If I could give this a 0 I would, I hate this place that much. The only good part about the whole applebee's experience was the hostess that seated us and the pomegranate iced tea.
Our waitress berated us with questions about appetizers, after the 10th question of "do we want an appetizer" and us stating "Noooooo WE DON'T" I wanted to kill myself.
We ordered, the food was BLAND. I got a side salad with my meal instead of fries, there was so much lettuce in my "chicken rollup" that I added it to my salad to make it a full sized portion. It was $38 dollars plus tax and I felt robbed after paying, also sadenned that I had suggested it for my mom's birthday (I had never been to one before). I did they're survey online, some places give customers who didn't have a plesant experience vouchers for another try, if I receive one I will chuck it out, that's how much I don't ever want to go here again. I suggest you don't go here either unless you want to eat boring ass food and pay way too much for it.

Too expensive for the horribly small portion sizes and bland tasting food. So horrible it's ridiculous.

I had hear of Applebee's before, (who hasn't?), but it was my understanding that this "restaurant" was an American phenomenon and had not made its way north of the border, so it is easy to imagine my delight? Surprise? There isn't a word but imagine horror combined with unchecked enthusiasm and then you have what I felt. The interior was not a gaudy as I expected  but then again I pretty much expected a replica of Moe's Family Feed Bag. The décor reminded me of a friends basement, comfortable for others but not for me. My dining companion was (as she usually is) vegetarian which I thought would be no difficulty but it turns out that there are no vegetarian main dishes on the Applebee's menu, she eventually decided to go with the grilled cheese that came with bacon. I would like to say that I was overwhelmed with choice and everything on the menu was just too delectable, too sinfully good, but the truth is that I got heartburn just reading the menu. I can't say for certain but it is my distinct impression that everything on the menu had either bacon or cheese and most combined the two. After serious deliberation I decided on the mini cheeseburgers, which are half the size of a regular hamburger and so you get three. I realize that there is a niche for food based solely on the theory of empty calories, but shouldn't it at least taste good? It didn't and made me feel as though I had just ingested all this fat and grease for nothing. I wanted to like Applebee's but it was terrible and expensive which I would think would be a recipe for failure but maybe it's just too entrenched in the American culture. I don't recommend this restaurant and while the restaurant scene in Barrie may not be the finest you certainly can do better.
