Review from Dia L.
After Gina K. review, I decided to drop by.
Turns out Sachiho was also my stylist. I had been going to a Korean Hair Salon in Burnaby, however due to a language barrier~ my haircuts has bee hits and misses.
I came in to have my hair "shaped" and to maintain length. My list was executed to perfection, it actually looks longer, voluminous and easier to manage. I really appreciated how the salon spends about an hour plus per client, and uses a Japanese treatments (this was included in the wash and cut). I also witness all the clients were treated with a hair and shoulder massage near the end of the service.
Nice! Will be back : ) -

This review is for Mika only because she's the bomb, and that's enough reason for me to never see any other stylist here.
As much as I love Chris over at Key Hair Studio, it's a little hard for me to justify paying over $100 for "just a trim." So while I'll still go to Chris for my more challenging or dramatic style changes, the rest of the time I'll be entrusting my hair to my #2 - Mika.
Mika gives a very good cut, and she works quickly which means I can count on being in & out in under an hour. As long as you provide her with pictures and clear direction on what you want to achieve, she can do it.
Even when I'm in a rush, Mika always insists on giving me a good shoulder & neck massage and styling up my hair with a touch of the straightening or curling iron.
So! A total sweetheart who works fast, keeps my hair in tip-top shape, and costs less than $55 (taxes & tip included) a visit? I couldn't be happier. -

Excellent service.
I brought my 5-year-old son to Ark. He was not in a good mood, resisted, and tried to run away from the booth. While I was trying to put him on the seat by force, another stylist came with a picture book to draw his attention. It was a success. He finally seated and let a stylist cut his hair. She stayed with him and played with him using the picture book while the other stylist was cutting his hair. He was happy at the end and even said he would like to come back.
They not only showed willingness to cope with customer's trouble, but solved the problem in a very peaceful way. I was very impressed by their customer service. The quality of haircut was also excellent. -
Review from Gina K.
I made an appointment with Sachiho. She was great. We spent ten minutes discussing what I wanted and going over pictures. Discussing what i wanted and want I wanted to avoid.
I have long hair, almost to the waist and I only wanted a trim and she was delicate and precise with her cuts. I was going to tell it's ok to cut more. But I held my tongue and she was right to make the little gingerly cuts because it still ended up being more than I thought she was cutting but exactly what I wanted.
The cut and shampoo and blow dry took longer than an hour and included a massage for 40 Dollars. -

I found it only fair to try two different stylists before reviewing here.. since it really is all about the stylist. The first girl I had about 6 months ago was a perfectionist. She was hot, Japanese, and tall, and for all you guys out there, I know this is probably the only criteria for going to get your hair cut. But for us ladies, this doesn't cut it. I had to tell her to stop because for an hour she kept cutting my hair shorter and shorter. Miserable.
So 6 months later I went back, knowing that my previous stylist had gone back to Japan. I got Miyuki and she was excellent. She dry-cut my hair because I just needed to get rid of dead-ends and wanted to grow out my hair. She did everything I wanted!! I had an excellent experience and now I would go back.
P.S. you have to go in and get a parking pass for the garage behind the salon.. you just take the elevator next door down to the garage to get back to your car. $40 for a haircut + tax. -

I've been going to Mika for a couple of years, and I must say she's my favorite! I've moved to Seattle from Vancouver, but I still go back to Vancouver just to get my haircut with Mika :) I always say she's my hairdresser, all the haircuts I get in Seattle are only fillers for her because I wasn't able to get to Van that month and I couldn't stand how wild my hair was getting!
She has always somehow known how I wanted my hair, and is always able to keep it long while cutting off just the right amount so my hair looks healthy again. She once gave me awesome thick bangs which I loved, too. She always does something a little special with my hair afterwards (curls and styles it), plus she gives a neck and head massage to boot :)
I personally love the care this salon takes with their clients, so friendly and accommodating! For $40 for a haircut, that's pretty good and a little bit below average in Van. It used to be $35, but hey, i'm not complaining! Salon's down in Seattle range about $50, so Ark is the right price for me (plus I get to chow down on great Vancouver Sushi right after my haircut!)
Try it out, you'll love it :)
