I really like this place. This was my first experience with laser hair removal. The receptionist/counter ladies are very nice and respectable.
They did a test patch to make sure my skin had no side effects to the laser. Came back a week later to get the area treated.
On the day of the treatment You have an option of adding a numbing cream to the area, however I didn't. The laser that was used on me is called "YAG laser". The procedure was short and not to painful.
My skin was red "sun burned" looking for two days, and peppered with black burned hair follicles. I washed the area with antibacterial soap just to make sure the area did not get infected.
I'm really happy with the way this company takes patients privacy and care important. The price for the procures will depends on many factors however let me tell you it's not going to be hundreds of dollars, whats nice about their payment is on pay as you go basis.
Make an appointment is so easy and there are no consultation fee. Trust me just do it. I'm a guy and I did it! Hate shaving! -

I had one appointment here and I found the staff rushed and unprofessional. The facility was not very clean either.
Soon after, I discovered from two friends who visited Arbutus that their skin was severely burned by the technicians. One friend's burn was so bad (burgundy and white burns on olive skin) that she couldn't walk or wear clothing on the area for one whole week. This happened two weeks before her honeymoon which, she had to cancel due to the second-degree burns. I visited Arbutus with her to show the Doctor the skin damage and the Doctor and clinician were both visibly shocked but still reiterated that the client had previously signed a waiver giving up all rights to sue in case of harm done to the patient, including burns. They didn't even offer to refund her! They just focused on the fact that she was not allowed to sue. -

The way this place is organized leaves something to be desired. Half the receptionists are good and the other half have attitudes and are incompetent and unprofessional. Never ask the receptionist any questions about lasers or anything else, I have found from repeat experience, they are not supposed to answer these questions and their answers are not reliable. That said, great service from the laser hair removal technicians. You never have to wait too long. I was originally referred here by my GP for a reddish scar and have also done the laser hair removal. As another reviewer said - don`t play around with other places that might be incompetent, these people know their stuff. Oh and STAY OUT OF THE SUN - even if you don`t have a tan. If you went in the sun the day before your treatment, they won`t do it on you (as I recently learned) because you will get burned. Full disclosure to save yourself any pain or burns or scarring - the scars can be permanent.

Dont bother farting around with group-buy malarky when it comes to having lasers pointed at you.
These guys are excellent. I had a very professional consultation where they gave me a very realistic expectation of my results. I'm a natural redhead (lucky me!) so was not sure what my results were going to be. I've been really pleased and so glad I have one less item on my personal grooming list.
They run a tight office, i've never had to wait to get into my appointment and man are they fast when you get in there!
Its really not that expensive, go to the best, spend the money, enjoy the results. -

I should have come here first regarding tattoo removal.
Instead, I went to a well known place downtown in a high-rise with beautiful modern decor. The Dr. was eager to get going on my removal after I asked if it would be gone in 3 months. WOW, had I known that there was no way this tattoo could not / would not be gone in 3 months, let alone EVER, I could have saved a few hundred bucks for a consultation fee & first (and only) treatment fee!
At Arbutus Laser Centre, I met with Dr. Mintz who was completely honest and forthcoming. Green, blue, purple inks take multiple multiple laser treatments, thousands of dollars and possibly years to remove. And my tattoo may end up looking better now than what some possible scarring I may be left with. So my dreams of having my tattoo removed were squashed in a matter of minutes with only one payment, which can go towards a different treatment.
Every Dr. should be this honest and lay it on the line for you instead of raking in your hard earned money. I'm disappointed that I'm stuck with my tattoos, but now I know and I know I won't be going back downtown for a 2nd treatment! -

The staff arent the friedliest but it was quite busy when I was in there so maybe I just felt neglected because they were chatting with so many people and trying to organize who was in what room with what doctor etc. Nonetheless overall a great experience, I went for my consultation and the main doctor of whole clinic came in to introduce himself and meet me, very nice touch! I had a test patch done for hair removal on my armpit and it hardly hurt at all, the lady walked me thru everything and overall I am nothing but stoked for my next visit! thanks guys, professional and great!

I was their customer a long time ago. I had my laser hair removal done there when they had their place just opened. I remember their charging scheme was 50% off for each additional session. That means you pay the most on your first session. Then you pay 50% of the price of your first session on the same treatment area and so on. Over these 10+ years, I have never seen my hair regrown to the amount I had before my treatments. I only did four times there then I stopped the treatments because I had to leave the country. But the result is long lasting. I think if I had done it more times I would get hair free.

I am having both tattoo removal and laser hair removal and could not be happier with both.
Hair: Funny, fun and skilled ladies make this procedure easy and nearly painless. They really made me excited for the results, and genuinely seemed happy for me! It is genuinely affordable as well, not even factoring in all of the lifetime savings on razors and waxing in the future!
Tattoo: the doctor, who works at UBC and does this as almost a hobby, is professional, while at the same time cracking a few wry jokes. I trust his technique completely.... even though it is probably the single most painful thing I have EVER felt (totally not their fault, just the nature of the game! And that is even with anithetic cream applied - I was shaking for an hour. I can't believe I have to go through it all again. Eep.
The reception staff are really nice and atmosphere in the waiting room is relaxing.
I cannot recommend the procedures enough - and this is the place to do it! :)Listed in: My Very Favourites

I've been going here now for 1.5 years and I've seen Cheryl and Marci and both of them are amazing. I'm extremely happy with the results and the fact that I have not been burned once (unlike at other laser centres *cough couch* Dermal Laser *cough*!). Both of these ladies take care to make sure I have the least amount of discomfort possible, which is great!

I've now been here twice, plus one time for a consultation. My first laser hair removal experience nearly 3 years ago (not here) nearly traumatized me for all future attempts (I left there shaking for an hour, practically huddled in a corner, nearly speaking to myself...ok, slight exaggeration). Happily I got back on the horse....well, my desire for hair-free-ness got me back on the horse.
And alas I found out about this place from a friend who had done a TON of research and ended up here. My experience thus far has been great. I highly suggest Juli...she is no-fuss, to the point, and will tell you like it is. And she will get you through what really is a pretty painful process, but she does it QUICK. Thank you thank you for that. Although I cannot speak to the whole center, Juli is fantastic.
I'm happy with the price, so far happy with the results, and Juli makes me laugh - she really is very good at her job. Highly recommended! -

Ok ladies (and gents) if you're considering laser treatment, I say don't waste any more time- you'll find its one of the best things you've ever done and wonder why you waited so long. I researched and checked out a number of places before coming to Arbutus Laser. Juli, my technician, makes you feel right at home (if that's possible with laser hair removal) and does her best to get you out of there as fast as possible. I recommend Arbutus Laser, my friends who have gone have been equally as happy.
