Review from Lacey H.
I've spent the better part of my life believing I have 20/24 vision. Borderline superpower sight. I cannot say whether this belief has been truly founded (an optometrist did tell me - but I was young, maybe I skewed the details), but I can assert that things have changed for me as of late.
I've been having some up close vision issues, which isn't uncommon, specifically with the large amount of computer use / reading that I engage in daily. I found myself today having my first eye exam in over a decade at this Spring Garden Road clinic.
At first I was unsure of what was going on. One of the women working in the front performed some preliminary tests on me, but didn't explain what was to come. I soon found myself being blasted in the eye with air, without any warning. I was taken aback and a little hesitant that my experience would consist of ill-explained procedures. However, once I found myself in the examination room with Dr. Lu my worries subsided. He was very nice, informative and easy going. He explained everything to me as the exam proceeded, and I ended up spending about half an hour or so with him figuring out the specifics of my issue.
He took me out and showed me around explaining prices on frames, but wasn't pushy about me having to make a commitment on the spot. He explained that the benefit of purchasing from him was that he would assist me within the next couple of months if my prescription needed to be altered without any additional costs.
I felt comfortable about most of the ordeal, and think I will head back in within the next couple of days to figure out the actual procuring of the spectacles. I think the experience would have benefited from better upfront explanations from the front end staff, as well as being advised that I'd have a bit of a wait time (my appointment was slated for 12:30pm, but Dr. Lu was running about 20 minutes behind).
All in all, a positive experience for the old peepers. I suppose I'll be joining the "four-eyes" clan in the weeks to come; but I will do it with no fear in my heart. Bring on the goggles, I say - I'll sport 'em with pride and a pinch of panache for good measure.
