The first thing you notice when you walk into Askim's is the smell of fermenting beer, wine, cider, and mead in the background. Ken's outfit combines homebrew supply and a U-Brew operation where he provides the equipment and you do the work.
The shop has been around practically forever, and has that well-settled look that only an truly established business can have. His prices are fair, and his advice is golden. When we first walked in six months ago, talking about mash tuns and grain bills and with no idea what we were doing, Ken set us straight and even showed us the ropes, helping us brew our own beer. Since then we've been regular customers, buying all our grains, hops, and yeast from him.
