As an american traveling and in need of a new sim for my ipad, my sales associate Kyle went above and beyond.  Not only did he show me all the 3G pricing and options with the different companies, he even installed my sim for me!  I was in and out in 10 minutes and it was all done for free.  If I had picked up the SIM from Rogers or Bell it would have been $15-$20.  But Apple gave it to me for free.

    Love love love it!

I am writing this review on behalf of my friend. My friend bought a MacBook at this Apple store. Unfortunately his shiny new laptop didn't balance perfectly on flat surfaces. He said left part of the computer was slightly higher. So he went back to the store for an exchange. The exchange process was very smooth according to my friend. He was out of the store within 5 minutes. He met up with me, and we went to his place to unbox his new laptop. And he was disappointed again....

First, the laptop had some lemony scented sticky goo on the cover. I think it was some adhesive for industrial purpose.

Second, the edges around the keyboard+trackpad panel wasn't smooth. When I ran my hand along the edge, it felt worn out. It didn't feel sharp or polished.

Third, the laptop doesn't latch perfectly. When it is closed, I noticed that one side of the screen is higher. And when I slowly closed the screen, one side of the screen latched well before the other.

My friend brought it back to the store for an exchange. The store then gave him a new laptop very quickly. He opened it in the store because he didn't want to come back for another exchange. To his amazement, he found out that the laptop's screen was not balanced perfectly. He demanded a refund. Then the employee told him that the store always gives a "refurbished item" in case of exchange. An item that was returned due to problems. An item that had issues right out of the factory. An item that a customer didn't want. Not a shiny new product. The one that someone got rid of due to problems. Not fresh out of the factory. It's not just this Apple store... I don't know what to say. There you go. There is the secret to Apple's customer service. He got his refund but he didn't get $50 or something back since he opened the box. Unbelievable! He returned an item because it came with a defect, and he didn't get a full refund! Not only that, he had to go to a store 3 times. Furthermore due to Apple's business practice of giving the customers used items for exchanges, this is not acceptable at all.

    He bought a PC instead.

PS. I have several Apple products - MacBook Pro, iMac, 2 iPods and iPhone. I love their products. But I am not a fan of their service and business practice.

ZOMG! Could this place get any more crowded? I only go there when I absolutely have to. Do your research apriori, go in and get out as fast as you can.

I have been to other locations in the US and in Europe and this one by far is the least zen.

I've gone here a few times to meet with them Genius Bar folks. I don't mind the delay even after making an appointment; sorta inevitable like waiting at the doctor's. However, I do mind the bedlam surrounding me while waiting for the delay. It's a total barn house.

The Genius Bar guys have been consistently superb. One interaction stands out: I went in around 5 pm on a Sunday to get my top case replaced and since I was on a deadline, Harry turned it around for me in 30 mins, even though it was close to closing! He also told me that apparently top cases on the macbooks are replaceable for free up to 5 years after initial purchase! Phew! since I've already replaced mine a few times and my extended warranty has long demised. Harry also picked up on the funkiness of my missing serial number and rectified it.

The staff here seem to have a handle on the crowds, but I've always had to stalk someone and then pounce the moment he/she becomes free to help me with my non genius bar questions. It's pretty Darwinian in there!

I went there this past weekend with hopes of getting a new laptop. Unfortunately I had to wait over 30min even though I had booked an appointment ahead of time. The store was VERY busy and there were definitely too many people in the store when I went, making it crowed and uncomfortable to get around the store to see the products. I would suggest to anyone going, try a different location if you are going on the weekend or visit the store when it is off-peak (i.e. during the day, not on the weekend).

Like every store, you have the good and the bad, and sometimes the ugly.  The apple store doesn't escape this notion.  The mecca retail outlet is nothing but a genius move by Steve Jobs in order to get users to try out its products as one of its competitive advantages is excellent user interface and portability.  I thought the new watch strap band for the Nano was genius.  Whoever came up with this should be commended on their common sense. The only issue i have is battery life when using the accelerometer function to record distance and time.

In my confusion while shopping in NYC, I accidentally purchased the Nike+ sensor.  The best thing about this store is that it took it back as a return since I didn't have a receipt for Canada.  I was credited the regular Canadian retail price.

There was only one line to deal with purchase returns though there were literally half a dozen guys in blue shirts behind the counter.  I watched as they politely turned people away by telling them they are "tech support only".

Although there is a swarm of blue-shirt wearing staff, they seemed more busy talking to each other than tending on customers.  I was served by a black shirt wearing guy. I asked him why he was the only one with a different shirt. He said his department is B to B so they wear a different color.

Overall the staff is friendly and most of them appeared knowlegeable. There's no complaints for now, till perhaps when I am in need of another apple products. If the one down in NYC was more helpful, I wouldn't have purchased an item that I don't even need.  You don't need the sensor for the new Nano since it is built in.  Not sure what's so difficult about that to explain.

Although I rate this "Meh. I've experienced better" I can't say that I have -  because honestly, in terms of Apple Stores in Toronto, there's not much.

I find the place teeny tiny with low ceilings and poor ventilation. It smells, it's hot, and not to mention everyone has giant jackets (winter time). It's not pleasant.

Way too many people stuffed in here, not only customers and people using the internet, but lots of blue shirts. All is good with this, and it should be like this. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and kudos to the everyone in here who is patient with all types of customers.
This location doesn't have the luxury of expanding out into the table in the middle of the aisle (like Yorkdale). I'm curious if this helped with the crowdedness inside.

Saturday at 12pm I made a Genius Bar appt in store for 3:30pm. I returned, but had to wait over 45 mins for my turn (and went out to pay my meter twice, it's $$$!). They say they are short staffed, but it kills me because the store is at least 30% blue shirts.

It would be nice to have each person identified on a larger scale by their expertise, like GENIUS, SALES, CHECK IN, etc.
Checking in, you have to ask someone who will point to someone else who's holding an iDevice and with a distinguishing characteristic (today was a beard).
You're in a queue, but it's not shown on the screen above the Genuis Bar like it used to be. So you have to keep asking him.
When it's finally your turn, you get called loudly by someone. In such a crowded area, it's hard to hear.

When I finally got to meet with someone, they came to me and did everyone on an iDevice. (This is nicer cuz in the past, you'd have to wait in line at a counter to a person with a laptop).
The whole thing was straight forward, and took less than 10 mins, including payment.*

If you have an Apple Store that is closer to you and less busy, I suggest going there.
The other problem with such busy-ness is that, it's not comfortable at all to come in here and peruse all the iDevices.
One thing I do wish for this location, is to improve the air flow and maybe have a window or something to let in more light (as opposed to feeling like you're in a cave). Went to the Apple Store in Hong Kong, and even with such expensive rent over there, the store was a completely different experience.

*in case you're wondering, the pins on my Ipod Touch got destroyed, and it cannot be fixed. $150+taxes to swap it for a brand new one (device only, not the box, and 90 days warranty).

I was here last week, and it was pretty busy.  I signed up for one of those workshops - I'm kind of a tech dummy so I found it pretty helpful.  The guy running the workshop knew alot of stuff ~ and I met a really cool dude in my workshop who loves loves loves the Apple eco-system.

The store also has a really high staff to customer ratio, and most of the people there are super helpful.  It's a really nice retail shopping experience.

PS - apparently using the iCloud is pretty easy, in case anyone was wondering ;)

This store is always packed. You could come on a Monday morning and the store would still be teeming with geeks.

I've only purchased the odd thing here as I usually find it cheaper elsewhere, but you can't beat the knowledge of the staff. They've been able to help me out with any question I've had regarding technical issues or what accessories are available for my iPhone.

Situated in the only mall downtown this stores sees a considerable amount of traffic and as a result it's hard to find a "genius" to tend to your needs and there's a considerable number of people that spend longer than they should on the internet. It's not that big so everything is pretty close together with people bumping around each other.

But everything that I love with Apple Stores in general are obviously here with free wifi, staff that know what they are doing with fancy iPads handy and while they might be hard to snatch, once you snag one of them the do their job in an efficient manner and obviously fancy products and everything is now polished up with an iPad acting as a display and info for each and every product on display. As with all Apple/Tech shops, make sure to clean your hands after playing around with public touchscreens!

If you are one to line up for a new product launch, my advice is to avoid this location at all costs. When I was looking to get an iPad on opening day this store had well over a 100 people in line while the Yorkdale line was less than half that length.

I asked a girl some information about the software stuff etc for the macbook pro. She were not able to answer my question and wasn't very nice with me, she acted like she does'nt care about me.
On the other hand, I was with a very nice girl and the guys were pleased to help her. If they don't like your face, these guys won't help you.. Not profressionnal at all...

Welcome brothers and sisters to the Church of Saint Steve of Cupertino! Come and be grudgingly ministered to by one of our apostles of indifference or watch your name s_l_o_w_l_y progress along the path to enlightenment as you wait for your seat at the Delphic oracle that is ... The Genius Bar.

Aside from the fact that every time I walk into an Apple Store I am confronted by the laughable image of walking into a 1970s Sci-Fi flick, the Eaton Centre edition provides the added chuckles of serving as a warning for rampant population growth.  It's always too crowded!

On a recent I walked in seeking a power cord for the current version of the Mac Mini.  After THREE trips to "the back" I was informed that they are "not sold to the public".  At this point I physically walked him over to the Mini on display and pointed - "this thing.  the thing that makes it work. that's what I need"  Yup.  Don't sell them.  After one more trip to "the back" I was informed that I could order one as a service part; it would take up to two weeks and be $45.

So I picked my jaw up off the floor, thanked him for his help (damn you polite society!) and went to Chinatown and purchased a cable for $2.99.

When the great brand merry-go-round starts to swing away from Apple (it will, it will) the punditry will seek ground zero - where did it all start to go wrong? - perhaps we should reserve space for the bronze plaque at the Eaton Centre store.

I'm sorry but I had THE worst customer service ever at the Eaton's Centre Apple store. I called ahead of time and asked to make an appointment but was told not to bother, just walk in and that I'd be able to be helped right away. It was teeming full of people and more than enough staff just standing around, hot as a sauna in there and smelled like teenagers and dirty gym lockers.

They only had 3 employees working iPhone upgrades/activations. The person who brought me over to the console area told me it'd be about a 15 minute wait and then disappeared... I wasn't too worried I was second up.

45 minutes later one of them finally freed up for my turn, said he'd be right with me and left a console free to take the customer to the cashier before returning. I was relieved since my friend had come along and I felt bad making her wait. And our parking meter was going to run out.

Then, before the other dude came back, another employee swoops in and takes his customer couple that he had snagged up to the console. I politely said excuse me I was just about to be helped I was in line but the employee just turned his back on me and said "well he's not here and my clients will be faster than you will be so just back off and wait ok?"

I was taken aback and said "look I wasn't trying to be rude I just didn't understand why they got to be served before me." He just ignored me... then the wife decided to throw in her 2 cents and snapped that they'd been there for a while too, probably longer than me anyway.
I could hear the employee chuckling.

If only my eyes had death rays.

I basically was at that point where you debate just saying fuck it and leaving but you also feel like you've waited this long it's gotta be your turn soon and it'd be stupid to leave... I stayed like a sucker and had to wait another 30 minutes.

Finally it was my turn and the girl that helped me was rad; very nice and apologetic for the wait times blahblahblah, I smiled, nodded, but I was past the point of small talk I just wanted to get this shit done. She got me good to go in about 20 minutes. Douchewad was still dealing with his lovely duo of mid-life crisis next to us.

Whatever, it's done, I finally have a phone again and can stop using my work-issued one... now I just have to figure out how this stupid thing works. Trust me, trek to the Riverdale or Yorkdale stores.

TL;DR I know but I'm entitled to at least one long rant right?

I want to hate on the Apple store so bad. But I can't based on my experience.

I've been trying to get an iPad with some Eaton Centre gift certificates - going through the annoying process of trying to reserve them online the day before. Futile.

On a whim, I decided to stop by and ask them what I should do to get my damned hands on one. Bunch of geeks in those blue shirts were like "Bro, we got some right here...you want one?" Yes, yes I did. I was in and out with an iPad in like...5 minutes. And most of those minutes were spent rubbing the glue off the back of the gift cards. They ran in the back to bring out a sample of the leather backed covers. I'm very tactile. I liked that.

Anyways, I read Rian's review and was hoping to add this place to my Worst Experiences List...but they were OK. She was right on a big account though - lots of dolts running around in there. Helpless, frustrating dolts.

Apple convert? God no. This thing is fruity!

    But pretty sweet.

    WOW!

The place was bustling, the energy was high, the vibe was positive, lots of trendy looking people - I almost thought it was some sort of launch party.

Initially I had gone to Best Buy to purchase a power adapter for my macbook.  I had gone to the geek squad to inquire whether it was my battery that was faulty or my adapter.  They tested it out and told me it was my adapter.  Fortunately they were out of the model I needed.  By the way, the experience I had at Best Buy was kind of uninspiring - the place was a little empty, the lighting is dim, the energy kind of low.  The Geek Guy was not that helpful either.

So, I headed the Apple Store.

My experience here was completely opposite than the one I had at the Best Buy.  The Apple Guy took the time to assess my battery, link me to a website on tips on how to extend battery life, and even offered to install the battery - if I bought it from best buy - at the Apple Store - since they were presently out of stock.

And so many of the sales associates (girls and guys) came over to say hi to my little guy - and he loved it.  The guy helping me said my little guy was even more popular with the staff than Drake, haha :)  But seriously, I even saw some people taking photos of my little guy with their iphone - I don't mind - I think he is cute too :)

I will definitely return to the Apple Store and I encourage you do too!  :)

    Still a fan!

I needed the services of the Genius Bar for two issues so made an appointment online for a Friday afternoon because I was off work.  There were plenty of slots that day according to the website.  When I went in I headed to the bar at the back where a guy stood with an iPad and checked me in, then pointed me to a free stool.  I was waiting a while beyond my given time but after a while was taken to Adam.  He wasn't enormously chatty but was nice.  I needed a new part which he ordered in-said it would be 5 business days or so.  He managed to fix the other issue after a few attempts at trying different things.  I was kind of glad he didn't fix it in 2 seconds.  I would have felt totally stupid!  He answered all my questions really patiently.

5 business days later I got a call saying my part was in.  I made another appointment and headed in.  Again, there was a bit of a wait.  The store is really stuffy.  I suggest wearing layers if going in there!  Cyril looked after me this time and took my laptop into the back to fit the part.  The big bonus was that it was all free-even though they technically could have charged, despite my Applecare agreement.

I liked it that they conferred between themselves when they were having an issue or wondering how to do something.  Sometimes there were two of them trying to figure out how to get a rebellious iPhone to connect or a MacBook to behave.  I overheard quite a bit of a learning session with an older woman.  I have no idea how the genius managed to stay so patient with her.  Claps for him!  I couldn't do that job...

The Nike+ chip in my shoe's battery was dying and I needed a replacement. This meant I had to go the the Apple Store. I'm not going to lie to you, I'm a bit of an agoraphobe, so I tend to avoid the Eaton Centre like the plague. Actually, sometimes I think I'd rather get the plague and be stuck in my house for a while than have to go to the Eaton Centre.

I've also always been extra afraid of the Apple Store because every time I walk past it, there's a club district style line up outside. I don't like clubs. The last time I went to a club (it was for my friend's birthday) I was strip searched and they took away my Epipen. I got it back on the way out, but still. It was weird.

I got up early, took a deep breath and went in. I found the shoe chip dealy and a new pair of headphones for my iPhone and then headed for the cash register... except that there was no cash register. My pulse rate started to go up as I frantically searched for a cash register. I listened for the sound of a cash register... there is no cash register in this place. How do I pay? Fortunately, before I went into full panic attack mode, a young man came up and asked me if I was paying with credit or debit. I said I was and he pulls a scanner out of his pocket. What!? He rings through my purchase and then asks me for my e mail address so he can e mail me my receipt. What!? This place is the future, man! E mailing my receipt? That's just crazy.

Now, I've never had to go to the Apple Store for anything serious, like repairs or anything so I can't comment on that, but it was a pretty good experience considering the level of dread I had going in.

Am I Really the Only person that does not like the Apple Store? I guess its fun to wander in and gawk, revel in your technophilia and know that you are-in-fact a member of a shiny happy super squad that is slowly infiltrating the earth. I get it and all.

And of course the geniuses are nice, super friendly, all charming in the super-enthusiastic-slightly-socially awkward-ironic-eyewear-not-so-inconspicuously-tatt ooed kind of way. Plus TWICE now they have replaced something that I was returning past warranty.

And the casual-I-can-help-you-with-that-you-can-pay-from-h ere handheld digital terminal solutions are awesome. I like that they are organized and efficient and know everything about me via my apple Id.

BUT I cannot possibly get past how unbelievably annoying it is to actually try to buy anything here. Want a MacBook? Want to look at the different monitors? Want to spend over a grand? Good luck actually being able to try a product first. Bumping elbows with clans of teens checking their facebook, writing emails, playing games. Part cyber-cafe part arcade it is IMPOSSIBLE to actually get access to any of the models to check them out.

I get that Apple is trying to cultivate a culture of laissez-faire-techno-cool here but PLEASE. People trying to purchase items should take priority, not be meant to queue for a spot at a terminal surrounded by giggling teenage girls Beiber-blogging. WORST.

I'm getting old. And buying online from now on.

I finally understand how to buy/do things in the place. Maybe that's what happens after you own a Mac for a year -- Apple's way of thinking seeps into your brain. I love how you can buy any item from anywhere in the store. An employee will ring up your purchase using an iPod touch and scan your item with the same device.

After a transaction last week when I got a way-too-expensive video cable for my mac, the cashier turns the iPod to me and said, "is this you?" My e-mail address flashed on the screen and with a push of a button, my receipt was e-mailed to me instantly. No paper required! I felt like I had visited a store in the future.

And like the future, the the prices were accordingly higher. ("$30? Back in my day we bought cellphone cases on eBay for $5.50! You crazy kids.")

N.B. Barn smell has subsided about 40%.

Really? I understand that they always wanna be the most packed store at the mall, that you can stay there as many hours as you want with almost nobody annoying you, but for somebody that just wants to actually get in, buy something and be out of there is a nightmare!

I went there one day to buy a laptop to my brother, it took really a while to go through the whole process, but the worst was still about to happen. Unfortunately when I came home to try the new toy, it didn't even turn on properly (after i discovered i was the 1 in a million luck one), probably something with the motherboard. The other day i had to go back there to check what happened and change the piece eventually. I got at the place, it took me more than 40 minutes to be attended and more 1 hour to see that nothing could be done and they needed to change the machine.

Concluding, to have fun checking your fb or to take pics at the store (they had girls there doing it!) may be good if it is fun in your opinion... to behave as a normal consumer, it sucks!

Glad that I have an Acer...

Finally. My touch is in. Only 3 weeks later. I've added a star because the "genius" that helped me this time (Suzy) actually managed something I've not seen in the 8 other geniuses I've posed what I assumed were simple questions. Suzy displayed independent thought and initiative. And her answer to every question wasn't "I don't know", a phrase I've determined is the only off script answer these geniuses are allowed to give.

    Let me explain.

I approached the genius bar, found a free genius and began to explain why I was there. He stared off into space and ignored me. Suzy approached quickly. I explained I heard a rumor my touch was in, gave her the repair number, and she went into the mysterious back where the managers appear to hide and practice their "I don't know" and train their staff in the art of the casual shrug.

Then the wait began. It seemed to be taking a long time to grab a box.

Suzy eventually reappeared and explained there was a small problem. Their system crashed.

"I thought Macs weren't supposed to do that?"

I explained this was the final indignity and it wasn't converting me in any way over to the cult of the Mac. I requested a manager to speak to, knowing from 3 past visits this will only produce a casual shrug and an "I don't know".

Suzy surprised me. She went into the back and produced my touch. "The system is still down but I'm going to break the rules and give you the touch anyway."

    Get. The. Fuck. Out.

Another thing I liked about Suzy is she displayed empathy.

Thoughts: The only explanation any genius could offer me why 3 days became three weeks is they're in iPhone 4 crunch time. Getting new iPhones into customer hands is taking priority. Since Apple always seems to be in a hot product release cycle, those needing after service will always be second class citizens. Add to this the staff and managers totally lack the ability to use their crazy computers to view the supply chain and the managers seem to have only the authority to hire hippsters. I've had a needle lung biopsy more pleasant than any five seconds I've spent in the Eaton Apple Store.

Coincidentally, as I type this update to my original review, I'm once again eating Stroopwafel at my laptop!!

After the 100th dropped call on my iPhone, plus a grab bag of other niggling idiosyncrasies (battery going from 100% to 0% in two hours since the latest software update), I decided to show up at Apple Store and see what their diagnosis was. After all, I did have precisely five days left on my one year warranty. I showed up at 11:30am and got an appointment for 15 minutes later.

(And I swear I don't only award these guys top marks just because they keep giving me free stuff.)

Dylan, another California-esque cutie with a sharp haircut and killer tats, had a gander at my phone and after sharing a laugh over the general incompetence and blamegaming of Rogers tech support, he suggested replacing the phone. For free. Why not? Still under warranty, right? He wiped the phone in front of me, juiced up the new 3GS with the latest OS and handed me my phone about 15 minutes later.

    Too easy.

I had some recent tactile deficiencies with my iPhone 3GS and became quickly tired of being unable to press down with no results on the left side of the screen, so I made my appointment at the Genius Bar four days in advance, as this would inevitably be my next opportunity to get back to the Apple Store.  The whole process was done onsite and took less than 2 minutes.  The associate situated at the store entrance simply took my info down in her ipad and I was all set to go.

I arrived four days later, albeit a half hour later than my scheduleed appointment, yet this proved to be a minor setback as I simply had to wait an extra half hour to be seen.  This was due to my own ineptitude in arriving on time so I was thankful to even be given a same day appointment as the store buzzed like a beehive around me.  I waitied my requsite half hour and came back.  I was immediately seen by "Sarah," who told me that I had 35 days left on my warranty and that I could sit down while she ran some tests in the back.  She was back less than 10 minutes later with a fully functioning iPhone.  Thank you "Sarah" and Genius Bar for helping me in a dire time of need.

If you need to fondle the wares then by all means go...  But be prepared to wait for the never-ending stream of teeny-boppers and hipsters will be waiting to pre-fondle everything and occupy the sales staff with useless questions about this thing, that thing and the other all without a dime in their grubby little paws to buy anything!

If you know what you want, go, grab, and run to the "cash" which is really just a guy or girl near the back at the centre table with no clear sign that says "pay here".  They have a iphone with a card-reader so you just swipe, pin and run.

For peet sakes people...  Apple answers EVERYTHING you could possibly ask about the products ONLINE!  You don't need to go ask some poorly trained sales monkey to give you misinformation!

buy n' dash buy n' dash!  That's all you need from this store... Unless of course you really want to fondle an ipad.

9 am on Monday morning, it was the most earliest I had ever put my foot inside the Eaton Centre.  What was I doing there so early, you ask?

To get a phone for my significant other.  Not just any other phone, an iPhone 4. (Things you would do for your love one, eh?)

Taking a chance and hoping that a new shipment would come in on Monday morning.  I walked toward the end of the line and couldn't help feeling like a loser (freaking last person in line).  "25th person, not bad," I tried to be positive.  Twenty five minutes passed, woo hoo, I was no longer the last person, someone else had taken that title.  "Losers!"  Just kidding.  I would never say that out loud.

Two hours later, the Apple crews came out and told us that a shipment had came in.  Bingo!

Initially, the Apple team was taking people one-by-one inside the store.  Thirty minutes later, hooray, the manager stepped out from the store and had a little chat with the guy in charge of the queue.   Quick thinking manager probably told his team, "hey, I have an idea ... why not take several people who want to buy unlocked phones or who are with same network (instead of one-by-one), to speed things up a little."  Finally, someone with good common sense!

Twelve thirty pm, I walked out from the store with an iPhone 4.  Mission accomplished.

Apple squad is a group highly trained people to represent the brand.  Kudos to all of them for being very professional and helpful, even in stressful situation (especially when being asked the same question over, and over again by different  people).  The store manager worked side-by-side with his team and tried to get people out quickly with the new iPhone.  That's good leadership!

Five stars for their superb dependable service.

    They almost look like people.

Those monochromatic shirts.  The noserings.  The cool shoes.  The hipster haircuts.    The iPod pins on their lapels.

But do not be fooled.   These are well trained brand-ambassadors.   The essence of corporate robot.   Paid to make you feel that your pending purchase is so earth-shattering cool that you truly are a part of changing the world.

Oh you individual you.  Expressing yourself by rallying against the masses and buying a non-descript white box.

I most recently came in here to buy a battery for my laptop...

"My battery is dead"  I say.

"Oh, that's cool."  says the automoton with the flippy hair.

"No, it's not.  Baseball is cool.  Van Halen is cool.  Knife fights are cool.  This is just a simple dead battery."

"Ok, radical"  she says, directing me to the wall of live batteries.

I figure at this point that the fake-friendly conversation will be more entertaining and enjoyable than the actual purchase.

"I am learning how to domesticate Raccoons."   I say.

"Oh, awesome.  You should try Keynote!  It rocks!"

This Apple store is not very pleasant to go into.  It is always busy and smells like a university library during exam period + gym socks.   Maybe not the image that Apple wants to project!

I found it extremely frustrating to get any service in here until I realized that one of the staff were one of my friends!  Problem solved.  But beyond that, I question whether or not it would be that fast.  I know, you're supposed to make a reservation at the Genius Bar, but this really prevents any sort of on-the-spot help.

And on that note, I've bought Apple products twice in my life, and both times they have had faulty hardware issues!  Booo!!

TIGER WOODS!!! My iPhone won't charge and has less than 20% of its juice left (if someone comments on one of my FaceBook pics my phone will essentially die!) I walked in hopeful but knew that there was a good chance my problem would not be covered.

Somehow I managed to pull out the plastic cover that keeps my prongs (where the charger goes) intact. Every subsequent charge therefore resulted in me mashing the prongs until they were rendered useless (in other words I'm Tiger Woods!)

I booked this appointment at the day of for 1:30pm ... and arrived at 1:45pm. I was told that my appointment was probably cancelled but that they would just rebook me for... NOW! (that is so cool!)

My Genius guy was great. I explained the problem and he told me he would check to see if this was covered in my warranty. A few minutes later he came back to say that it wasn't. Then he pointed to a hairline crack in my phone and asked "is it possible this happened BEFORE your prongs got Tiger Woods? I said yes and he cheerfully said "well that's great because that's covered in your warranty... lets get you a new phone!"

So that was it... no arguing, no having to defend myself, no having to pay for a stupid repair and no attitude. Within 10 minutes I had a new phone and new respect for this store. I have been here many times and I have always had excellent service!

***BTW "Tiger Woods" is my new word for f*cked. I hope the censor Gods approve***

    Dear Phil from Apple

Yesterday at 2:00pm you changed my life. No you didn't give me a winning lottery ticket, but the valuable information you bestowed on me sort of feels like you did.

You must know two things about me to understand my happy fervour. One, I am as clumsy as they come, dropping, breaking and falling all the time. Two, I am a little obsessed about the look and perfection of my phone screens. My issue began when I first received my iPhone, minutes after it was out of the box it was covered with my prints and grime. (As a note I do not "grime" regularly.) I assumed that what must fix this was screen protector, and knowing my clumsy history this seemed like a logical choice.

Protector one was riddled with problems the moment it was on my screen, lifting and filling with dust and debris. Protector two, I took my time with this one cleaning and placing it just so. After 20 minutes of fiddling and prodding the protector was on and alas it also had several small hairs littering the inside. beyond that it didn't save from any finger prints, grime ,or a million tiny little scratches.

I ventured to the Apple Store hoping to find a matte screen cover as seen on Kat F's iPhone, which I would then have installed by the queen of installs Sarah L. I approached Phil hoping to speed my trip thru the madness of the Apple store, and was delightfully surprised. Not only did he not try to sell me crap I didn't need, but he went even further to show me how durable my phone was without said screen cover by; hold breath here; running his house keys repeatedly over the screen. (He did preface this by saying "Don't do this at home!")

So on the spot I ripped off my litter filled screen guard and delightedly exclaimed, "Phil you are the best." To which he promptly replied, "So my wife tells me." Thus ended my life-changing trip to the Apple store, now every time I look at my phone I smile as it is clean and lovely.

Bottom line...this store seems to be filled with an easy going and knowledgeable staff who are intent on making every customer number one, so "Thanks again Phil!"

Once again, I'm looking for negative stars.

The 'genuis bar' is as useless as tits on a nun.

Once again, I have received a malfunctioning computer back from repair and they've done nothing more than 'upgrade the system.'

Too bad it was in for a logic board repair and a video card issue.

    Thanks for nothing guys.

Was in Toronto for a business trip.  Purchased a new 16gb 3gs prior to coming here.  Poor thing died while i was in a meeting.  i asked hotel conciege for the nearest apple store, they sent me to this location.  i told the not so "genious bar" guy the situation.  he told me to make an appointment.  i had to explain to him 3 times i was on a business trip!!!  i don't have time to make an appointment.  part that pissed me off most was, there were few customers in the store.  Didn't look busy at all

Finally, he fixed it and told me i needed to update the software...

My charger broke and I needed a new one. Upon entering the Apple store, it took literally five minutes to have someone help me find my product, get in line, and purchase it. I'd dare to even call my bluff if I were reading this review, but it's a true story and I was blown away by my experience.

The Apple store, as you can imagine, is packed to the brim with serious and casual shoppers alike, causing a giant frenzy at all hours of the day. It's an overwhelming experience and to top it off, it's hard to navigate the store.

After wondering around, I asked someone to locate the chargers, hopped in line, and was asked by another employee if I would like to pay while in line, meaning I had no need to wait any further. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, because I was actually going a little mad by all the activity in the store. Anyway, the employee asked if I was a student (I had totally forgotten about the 15% student discount, so thank you for that!) and I was given the option of having my receipt emailed to me, which I thought was a nice touch.

As a hardcore Apple user, I'd never consider not having a Mac, but entering the Apple store is another story. I hate the Eaton Centre to begin with but I am glad that my total shopping experience clocked in at five minutes.

I've spent a lot of money in here over the past... wow... six months. An awful lot of money, though not all of it mine. Let's break it down:

    1. Sister's MacBook
    2. My MacBook Pro
    3. Replacement screen on my iPhone

For the notebooks, I've never had an easier time spending a large pile of money. This is good - barely a question when we pointed at a machine and said "We want that one", on both occasions - and bad, in that I might become easily addicted. Both times the salespeople were very attentive, and stayed with us during the seemingly inevitable payment processing hurdles (I'm not normally one to spend lots in one place, and I expect my Visa normal usage profile reflects that). They stood by and kept us company, even laughing at some of my rather lame computer jokes. I never felt rushed at all by them, which is nice.

Getting the iPhone repaired was, apart from the $275 hit, a joy. I hand over my shattered phone, and not ten minutes later it's handed back to me with a new screen. I was seen about ten minutes later than my scheduled appointment, which isn't too bad. I wound up bringing it back a week later since the proximity sensor - the one that turns of the screen when you hold it to your face - wasn't working, which they fixed in another ten minutes, at no charge. They even took me early for that appointment, which was awesome.

Being centrally located and close to public transit, this is now my go-to Mac shop, even though the Sherway one is technically closer to me. Let it be known that I will be back, hopefully for non-repair issues, and not so often that I wind up living in a house made of Macs.

I have been using Apple products since the late 80s. I am super loyal to this company and this is definitely the location you want to hit up if you're looking for a new computer or any other Apple product. The authorised resellers downtown are also nice, but dealing with Apple directly is always preferred if you can swing it.

I've not bought any products from this store but when my MacBook Pro died on me I took it here to get it fixed. Pretty much everything from then on was seamless. The "Mac Genius" I dealt with was very knowledgeable (they have to be) and even the people getting me set up for my appointment were on point as well. I got impatient with the amount of time it took to fix because they had to order in a part, but each time I called the store to check on the status they were polite and never seemed to mind me calling every-other-day.

Finally picked up my laptop and the girl was sweet and funny. It seems like a happening place. They told me kids hang out there all the time because they have free internet on their display models and they don't seem to care kids loiter on Facebook. Tip: shop there early or late at night, otherwise it will likely be too packed.

And to top it off the girl employee who smiled and said goodbye to me as I left the shop was mad gorgeous.

Whenever I buy a new Apple product and have the shiny new toy in my hands I feel like the future has finally arrived.  Know what I mean?  Going into the Apple Store in the Eaton Centre is like that too.  It's mad hectic (and used to be super hot and stagnant) but there are a ton of shiny happy people waiting to engage you endlessely in your discussion and quest for the next best thing.

I'll go in with a head full of questions, spend half an hour with a sales rep and come away with everything making sense and wanting it all.

It usually takes a few visits to finally commit...8G or 16G? Laptop or desktop...maybe both? (If you're going for a laptop always get more ram installed.)

The utterly sad thing about this Apple Store though...apart from it's energetic sales reps it's got no personality.  Is it too much to ask that Apple gives Canada a flagship store like the one on 5th Ave in NYC or in Ginza, Tokyo?  I think it shows a huge lack of respect for Canadian Apple fans.  Sure we've got a few stores in Toronto now but they're boring boxes lining the halls of malls like Yorkdale, Sherway and the Eaton Centre.

Given how packed the place is I'm sure they could support a few more floors of Apple geeks.

When I need to visit the Apple Store this tends to be my default location.  I tend to stop in once a month or so for various odds and ends, and especially if I need to make an iPhone related stop to the Genius Bar.

Last time I was there I had a problem with my iPhone and they were really helpful with troubleshooting.  As long as you make an appointment ahead of time on the http://apple.com website you won't have any problems with being taken care of.

My only real annoyance is that it gets extremely busy in there almost every time I stop in which makes it tricky to pay for things.  You can line up at the cash or flag down one of the staff who have a wireless checkout device, but both options have be a bit of a pain at times.  That being said, with a little patience it usually works out pretty smoothly.

One of two of my favourite Apple stores on this continent (the other one being the one on Michigan Ave in Chi-Town).

I purchased a notebook from here, as well as other Apple swag and accessories for myself, as well as for gifts for others.

I have NEVER had any problems with anything that I have purchased from here, and I have always found the sales staff extremely approachable, knowledgeable and efficient.

I land in Toronto tomorrow and you can be sure that I'll be hittin' up this Apple store a GOOD dozen times before I return!

I love Apple products, so obviously the one star is not for the products but for the terrible customer service.  I was visiting Toronto from Los Angeles and had forgotten the camera attachment for my iPad.  So I went to this Apple Store to get one.  Now in LA Apple stores are known for their friendly and attentive customer service.

When I walked into the store I saw a number of the Apple customer service people milling about often talking to each other.  So I figured this should be quick, I picked up my item and went to a rep to purchase it (for those few of you unfamiliar with an Apple store, any rep can check you out if you have a credit card).  So I went up to two reps who were talking amongst themselves and said excuse me I want to buy this and was ignored!!  I would have been ok with a I'm sorry we are busy please go to another rep.  Nope just ignored, no eye contact, just ignored.  I went up to another rep who said she was going on break and then as I watched her just went over to chat with two other  reps who were chatting (different from the first pair of reps I approached).  Finally the next rep I approached was fine and helpful and checked me out.  Ugh, I could not believe this was an Apple store.

In any case. Never again.  I think Best Buy might sell Apple accessories if I need something the next time I visit.
