Review from Jennifer L.

I wanted "authentic french food" and I think this is what this was.
I made my experience at Au Verre de l'Ange an awkward one but really, the service was very hospitable and helpful. The food was enjoyable and the restaurant's atmosphere was very quaint, quiet and for l'amour.
The francophone waiter took the time to joyfully describe each item within the prix fixe menu since it was all in French (for example: souris d'agneau is actually just lamb, not "mouse meat"). This prompted me to order FOIE GRAS for the first time, despite me envisioning a duck being force-fed a whackload of grain to quickly enlarge its liver for our culinary enjoyment. The result: these soft little pats of butter-like substances that I slapped onto my wee croustinis, smothering them with a curious gelatin-like substance. Who knows? Ignorance is bliss. Elk was my main course. It was described to me as "gamey", which basically just means that I must have some hair on my chest to chew on this bloody slab of meat.Listed in: I Love Meat
