thats the idea. But what I must reaffirm, is that pretty things include the prettified process-- and that, my friends, is the glory of the spa experience.
Beo was a trial run for me. The brief word "Beo" sounded fun, and as an attemptress of new local holdings, my day out in dartmouth would include a visit to this friendly spa. I found it to be cordial, while still lighthearted and relaxed. Met with a smile as I entered, the receptionist's apt tone set the pace for what would be the remainder of my visit. I'd love to say I was going in to try the Blueberry Soy Sugar Scrub (swoon), but my lapse for luxury is one that must be reserved for spaced occasions. Today I would be getting a hair trim and color. Fair enough.
My stylist, Nicole, was a gem, and gave me exactly what I wanted. Personable and great energy, I enjoyed chatting, as there was none of the awkward push for conversation. (We've all been there.) An appropriate length removal and highlights to give me a boost, I was impressed down to the final style. Very nice.
The prices at Beo seem reasonable. Its clearly established on the pricing chart, and for my (very) long locks paid $90 for coloring, and the cut + style took me over another $40. Hair-dos are pricey these days in general, and with the solid result I received, I consider Beo Spa a worthy investment.
Certainly curious to head back sometime with such a spectrum of fun spa services. Facials, body rubs+wraps, massages and more... I had a thorough peek at what this spot has got in store, and it all looks good to me.
