I went here every Monday with my mother for years. I never had the high tea, but I never felt the need to. Though it is available, I just got tea and a desert.
Their tea selection is huge, but it is mostly black teas. Green and rooibos are few and far between. More British than Asian in that regards. That being said, the black teas are astounding. From Pear plum, to Earl Grey cream. You can even buy some tea to bring home if you like it. Sugar is available (as well as honey, if requested.) They also offer milk, but I don't think they offer any alternative.
Their food is basically all made right there, from deserts to soups, to take home fudge. It all tastes superb, but being made right there has made the main entries a little pricey. Make sure to try the grilled cheese focaccia, and the super light scones with the works. The devonshire cream is addictive.
The tea room gift shop takes after Applewood's slogan "just like grandma's." The items are very 50's inspired, with a few things from different eras. Mostly kitchen, some children, all very unique but a tad pricey.
If you want to take your kids along, there are drinks and food that the little ones would like -- even a dress dress up section with gloves and hats. -

I love this place. Tea shop, cafe, bakery and fudge shop all in one.
The cafe is a great place for lunch and has an amazing variety of (mostly black) tea (try the queen mary!) Everything on the menu is made in the store and is therefore a little pricey but I have had a few savory items and a lot of the sweet items and enjoyed every single thing.
Tea is served in miss-matched china and the sugar is coloured (heart!)
The store is packed full of treasures and yet doesnt seem crowded. -

Applewood Country Gifts and Tea House is a small establishment with big heart! The gift shop area is lovely...how do they fit so much merchandise in there? But it's not chaotic, overflowing or hard to sift through. The items are sweet, of good quality and range from baby things to handmade jewelry to cotton lace nighties (and, of course, tea-related things galore).
The real fun is the tea house, though. I had high tea with my sister, mom and niece. We were each served our choice of tea (there were so many I wanted to try...I went with the Earl Grey Cream. Delish!), and had 3 courses of food: savories, scones, and dainties. Tiny egg sandwiches, mushroom rolls, salmon puffs and cucumber croissants started us off. Then, onto the scones, which came with devonshire cream, raspberry jam and lemon curd on the side. Then the sweets to finish off. There's a bakery section so you can take home your favourite treats. They also have a kid's menu for high tea.
High tea isn't the only option. You can also drop in for tea and sweets, but if high tea is your goal, you must make reservations!
We had a great time and left full (we actually had to have some of the sweets packed to go, because we just couldn't finish them all). The staff were friendly and the environment is casual. There are even hats and gloves for little girls to wear during tea, if they so wish.
