I have been going to Axis on Georgia since September 2009. Andrew is an awesome hair dresser. Very friendly and really seems to "get" what I like for my hair. He makes the experience seem more like hanging out with a friend then getting your hair cut :)

I've been to several of their mid-priced female stylists and I think each time the results were about average. Everyone seems really nice and friendly, but for what they charge (tried a cut, color, and updo/halfdo), I've left each time feeling like it could have been better.
Apparently the owner designs the art in there and that is worth seeing.Comment from Renee S. of Axis Hair Salon 5/17/2012

I tried a few female stylists at this location and it was inconsistent. The styles they recommended are so boring and unexciting. I like it when the hairstylist recommends a fabulous hairdo for my face, and can do it again the next time I am there. However, to pay the top stylist price and to have inconsistent results, I went elsewhere. Axis used to have some very good stylists and I found that lately, they are no better than those cheap stylists you fnd for $10.

Axis has the best salons in Vancouver, and their West Georgia location is particularly great. I rarely give anything a 5-star rating but Axis really earned it today. Through a scheduling snafu that was completely my fault I ended up going to their West Pender Street location the other day and seeing a stylist I don't normally see by accident. The stylist I saw was absolutely lovely and wonderful and she really did her best--but I have baby fine, horrible hair and highlights are always a bit of a gong-show to do properly on me. My cut and my base colour were great, but unfortunately the highlights ended up badly in need of fixing.
Rather than panicking, I called the West Georgia location to see if my normal stylist was available this weekend and thankfully Chastity was. Through yet another totally idiotic scheduling mess on my part I arrived to my 'correction' appointment very late--but Chastity still fit me in, tidied up the highlight issues and was incredibly kind and patient. They wouldn't even let me pay. I just came home and looked in the mirror and honestly got a bit teary. I haven't felt this good in months. My hair looks amazing.
For me good customer service is not just about getting it right on the first try, it's about the service you receive consistently over time and the lengths to which a business will go to correct an issue and accommodate you. Though the original stylist didn't quite get my hair right, I honestly didn't stress and get super upset because I knew Axis would make it right and they did--even though I booked with the wrong stylist, was late, partially to blame etc.
Axis totally salvaged what has honestly been a stressful, awful week. Splurge for their advanced/senior stylists and you will leave happy. When it comes to hair you absolutely get what you pay for--and in the case of Axis, that is stylists with true talent, gorgeous facilities, amazing staff, great products and insurance that even if something isn't perfect they will always ensure you walk away satisfied. There is serious peace of mind in that.
** Also: I cannot recommend Chastity enough. Not only is she also lovely and wonderful, she is an all-star pro and I've never left an appointment with her not feeling like a million bucks. She's honestly an artist and I always get endless compliments on the colours and cuts she gives me--and they keep coming for weeks and months after I see her, too, which is awesome. She rules.

I tried out Axis because my usual stylist was a little to busy. I ended up with someone by the name of Courtenay. I'm not really the type of guy that has pre conceived notions of what my hair should look like. I told her to cut in a way that she personally thought looked good. She gave some suggestions and told me how my hair would most likely grow. And so far she's been accurate. Her cut was a little shocking at first, because I had relatively long hair back then, but soon the compliments started to come in. And I counted, I received 6 compliments from my employees and customers that I've worked with. I would recommend that you give them a try! I was very satisfied.
Oh something interesting you should know...is that you can't add on tips to Debit and Credit Card, it has to be done through cash. So make sure you bring a little with you if you go. -

Andrew is so awsome and such a sweet heart!
I have been going to him since 2009 winter and I get EXACTLY what I want everytime! He delivers consistent results and is always warm and professional! If you want a soft flowy look as I do, he won't disappoint you! -

I've been to Axis many years ago, but was lured back by a friend who recommended a stylist by the name of Andrew. I heard he does "amazing colour". And Andrew delivered, he was great! Friendly and warm, Andrew touched up my roots with highlights and made sure I was comfortable with what he was recommended. He also gave me a great cut and blow-out that got compliments right away. I have since recommended another friend to see Andrew, and they were super happy with their cut. And agreed that Andrew is a sweetie. The salon itself, is starting to look it's age, could use some renovating. Good selection of magazines. Will definitely be returning.

I've been going to Axis for about a year after moving to the country. A few people I met here told me that they were about the best in town and I've stuck with them. I've now decided that their pricing is waaay to high for a man's haircut, and that they're not the creative powerhouse that people seem to think they are. I don't want wacky, I just want the occasional suggestion. The service is OK, but nothing to go crazy about. I think it's a place that's more style than substance, and not worth the price.

I've been going to Karl at Axis for years now. I've had other haircuts/colours with stylists when I used to work at a salon and when he left Vancouver for a year, but no one is as good.
Numerous friends and family members (of many different ages and styles) have become his clients because of my recommendation and they all think he's the best. -

Did the typical male move of landing in Vancouver and needing an instant haircut. I was flying in from out of town and it was sunday. The concierge at Sutton Place recommended them and got me an appt quickly. I was very happy with my cut and the quality of the place. Seemed like mostly guys getting cuts there.
