LOTS of great deals here, if you're willing to take the time to look around and find them. You DON'T always have to know what you're looking for, but it helps.
DO check them out some time when you have nothing better to do. I've bought lots of useful CHEAP stuff here, like work gloves (probably factory seconds, but who cares?) for a buck a pair. Great for greasing backhoes and excavators, and I don't even care when they get ruined from all the grease!
Hmm....maybe I better go see if they have some more of them on sale. -

This very basic but large storefront is a great place to find some great deals.
Personally, I enjoy their show department, even outside of the annual show sale. I have found some get low-mid point brands here, and when buying a trend shoe I like that I can usually find what I am looking for at Army & Navy for $20 or less.
My most recent trip I was thrilled to find little summer tops on sales 3 for 9.99 and denim `short pants` as I call them for $8. I have also found lots of knick knacks for around my flat and some great mugs years ago which I still use and love (lepord print!). For my boyfriend A&N is his go to place for fishing gear.
This is a great place to swing by if you feel like shopping and being able to buy something with the change stowed at the bottom of your hand bag. -

I am a fan of cheaply made clothing and housewares (Walmart, Superstore, etc.) so when I was in New West the other day I decided to stop in to Army and Navy and take a look around. I haven't been in there for a while and was surprised to see they have changed quite a bit. The upper floor now has a large selection of nice housewares. Actual nice, modern stuff. The woman's clothing department isn't bad either now. I picked up a few silky and frilly bra and panty sets. Sure they were cheap and will only last a few wears and washes, but I'll probably only wear them for photo shoots or nights when I know I'm going to get laid.

A long time ago, Army and Navy did an ad campaign where they pretended to have a camera crew ambushing people as they came out of the store. The "reporter" asked the person if they shopped at Army and Navy, and the person answered "No," as they tried to hide their A&N shopping bags.
Except for the famous annual shoe sale, I think this sentiment holds pretty true. Army and Navy is a pretty basic shopping experience, but you do often find some good deals on brand name products (shoes!). As well, if you need some home supplies (glasses, candles, kitchen gadgets, etc.), some camping gear, or some groceries and junk food, it's a good place to find it. There's a sizeable chunk of floor space for camo gear and fishing poles - MEC it ain't.
Although I like to think downtown New West is up-and-coming as a neighbourhood, A&N still feels down at heels. The decor probably hasn't changed since the day they opened. The clientele can be a little strange sometimes, so I usually get some street theatre along with my illicit bargain hunting. -

Cheap "department store" style clothes, construction/work gear, housewares, camping/fishing stuff etc. Basically like Wal-Mart, but a bit more dumpy. Couldn't help but notice the aging building (especially the dirty floor) when I walked in.

Old, smelly, dusty, and you're basically shopping at a very old store that had no renovations since it opened like over 60 years ago. Lots of ugly shoes, ugly clothes, extremely poor customer service. I actually bought an item at Army and Navy in downtown and I brought it to the New West location for refund and they said they Army and Navy doesn't carry this item and I told them that I did buy it here but the downtown location. They refused the refund even arguing with the manager. Really stupid staff members.... it looked like most of them are baked on pot.

This place is very basic and will sometimes shop here. Mostly for shirts, a jacket here and there and ALWAYS the annual shoe sale. If you haven't realized from my other reviews, I am a shopaholic lol. I just recently went to the shoe sale and bought 5 pairs of fashion shoes for about $125 including taxes. If I were skinnier their clothes might fit but I find that they don't. Even when I was a size 10.
