Arts On Atlantic is a very cool gallery in town. They carry everything from jewellery, journals and tea sets, to hand-drawn fairy tale books!
What I absolutely LOVED about this store however was the service. Every single person that comes through the door is greeted personally. Then, on their way out, again, every single person is thanked for having come in.
The majority of the work in this store is sourced from local artists which proves just how talented our fellow Calgarians are.
The owner of the store, Stephen Murphy, happened to be in-store while we looked around and he was extremely welcoming and helpful.
Oh, and I haven't even told you yet! When I went over the weekend, all guests were offered cookies and juice while they perused the art! A very nice touch!
Overall, I was quite impressed with this gallery. Between the art and the service, Arts On Atlantic has got a lot to offer our city. -

The manager Deborah welcomed me to the Arts on Atlantic Gallery and we had a little tour together. The store has magnificent pieces in a nice selection of mediums. There are very nice ceramic pieces, prints and paintings and even a miniature book section.
The things that I was most impressed that I saw were the jewellery, great handmade forged pieces made my local and Canadian artists.
This February 6th to commemorate the day of Valentines, AOAG is presenting a jewellery expo featuring some of the finest jewellery craftspeople in the business. I plan to return and get something special for my honey on this day.
Deborah has a very down to earth and kind sensibility, you can tell she has both the artist and her customer's interests in mind.
There is also a framing service that they offer here in case you discover a print you would like professionally frame.

Any establishment that supports local artists and their works is top notch in my books. And speaking of books, this is Calgary's penultimate gallery for the book arts and works on paper - this includes fine publications and original artwork, artists' books, fine press books, and journals. The Van Sandwyk Reading Room even has comfy chairs to sit in so you can take your time perusing the artists' work.
Out front, the display du jour featured a lot of stained glass and blown glass pieces of art and functional items like vases and decorative fish for sale. They also carry paintings and more traditional artworks, for display, sale, and some items for rental. Arts on Atlantic has multiple long-term payment options, and they also do their own custom framing if you so choose to mount your new found treasure!
