Also one of my favourite places to shop in Halifax due to it's diversity. I appreciate good sailor hats, sailor anything really and combat boots. CHEAP (in cost) combat boots! Also Gas Masks. So many gas masks. Oh how I love Gas Masks.
They have a good selection of clothing, a good selection of vintage army everything and some antiques. Their prices are good and the people who work there typically add an extra Hmmmm to the store.
Love it. -

The Army Navy Store has tons of things to offer almost anyone. From boots to bags to chairs to firearms to fireworks. Camping and fishing gear .. EVERYTHING. A huge selection where prices are ok.
So why only 2 stars? My bf and one of his friends spend way to much money at this place, they are air soft junkies (you know, they enjoy shooting each other with pellet like.. things.) and are in there at least every 2 weeks for supplies. This isn't a big deal, and it's a decent hobby I suppose. The last 2 times (and only times) I have ventured in with them the staff well.. sucked. Inattentive, unfriendly and extremely rude. They are not interested in what you're looking for, and when you ask to see something from behind the counter they hand it over and leave you standing there.. What is behind the counter? Only guns (air soft, paintball...but still) and knives..Helllo? Also, the people who are interested in purchasing these behind the counter items are looking at spending BIG bucks, so how about a little information about the gadget.
Ok, so that was a rant, and I apologize. -

I went here for some safety shoes/boots for a theatre class. All the other stores I tried did not have black steel toed shoes with the little green safety approved triangle in a women's 7/ men's 5 for under $130. I got a nice used pair here for 23 bucks - and they fit!
I didn't have a lot of time to browse through all the cool stuff in this shop, but the sales person was helpful when I told him what I needed to find. I think I'll definitely visit this place again to browse more thoroughly. -

One day I was walking down the street and I thought to myself, "man I would love to buy some camouflage, a shovel, paint ball gun, some mini lasers and painting supplies. Luckily I found the Army Navy Store. Because all of my needs were met!
This is one strange store. I have come on many occasions for various reasons and was always satisfied whether I bought something or not. I was satisfied simply because I had such a strange experience that I left shaking my head and smiling.
I work in the film and television industry. Most of the time I am an Actor but I am also a Director and a Producer. I was working on one film where we needed to buy several Petticoats for a "turn of the century" scene I was shooting. Thanks to the Army Navy Store, we got exactly what we wanted for all six actors playing sailors. From time-to-time they will even cut you a deal if you are buying a lot of one item.
This might be a strange suggestion, but avoid the washroom if you get scared easily. It is on the second floor and gave me the impression I just walked into an abandoned part of the store. There was miscellaneous items lying around like half used paint cans and parts of walls leaning against walls etc...Once again, another reason why I shake my head, smile and remind myself that this store is unique.
If you need used army supplies, this really is the best store in the city for you. If you want to have a laugh and walk through a very random, strange store, this place is also for you. The staff are friendly enough and knowledgeable. So within the category of Army Navy Store's, of which there are a limited few in Halifax, this place being the largest and with the best supply definitely deserves four stars. -

Ron's Army Navy Store is like thrift shopping on crack. There are rows and rows and shelves and shelves full of anything you could possibly imagine. Although it's called an Army Navy store, you can find all sorts of great discoveries here. It's definitely camping heaven, as there is incredible deals to be found, from camping cookware to tents to canoes - you're only limited by the size of your trunk (or trailer, if you thought ahead).
My ex-husband loved this store. He could spend hours in it, similar to me at a shoe store. We never left without some kind of nifty contraption that we didn't know we needed prior to stepping inside the store.
Particularly good values are the lifejackets (when you can find them) and the aforementioned tents.
When you go to Ron's, make sure you wear comfortable shoes; you'll be wandering the aisles for a while!

Ron's Army Navy is where you go when looking for Army uniforms etc,(knock offs of course). They have a variety of things, ropes, lunch kits, air-soft guns, hunting supplies.
I do not frequent this store a lot, but when I did , it had what we were looking for. -

I was on the hunt for a gift for a friend of mine at work, what I wanted to get him was a small pocket knife. So the mission was on, off I go. So I am going everywhere trying to find the perfect pocket knife. Walmart, fishing tackle shop, Canadian Tire. So as I am driving down Agricola Street and I look up and see The Navy Store and decided to go in and see what they had. Well they have everything but the kitchen sink and I think if I look hard enough I might find something that I can use.
Well I am telling you they have everything there for hunting, fishing, camping you could be in there for days as survive. Going through the isles looking at all the stock they had and all the camouflage gear some of this stuff is really neat.
Finally I came across the knives in the case at the front and I am studying the case and see the perfect pocket knife for my worker. Well I am looking for the range of $30 to $40 when he pulled it out and I was looking and said how much. Well when he said $85.00 I said ahhhh no thanks a little pricey for me. And went and purchased something else for him. -

This place is as surprisingly weird as it is eclectically diverse and decrepit.
I wandered in to find a sign telling me that my bag must be left at the counter. I obliged and carried on with my attentive sussing. Metal shelves buckle with the weight of boxes upon boxes of fireworks, while piles of grimy used wares are scattered throughout the store's main floor. The gun cage was a strange discovery, with a man dressed in army garb cleaning slash doing something with a gun.
I kept on my mission (browsing and being flabbergasted) discovering bed sheets, mattress covers and piles of VHS and cassette tapes. The fireworks display was the most titillating, with one baby called the "Extravaganza" weighing in a $45 claiming to project 100 shots! I want!
When my delight finally turned to boredom, I ventured to pick up my bag and hit the road. I was pleasantly surprised by the varying wares and the gun/firework/bedding merchandise all being sold under one roof.
I definitely know where I'll be going to pick up my next plethora of fireworks... -

There's something about this place that makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. Sure, it's a musty, messy, cluttered old candy store, but a candy store nonetheless. What I love about it is that you might stop in, looking for something predictable - say, an old army-issue raincoat - but you'll soon discover that the place is packed with all sorts of weird treasures - like flashing rooftop car lights (illegal, but hey, cool!) gardening tools, dishes, painting supplies, crazy headlamps, work gloves, winter hats - and weapons out the ying-yang. Cheap dishcloths and candles. Oh, and there's all the army surplus stuff, too - jackets, boots, coats, hats. Old desks and filing cabinets. And rope as thick as your arm! And the prices are fantastic. This place is like a dollar-store on steroids.
