I went Sunday for lunch.  Yes it is new and the staff seems very confused, although very pleasant.  There were many staff walking around smiling.

My problem was with the food, I ordered the Bacon Chipotle burger.  Yes there was bacon but a tiny tiny smear and no taste of chipotle sauce.

I tried to get someone to fix the problem, they were all dashing around but not stopping.  Finally  the server returned, I told her what had happened.  She said sorry I will tell the kitchen and walked away.  Much later she suddenly appeared with more chipotle sauce, not much use as the burger was almost finished.  I told her this, she smiled and walked away.   Later another server came to take the plates away, I told him the story, he said he would tell the kitchen and the Boss Man.  Then walked away.

They gave me a feedback card with a code to enter on the webpage.  It did not work, so my feedback is here instead.

After being in Applebee's for a few minutes, I said to my wife " Wow, what a food factory!".

It was so obvious that the restaurant was a chain, pumping out as much as they could as fast as they could.

I realized when we got our order why so many people on The Biggest Loser get to be so big, if these types of chains are so prevalent in the States.

Everything was fried, covered in cheese, or sauce, or both and just "ok" when it came to taste.

For the $60, which included a couple of beers, I feel like there are about 100 other places I could go in Victoria and get far more for my money.

    I won't be back.

All the food was of the lowest quality, highest profit margin. 2 out of 4 tables around us either sent food back or complained about the quality of what they got. Servers are trying hard, but don't have much to work with. It's not just the quality of the food being used for the menu, its the menu items themselves We were totally unimpressed with our meal. Everything was bland and full of white bread based items and cheap cheese. Just about any of the other family restaurants (white spot, ABC, etc) turn out better meals.

In a nutshell: good staff, garbage food.

I don't know why I keep thinking that chains who come to BC will always work to emulate the successes of Earls or the Cactus Club or Milestone's, as I just end up being sadly mistaken.
I can almost say that I was scared when we were greeted by the staff at the door, the over exhuberance of the Hostess made me quite fearful for what lay ahead..and then the next staff person was friendlier than friendly can be, and when we were hoisted off on yet another server, who was surely a glee club alumni...we truly found out why...the food...it was all a cloak and dagger/ smoke and mirrors routine to take our attention away form the quality of the food. Nice try Applebee's, but ya need to give up the gig sunshine!
We had two salads, two girls, two salads and two plates that did not get emptied...it's salad for cripes sakes, we should have eaten it all... and no inquiry as to why...because they know...they know there should be more chicken and less dressing on their chicken caesar and they know they shouldn't have run out of the dressing for their signature spinach salad...and so they smile, and avoid, because it's the only way they're going to be able to save face in front of their customers and not go home flogged and beaten.
Applebee's You Can Do Better Than That...and you should...Heavens!!
And massive thumbs up and kudos to the staff who cover for you out on the floor each and every day..they deserve a medal for being forced to serve up the meals you've designed with smiles on their faces.

Cold McCain Superfries, processed cheese and white bread. Nice staff, trying hard. Maybe it'll improve when it's been around awhile.

The taste tells you this is a chain.
