Review from Roma M.
I came here for a facial last week all because of Fabfind and Janna S.' fabulous review. The salon, set in the heart of Yorkville is nestled in the Cumberland walkway across the cinema. I was 15 minutes late(as usual) for my appointment and running in, I was greeted very hospitably by a lovely lady manning the desk. She said it was no problem that I was late, but methinks it's a mid-afternoon one-off case. She offered me a drink, while I took a quick glance around, taking in the immaculate and unpretentious environment.
I can't remember the name of my facialist (black hair, soft-spoken...nevermind.), and it's too bad because she was phenomenally professional. I won't get into details about my skin, but while it was extremely thorough and relaxing, it was at times slightly painful and my skin was very red in places for a few hours thereafter.
While she had a few products to recommend, she wasn't pushy at all, and I left feeling a little more informed about my skincare process. Granted I don't go for facials on a regular basis, however, I thought I had it all figured out.
I finally found Zoya nail polish in Toronto, and they have a ton of selection for $11 (if they don't have the colour you want, they can order it for you). The staying power is amazing, and the polish doesn't contain the evil 3 chemicals (DBP, Formaldehyde and toluene).
I will definitely be recommending this place to the ladies (or men) who don't mind dishing out extra dollars on high quality service. 60 minute facials start at $105 and I would also recommend them as great gifts for lovers, mothers, sisters, etc.
I will definitely be coming back when I can afford it.Listed in: OK... I'll brag.

I decided to come here after reading such rave reviews and after going to a certain place around the corner, I was opting for something different.
I felt very comfortable here, and loved that my estetician Aleks spent a good 15 mins with me discussing my skin and gave me a great new theory on why I break out so much.
I like the skin care they use, smells so nice. It was usual facial routine, with cleansing, exfoliating, steaming (but not for very long). I had added on the Chrono-Reverser Treatement (glycoial peel, supposed to help with acne scars etc) and during this she gave me a hand massage. After this, was extractions and a facial massage.
Her hands were solid (not like the swedish massage from the other place around the corner) but I did want her to add more pressure. I'll speak up next time.
The facial was $111 and $20 for the added peel. It's a bit pricey and I feel badly for not tipping more. I also bought one of the serums that also dipped into my wallet in a bad way. But part of me thinks it's a necessary evil especially leading up to wedding time.
Oh, I also got a makeup touch up before leaving!
My other favourite thing was that parking is validated. Makes life so much easier.

A great way to get a discount is to get a wayspa gift certificate when they have a 20% sale. -

Just went here this evening for a facial, Hanh was amazing. She took the time to consult what treatment would be best for my type of skin and the extractions were great, leaving my skin so soft and clean! Beautifully located spa with a great ambience. I'm so glad I bought this Fabfind coupon for such luxurious service! Also, thanks to yelp members Janna and Donna for their great reviews and answering some questions I had regarding Axispa- you are right girls, this is a wonderful spa!

My awesome husband bought me a gift certificate for a massage, facial, and pedicure that I was finally able to redeem last week. The spa itself is nice: clean, quiet, and comfortable. The pedicure was excellent -- the person was really nice and did an amazing job. The massage was good as well -- hard enough to be effective, but not so hard that it wasn't relaxing. The only thing that wasn't that great was the facial -- she made rough work of the extractions, and the skin broke and bled in a couple of places. Maybe it was because it had been a year since my last facial. *shrug* Still, everyone was very nice and polite. Despite the less-than-stellar facial, my experience at AXIspa was pretty decent. I'd try a different aesthetician next time, though.

If it wasn't for Fabfind, Groupon et al I'm sure I'd look even more stressed and dishevelled than I look usually. A facial at Axispa was my Fabfind find-75 mins at a discounted rate.
I made my initial enquiries by email which they answered promptly, thankfully. I hate trying to organise things by phone-I find it awkward. They didn't have a Saturday slot for a few weeks so I booked a 5pm appointment for today. They phoned me when I was in work a week later saying something about a mix-up with times or something and wanting to know when I'd booked. It didn't inspire confidence so I ended up emailing yesterday just to check that I was still booked!
I was greeted warmly and given water while waiting and filling out my forms. The reception area was clean and bright. Was good to note that they do St Tropez tan. It's not my favourite but will do if I can't find my other go-to tans!
The aesthetician was very sweet. We chatted about my concerns and my (haphazard) skin routine. She inspected my skin and decided that hydration was in order! My skin has had a rough time with the winter. It was an excellent facial-cleasing, bit of gentle scrubbing, steam, extractions, masks and some kind of device that she ran over my skin. Instead of doing what many do where they run out while the mask is on, she did hand and arm, scalp and neck massages. I was only left there twiddling my thumbs for about 5 mins!
It lasted about 60 mins total-I wonder if the 75 mins incorporates a bit of chilling out time afterwards? I found the room a bit chilly but it was spotless and exactly like the pictures associated with the Yelp listing. I was nosing around while getting ready and was impressed by how well maintained everything was-even the wax pot looked perfect.
There was no hard sell of products-just suggestions and some general recommendations. I must definitely try to save my pennies so I can go back. I've spent the evening stroking my face, murmuring "mmm, silky smooth...". I think I'm worth it!Listed in: Pampering and preening

It has been quite some time since I have had services at AXIspa. Though in the past, I have been very happy with their services. (Noting, Lorraine's waxing expertise was the primary reason I visited).
Yesterday, my mom and I pampered ourselves to a massage, facial and pedicure at AXIspa. As Janna S. mentioned, I was skeptical about the service we would receive, as the treatment(s) purchased were part of a special voucher deal. However, the service and treatments were excellent. Stephanie and Violet took great care of us. This was especially great for my mom, as this was her first "spa day" experience. She absolutely loved it.
I would definitely recommend AXIspa for their excellent treatments, clean and relaxing atmosphere and pleasant service. In addition, it is located in a great area of the city. Centered in Yorkville, the spa is surrounded by great shops, cafes and restaurants. What better way for a girl spend a day? -
Review from Janna S.
Tell staff that Janna referred you - will receive a special discount!
Definitely one of the best facial treatments I've ever had - this place has exceptionally good service! Violet really helped create a relaxing atmosphere with her down-to-earth attitude and beauty treatment expertise. I have extremely sensitive skin but I didn't leave with blotchy red patches on my face (unlike some spas) because Violet took the time to listen to me before applying products.
I had my doubts before going here - I had purchased a voucher for AXIspa and wondered if the level of service might be compromised. The only regret I left with is that I didn't buy MORE vouchers. I will be back here again! This is the place to go when you want the very best. -

This was great! Came for a pedi
Pros:
- offered a drink very quickly
- excellent selection of Zoya polishes (they don't have the 3 chemicals to avoid - formaldehyde, etc)
- great polish application - it looked fantastic
- well sanitized instruments - the clippers were taken from individual packages, and the foot files were the stick on kind that are individual-use
- comfortable chairs
- nice view - you can look out on an alley/walkway as you have your pedi done (some might not like this as folks can also see in!)
Cons:
- a little pricey, but totally on par for the area
- didn't include a foot or leg massage, which is one of my favorite parts -
Review from Stephanie G.
This place is WONDERFUL. I had a number of services done here including Mani/Pedi, full body massage, Facial treatment...and they were all done to the T. Every service was so relaxing and professional i loved it. Everyone in the spa was so sweet too-not that bratty/snooty spa attitude which i hate. they were all very down to earth, un-presumptuous and kind.
I would definitely go back here and recommend it to anyone. -

I found this place through Fabfind's amazing deal for a facial. I came back again for a maintenance facial and still love it. The girls are all very professional and thorough. The rooms are spotless, comfortable and inviting. The products they use feel amazing on my skin. I liked their recommendation for a Glycolic Serum and am still using it. Highly recommended for yourself or as a gift for your BFF :)

Really great place. I went for a facial here because I'd bought a http://Fabfind.com voucher. I was a bit nervous as I'd had bad experiences with discount vouchers for spas before. Everyone here was very professional and kind. The lady who did my facial had a cold so she wore a mask, which allowed me to relax and not have to worry about getting sick. She was very attentive, and the products felt really great on my skin.
Also, they sell St Tropez tanning lotion!!! It's very expensive (I used to pick it up for $25 in California).. but it's honestly the best stuff out there. You actually turn BROWN, not orange!
Also, at the end of my appointment the lady who did my facial showed me the products she used, but was not AT ALL pushy. After all, who doesn't hate to be 'sold'?? And I did end up buying a couple products.
One last thing- you can park for free since it's located in Renaissance Court in Yorkville.. you just have to get your parking validated.
Anyway, that's my review- great place, highly recommend Axispa!! -

Review from Diva C.

I went to this spa recently in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday thanks to FabFind's groupon certificate. It was a $35 for a 75 minute facial.
I made an appointment through their website and received a confirmation e-mail quickly after and a reminder by phone a day before, which was great.
When I entered the spa I was not greeted at all after I cheerfully said hello. Instead, I was frowned at (gee I wonder why) and given a form that I had to fill out and register myself. The spa was pretty crowded, with about three other ladies waiting and staring at each other. After 10 minutes of waiting, the attendee (she was very nice) took me into a treatment room and asked me what my concerns are. She immediately told me that my skin is very dry and thirsty and recommends a hydrating facial (which is one of their less expensive facials) after I expressed that my skin is very sensitive to many products with scents and something about blackheads. Anyways, the treatment was quite nice and she was very careful, took her time, and totally made my face free of blackheads. After the treatment I was once again in contact with the grumpy/unhappy frontline staff and cheerfully said my goodbyes.
It has been a few days since and my skin didn't react very well to the products for the first couple days, but now my skin is glowing and it's pretty hydrated! So the facial was great, but overall, i think the attendees base their service on how much you are paying (I am fairly young and I think they immediately assumed that I'm a cheapo) and are told to suggest a less expensive facial to those who took advantage of the FabFind deal as it costs less for them. I've definitely experienced better service as I work for a five star luxury hotel near by where service is their number one priority... maybe I am being too tough on them, but I definitely didn't leave the spa with the most positive energy. I am not sure if i will return and/or recommend this typical yorkville snooty establishment to a guest based on the 'enthusiastic' service I received. I was really hoping that they could convert me into a regular patron because if the service was better I would definitely return regularly. -
