Mmmmm yummy.
They have great nuts here, and a variety of other things (I haven't tried their dried fruit, but have tried their veggie chips, they were delicious!)
I am especially addicted to their pistachios and often drop by here on the way home to pick up a bag. -

While I was shopping for groceries along Lonsdale, I discovered Ayoub's. Being my curious self, I wandered into the store and was greeted by a friendly Asian cashier. She was really helpful and explained the process of how the fruits were dried and how the nuts are roasted. She even showed me the roasting pot in the back. Since she knew it was my first time, she introduced me to a lot of their products and let me sample some.
The store is clean, with really beautiful chandeliers and beautiful Persian decor. The bins containing the fruits and/or nuts are beautifully designed as well. The store is well stocked with dried fruits, nuts, Persian sweets and baked goods. There is parking on the street.
Although the nuts and dried fruits are a little bit pricier than the ones you find at grocery stores, these nuts are roasted in store and the fruits are dried without any added sugar preservatives. You can definitely tell that these were of better quality and taste!
My fav things frome here are: Dried figs, dried rolled apricot (tastes like candy!), dried pineapple, and lime and saffron pistachios.
Would definitely be back for some more Persian goodies! -

After looking online for stores in the GVRD that sell specific nuts, I found Ajoub's. I noticed online that he had multiple varieties of Pistachio's. This peeked my interest as I found what I was looking now. So I decided to set out after work to drive over to North Van. I had a later day than planned at work and didn't get out til 5:30pm. So I drove to North Van from Port Moody, and arrived at 6:50pm. Pretty good for a Friday. I was shocked to find that the store closes at 7pm, on weekdays. But as I had 10 more mins, I was relieved. When I approached the store, the door was locked and a man and woman inside. I signaled to them that the door was closed, and they said they were closed. I checked my watch and it was only 6:52pm. They told me again that they were closed and to leave. How rude!
I won't make that drive again.
From what I could see behind a prematurely locked door, the store was clean and had a good variety. -

It's a really nice retail, kinda reminds me of the Crab & Evelyn home stuff in the malls.
they have these huge bins to buy all kinds of nuts, banana chips, dried fruit,...you can buy them fresh or in the pre-packaged ones, so they're into marketing their brand.
i bought the honey-glazed almonds, they did indeed tasted a bit different kind of sweetness, seems like it was less sugar to make me feel better.
think they also opened a new one on Denman... -

Impeccably clean and with dazzling chandeliers, this specialty Persian nuts and dried fruits shop along central Lonsdale is a great spot to hit up and treat yourself to a healthy and delicious snack.
The staff are friendly and helpful. If it's your first time, they introduce you to the products and let you sample a bunch of stuff. I bought the lime and saffron pistachios and roasted sour almonds ($6.99/lb) - yum! The dried figs are delish too!
It may seem expensive, but it's practically the same price as those snack-sized nut mixes at your typical grocer - just way WAY better taste and quality! Handful-wise, I'd say I had about 8-10 handfuls worth of nuts for $4.
Solid concept and branding too. Defs will stop by next time I'm in the area! -

* Are you NUTS?!?!?!?! *
I wandered into this new Persian nut store to check out the offerings. The place is very clean, and the items are nicely presented. But I have a few issues:
1) The price is much higher compared to many of the older Persian markets nearby such as Afra Bakery & Market: http://www.yelp.ca/biz... and Nancy Bakery: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...
2) The almond I tasted, which was supposed to be freshly roasted was not very fresh tasting. There was a slight staleness to it.
They do seem to have their mainstream marketing down though, as the place was packed with non-Persians from the surrounding North Vancouver and West Vancouver areas.
I just can't justify the much higher prices for product that is less than fresh when there are so many good options nearby - even if this place looks all nice and fancy schmancy and has a good marketing campaign. It just leaves me asking if they think I'm nuts?!?!?!?!Listed in: Vancouver Middle Eastern Food

Ayoub's offers both standard and more exotic
Persian snacks and treats that are elegantly presented in pedestaled bowls. My current favourites are their dried figs that have the consistency of gum balls and their dried fruit mix that include persimmon, apple, pear, mango, banana, kiwi, and orange.
One of the best ideas for a store ever! -

Marc, I think you need to go back. Maybe you were there on an off day?
From what I can tell, Ayoub has the best nuts in the city. This guy knows nuts better than anyone else. The hazelnuts and lemon-flavoured almonds are great -- pretty much everything I've tried there is above par.Listed in: My Favs

This is a super store for a little something different and the old standbys. You can sample treats like sour almonds, apricots dried into little rolls, and many different kinds of pumpkin seeds including my favourite, chubby pumpkin seeds. There are also many varieties of mixed fruit and nuts. The staff is very friendly and they do the drying and roasting on-site.

I'm from Los Angeles and I'd go back to Vancouver just to get another bag of the sour almonds and the dired veggie mix. I wish I'd know how good they were going to be because I would have brought home a much large bag.
