I like surprises, and Ayerego's is like wandering through your parents' basement for the unknown.
Order doesn't seem to be a priority here. At this shop, you can dip your hand into one of the unorganized book bins and either come up with some ancient biblical scroll or a biography of Scott Baio, circa 1982. Don't go here expecting to find a selection of Oprah's book of the month. It specializes in current affairs, history, biography, and philosophy, all of which are rare, used, or out of print.
Certainly makes for a great late-night visit and a potential fun date spot. You know, a la Good Will Hunting? And because it's open late at night, it adds a lil' joy in that uninhabited stretch of West Queen West -- not to mention a great getaway spot if there are too many crazies following you and/or smashing beer bottles against their heads (and maybe your own).
The owner is a charming man, too, is keen to help you out and never fails to remind you of his online store, which certainly makes me happy, since there doesn't appear to be too much foot traffic through his door nowadays...
