Visited this place often when we lived in North Van, I miss it. Such great food! I'm not a big fan of salads for one, but this place managed to make me a believer. The beef carpaccio is also amazing, well really everything is. Come early, because you can't  reserve and lines will form..especially when it's nice out and you want to sit on the terrace.
I will have to make a trip down there again to get my tasty food fix.

I think of Arms Reach as one of those places where 90% of the appeal lies in the location and atmosphere. In this case, it is hard to beat sitting on the patio overlooking the tranquility and beauty of Deep Cove, especially on a sunny day.

The food didn't really impress me, to be honest, but there wasn't anything overtly negative about it. I have to give them credit for accomodating my dietary restrictions as they were nice enough to agree to my request for an omelette when that wasn't on the lunch/brunch menu. My fellow diners were satisfied but not overly impressed with their meals, and the coffee was average.

However, the service was great and, again, the location and atmosphere are pretty spectacular. I was here with family for lunch but this place would definitely have a very romantic atmosphere at sunset in the summer, and I would love to return for drinks and appies then.

Probably one of the best seafood linguine i've had in a long time! Not too oily or creamy, plenty of scallops, mussels, shrimp and a good-size portion. Nicely-sprinkled tomatoes too, good anti-oxidants, especially for the men :) Very tasteful.

The view was pretty good too.

This place probably has some of The Best Sea Food in all of Vancouver! Not like all the shitty casual chain Vancouver Restaurants with a good location. This location is a little off the beaten path with a great view. Great service! Great food!, Awesome Location. Just one small negative is that it could use some heating lamps or something outside, the blankets do help a lot though. It was a lot of fun sitting under the huge umbrellas and eating dinner in the rain with a view of Deep Cove.

Nice location, generally decent food.  However, downtown prices in a suburban location, for service that is definitely not downtown, and food that is good, but not special.  Very over-priced for what you get.  Especially the cocktails which look like they are rationed for size, and are very expensive.  What gives?

Really good experience. Worth the drive for fresh well executed Moules Frites, solid caesar salad, golden beet salad, & lovely linguine pescatore. Good beverage choices and down home service.

I cannot say enough good things about the Arms Reach Bistro.  My husband and I had such a wonderful meal last night with food that compares to some of the best west coast/seafood restaurants in Vancouver.

This place is a hidden gem!  Our reservation was at 8pm and we are seated promptly after we arrived at a very nice table with a view of the water in Deep Cove.  The service by our server Kristy was excellent as she was attentive but not overbearing.  I actually informed Kristy about my allergy to dairy and she was extremely accommodating as she knew which items on the menu did not have dairy.  She even offered to bring us olive oil and balsamic with our bread instead of butter.

We started with the Seafood Chowder and Beef Carpaccio which were both absolutely amazing.   For my main, I ordered the Linguine Pescatore which was a delectable pasta dish with a generous portion of fresh crab and shrimp tossed with the pasta.  Perfect for $17 I must say.  My husband had the angry chicken and was also very pleased.  We actually had a hard time deciding on our meal because there were so many really great sounding choices.  We will definitely be back to try out some more items on the menu.

Our bill came out to less than $100 for two appies, two mains, two glasses of wine, tea and coffee.  VERY reasonable especially given that if I had eaten downtown at a comparable restaurant, I would have easily spent about $150+.

On a short notice invitation I was invited to lunch at the Bistro and you better believe I said 'yes'!

Nothing is better than a weekday lunch when it's not too busy and you have your choice of seating. We chose the patio with it's nice view and 'warmie' blankets to throw over your lap.

I ordered the Tomato and fennel chowder with spring salmon and Alaskan Black Cod. It was a seafood bisque full of seafood flavour but I have to say I tasted no Fennel at all, that was disappointing.
The not-so-juicy looking burger came with more fries than anyone could hope for on a really nice bun and a couple of nice tomato slices, The poached eggs looked perfectly porcelain atop an English muffin. Just slightly runny and slightly hard and  brilliantly orange to show their free-run pedigree. I'd say they were cooked to perfection, although they arrived a bit more cooked than was ordered and it does say "cooked the way you like them", they looked just right to me.

The server deserves 5 stars for being such a patient doll with my folks and thus our meal was really an enjoyable experience.

The food is worth five stars the service is not. Our waitress was nice enough I guess, but she was complacent and didn't seem to make much of an effort with us. That said, the food made up for the disappointing service.

We started with the calamari frito and Saltspring mussels in coconut milk and green curry. The calamari was amazing. Tender, succulent - everything calamari should be. It had a light batter and somehow ended up not greasy in the slightest. Now the mussels....good God they were amazing. They were so fresh that they melted like butter in your mouth, The cilantro and lime in the broth woke the dish up and the juice from the shellfish added a briny, earthy, delicious perk to the dish. The fries served along side were perfect - crispy and peppery on the outside and soft on the inside.

For our mains we ordered the black cod, scallops, scallop curry, beef tenderloin and the angry chicken. I had the black cod with a lamb merguez israeli couscous. The couscous was al dente, the sausage was spicy and the grilled veggies had just the right amount of char on them. The other dishes looked great - the beef tenderloin came out perfectly rare - in fact all of the dishes were cooked the way we wanted them to be.

Fresh, local, sustainable and delicious - this is a gem just outside of the city.

I went here last night in the rain with a friend. I'm planning on coming back for a date because it seemed to strike the romantic note. Here's the list for your consideration:

    Pro's
Quintessential 'nice restaurant' experience. Beautiful atmosphere
Great location. Going to Deep Cove on the bus is fun. very fun! especially on sunny days.
    Delicious crab cakes!
Fries were nicely seasoned and came in a large bowl
The view from the windows. Very romantic

    Con's
The service was okay, felt like they were trying to rush us out (?)
$$$ Drinks. 14$ martinis'. I'm sorry all, i'm not a Vanderbilt. The corona did come with lime, though!

    I love Twitter.

If it wasn't for Twitter I would've never met Jeremy, who introduced me to The Arms Reach Bistro - Vancouver's best kept secret.

Located in Downtown Deep Cove, Arms Reach Bistro has been open since 2004. It's a cozy restaurant with gorgeous views of the water. Owner and Head Chef Erick Kauko is a member of the Ocean Wise program, they specialize in West Coast cuisine with an Italian twist. Their menu is a mosaic of flavours: everything from seafood to pasta to steak - its guaranteed to satisfy whatever you're craving. They use only the freshesh produce and meats.

Their wine list is extensive: It includes a variety of BC wines as well as wines from all over the globe.

We had the Beef Carpaccio to start - It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, with rosemary-garlic aioli, capers, shaved Parmesan and crostinis. The sauce had a hint of Dijon and it was fantastic!

We followed that appetizer with the Fresh Saltspring Island Mussels. The mussels were a beautiful, rich pink colour. Steamed in coconut milk, green curry, lime juice and cilantro,  They came with hand cut fries. The portion was very generous.

For our second course we had the linguine with the braised pork belly. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the pork was tender and delicious. The reputation for their pastas is well deserved.

As a main dish we had the most amazing beef tenderloin with a rich red wine demi-glace. It came with seared scallops, herb risotto and grilled seasonal vegetables. The beef was perfectly braised and it was tender and juicy. The scallops had an amazing texture and they were a perfect pairing for the risotto.

Finally, we finished our dinner with the Raspberry Creme Brulee. It was so good! rich, creamy custard covered in a hard caramel shell.

We had a wonderful time at The Arms Reach Bistro. The food was amazing, the staff was attentive and knowledgeable and the prices are very reasonable. The restaurant was packed the whole time we were there, so reservations are recommended. Follow them on Twitter @armsreachbistro

Had a great meal of fresh local mussels with my wife.  The restaurant has great views over the waterfront.  We wanted to wait for a window table, as almost all the tables were full when we got there.  Luckily it was just a small wait for the table.

If you have the chance to enjoy Deep Cove, make sure to enjoy a meal here.

The Arms Reach is one of those undiscovered gems you hope the rest of the world doesn't find out about so you don't end up having to make reservations eons in advance ... oops.

Well, I guess for some, Deep Cove is a trek, so that eliminates some of the competition right there. Anyway, the Arms Reach has it all - great location on the water, friendly service, and gorgeous food. It's a lovely little room filled with wine and comfortable seating, and there's also a patio for one of those late summer/early fall days when you just want to kick back and watch the kayaks and sailboats go in and out of the marina.

My family took me out to the Arms Reach for my birthday dinner. The wine list was extensive (not surprising when the bottles form part of the decor) and my prawn ceviche (rummylicious) and CBC curry butter chicken were both delicious. My hunny doesn't drink, but his virgin Mojito was really good too.

I didn't see the final bill, of course, but the prices are very reasonable for what you get - under $30 for generous-sized entrees and under $20 for pastas. It's worth the trip.

Just 15 mins from East Van, set at the base of Mt Seymour, on edge of the beach, over looking the cozy boat filled cove called Deep Cove and the mountain range in the distance... does it get any better than this true west coast setting...

We sat out on the patio with this view and enjoyed a yummy brunch week day at noon. The place was very busy, because they offer a fantastic value and great choices in this beautiful setting...

I used to live in the cove and this restaurant has been around for years, and the current longtime owners have a strong following of regulars. This whole package is worth the trip if you live south of the north shore.

A (late) birthday lunch with the wife and the folks ...and a baby too! They chose this place as I had never heard of it. It was the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch on a sunday afternoon. Rustic and comfortable decor with a splash of fine dining. Fresh seafood and a good drink selection. If you are ever out in the cove and you want a fancy yet not so fancy experience that warms your senses and your belly, check this place out for sure. Kid friendly but not in a day-care sort of way... I highly recommend...

Arms reach is a local deep cove treasure. Overlooking the water it has a peaceful yet fun atmosphere. The food is wonderful and although the prices have increased over the years it is still well worth it. Try the large patio in the summer. Great exposure to the ocean and the sun....relatively hard to find here in north vancouver!

Favorites- "CBC" curry butter chicken, cooked spagetti, and any of the specialty salads

The combination of a short but fast hike up Baden Powell Trail followed by one of the last outdoor summer lunches on the patio of Arms Reach, made it one of the most satisfying, indulgent lunches of the season.

The mussels in a chardonnay, lime cream sauce were cooked to perfection. The location by the water, friendly service and quiet serenity of Deep Cove make this a restaurant I am excited to go back to.

The breakfast menu at Arms Reach is small. You can either have a benny, eggs or yogurt with granola. I chose Timo's benny and it was really delicious. It came with the best side of potatoes I've had in Vancouver. My wife had the eggs and bacon. When we got the bill we thought they'd forgotten the coffees, but no, $20 actually gets you breakfast for two in Deep Cove. For the quality of the food and the spectacular view, I say that's a bargain.

This place is fantastic!  Great value, but the decor and service you would expect from a 4 star restaurant.  I had the prawn curry dish and the prawns were perfectly cooked, not over done and the sauce tasted authentic.  The mussels we had as an appetizer were cooked to perfection as the other review says.  Great west coast cuisine and a few ethnic fun options.  They accommodate families well too and the view out over Deep Cove is lovely.  This place is a gem.

Tried this wonderful restaurant for the first time last night.  Can't figure out why we haven't been before!  Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Salads are big enough for two to share.  The main courses were wonderful, beautifully presented, but the crown of the evening for me was the blueberry caramel bread pudding for dessert....mmmmmmm....
So why haven't I given it 5 stars?  Inside seating was available, but combo playing in corner with electric guitar and drums made it impossible to have any type of conversation.  We sat outside, swaddled in blankets, but tables were so small that our wine bottle had to sit on the ground and they had to remove the candle from the centre (which also held the S&P) to make room for the cocktails.
Overall, a great dining experience, but next time we will make sure to make reservations to sit inside as far away from the overpowering music as possible.

Great place for lunch with in town friends or out-of-town guests/family...My favorite:  a sandwich with smoked salmon and shrimp on focaccia and the most wonderful side salad/house dressing and seasoned fries...what a delicious treat! Whether its rainy or sunny, it is worth the drive for the spectacular view and outstandingly sincere service. Great outdoor patio, too with cozy blankets if the air off the cove is chilly...
