I'm not sure how many different cab companies there are in the Calgary area, but I have been using Associated Cabs for the past couple of months as I travel for business. The drivers are always considerate and maintain clean and comfortable vehicles.
During my last commute to the city I forgot my cell phone in one of their cars. I was worried at first, because my cell phone is my link to the world! Nonethelss, I called the number on my receipt and gave the operator the car number, and my phone was returned to me at my hotel within minutes.
I will continue to use Associated Cabs to get to and from the city, and I will recommend them to all my friends and coworkers. -

If you are new to Calgary or just visiting, this is the cab company to call. I have nothing short of wonderful experiences in Associated Cabs over the years minus a few minor, unpleasant encounters with some of their dispatch staff.
The cab drivers themselves are consistently reliable, and generally know the streets of Calgary. If I call a Checker cab I spend the entire time on guard having to ensure that the driver doesn't take me on a detour around the city prior to dropping me off at my destination. If I call Associated I can open my book up, sit back and relax knowing I will get where I need to go the quickest, most efficient way possible.
I recently had surgery and was quite immobile for several weeks, one morning I called a cab to go and visit my mom at her house across town. I made my way slowly outside and the cabby pulled up, saw me moving slowly towards the cab and got out of his taxi, walked up to me, asked me if I needed help and encouraged me to enter the taxi slowly. We had a wonderful conversation on the way to my mom's and I left his taxi feeling elated at the kindness that can exist between complete strangers.
So the moral of this taxi story is that if you want to get to your destination efficiently and relax while doing it, Associated is your cab company.

I have used quite a few cab companies and had relatively positive experience with all of them. What makes Associated Cabs stand out, unfortunately, is not a good one.
Last week I called an Associated Cab at Safeway SW/downtown to my place only 1.1 km away, and was charged for $7 as opposed to $5 including a generous tip. The meter was already at $3.8(standard flag-down $3.4).
I lodged a complaint with the company head office. Both the handling clerk Dave and his supervisor were very defensive, claiming drivers can start the meter at the point of contact with the customer, with which I completely agree. However I was the one waiting for him outside Safeway. Then they argued a normal $5 fare could well jump to $10 or so because of traffic. And there was little traffic(downtown is almost dead at 8pm on a weekday!). Both were rude throughout and there's no customer service..at all.
I just feel a customer deserves a fair treatment, which Associated Cabs is incapable of providing. I'm not hanging up on the $2; I would be more than happy to give him that if he had a reason. It's a matter of principle of not ripping customers off like that. -

For many months before I bought my vehicle I had to take taxis to my mother's Care Facility and I always choose Associated Cabs. I really dig their easy to dial phone number and believe me this is convenient when standing out in the cold. They are pretty good too at showing up within the time allotted, so I found them extremely reliable.
But I want to get into the customer service. Extremely polite fellows and on all occasions I have had the privilege of exchanging many stories. Most of my taxi drivers have come from India, Ethiopia and Pakistan, so the cab ride always passes very quickly because it is filled with mutual immigration stories, stories about how to deal with this cold climate coming from a hot one and my ultimate favourite; food and recipes sharing! I always get the down low as well on the most authentic places to eat in the city which I am extremely happy about and I believe Mirchi as well as Atlas came highly recommended to me in a cab.
They are extremely polite guys, my luggage is always put in the trunk for me and taken out and often times taken right to my door.
But last but not least I love the option of paying with my debit card. Sometimes a taxi is a last minute thought when it's minus 20, no bus is in site and I am not carrying cash so I am grateful for this option. Keep up the good work guys! -

I've gotta agree with Chad - Associated Cabs is one of the best cab companies in Calgary. The drivers are always friendly and often hilarious. These guys see everything! They have the dirt on everyone and everything. They all work hard, and take pride in doing a good job.
The whole company takes pride in keeping its customers happy. If you have any issues with your driver, you're encouraged to report to Associated. This means you can expect excellent service. One driver even ran after my friend, followed her into the store where he had last seen her to return the cell phone she had left in the back seat. That's service!
They are always on time when you request a pick-up, so you always make it to the airport or your meeting on time. I trust Associated more than any other cab company in Calgary. -

Associated Cabs probably has some of the coolest cabbies I've met in the city, offering intelligent conversation and kindness to everyone, locals and out-of-towners.
Their cabs are often clean and well kept. The drivers are courteous and don't haul ass unless you really want them to. Most cab drivers have even allowed me to play my own music while in their vehicles.
I dig Associated. Their wait times can get especially brutal, but the comfortable ride is usually worth the wait. On a cold winter night, a cab is about a billion times better than the bus. -
