On a dull weekday afternoon, there was a strange event that floated around with a few friends about ArtSpot Calgary. I thought nothing of it but marked it down on my calendar in case I ever feel the need to seize the day.
Seize indeed! I decided to check out a recent art event at Artspot and discovered a wayward house located in a pocket street along 17th ave. No cover was required and when I walked in, the crowd was certainly interesting but friendly. Its a tiny space since this house also serves as artist residence, but having checked out their website, I was surprised to see how many events this non-profit organization has put together. I'm a bit of an art NOOB, but everyone here appreciates art and loves talking about their perceptions. I had a chance to talk with the artist showcasing his work, as well as one of the volunteers, who participates in the events planned here.
Apparently they also have readings and performances here!
