I've been here before for lunch a while ago but I re-visited Aoyama for their late tea menu.
Took some effort to be seated as there was no one to greet us at the door but eventually we were seated at a nice secluded seat. Firstly, always helpful are those service buzzers. I ordered the Yakiniku Rice Pizza with hot Ceylon Tea with milk. Adored how the tea came in one of those tea presses - a pleasant, rich black tea and enough was given for 2.5 cups. The Yakiniku rice pizza was so so good! The rice cake was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with a melted topping of mozzarella cheese. The beef was tender and topped with a sweet teriyaki sauce, japanese mayo, and dried seaweed.
My boyfriend had the French Toast with Bacon, and it was exactly that... fluffy, sweet french toast with 2 crispy bacons strips on the side. One of the best french toast we've had. The complimentary ice tea was good too, enjoyed how the syrup came on the side too.
Overall, service was average and nice when present. Aoyama is a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of the food makes up for it. Will be returning to try their pastas, unagi salad and sweet desserts I saw on the menu. -

Aoyama Cafe is renowned for their UCC coffee blends - a brand that has been developed over the past 70 years.
This is casual Japanese style cafe located inside Aberdeen Mall. It serves Western Japanese comfort food dishes as well as desserts & coffee.
The pasta and coffee was just ok. I had better pasta and coffee when I traveled in Tokyo, Japan. -

$4 bucks for ice coffee and it wasn't worth it. Your better off getting a ice coffee at starbucks for half the price. My friend had the sumiyaki jelly coffee parfait for $9 bucks and that was ok, but she had expected more because of the price.

I first heard about this place from my brother in law. He told me they had Longanisa, egg and rice on their breakfast menu, and if you are filipino or if you have a filipino significant other etc. you will know Longanisa, egg and rice are the bomb for breakfast!! So i decided to check it out. i was way too late for breakfast but i caught the lunch rush. The menu was like nothing ive ever seen before. a lot of baked Japanese inspired dishes, so i ordered the baked buger patty with rice and melted cheese. It was delicious! it had so much flavor (i think it was the msg) but who cares!
The staff was amazing to us, always checked to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. (i wish i knew her name) she was very polite, i loved that!
I also recommend you order dessert after your meal... which ones you say? TRY THEM ALL!! well you'll know what i mean when you go there! -

I was fairly surprised by the food here. I ordered their salmon and spinach fettuccine and it was sure yummy. They have a variety of pasta and rice dishes.
I was here in a large group for a birthday dinner and service was good. Everyone's orders looked delicious and it all smelled so good.
I was too stuffed for dessert, but some of the others ordered it and it looked it. It was mainly variations of the same thing (fried crepe with assorted filling and ice cream). -

A place I go to when I can't decide where to eat, oddly enough. But I DO love their food. It's pretty convenient to hit Aoyama since Aberdeen is right there thanks to Canada Line.
I prefer their dishes that have rice over the ones with pasta, simply because I think the pasta could be had at another place and taste better.... but the rice... mmm. The omu-rice (omellete wrapped around rice) was so filling and tasted great! Perfect for my tastes (not much of the 'heavy', oily sauces). Very reasonable portion too. I also recommend trying their desserts; you can order from the counter or right off the menu, but I'd go for the counter so you can see them up close and personal.
Will be back next time to actually try the coffee. -

I went there with Kumilo L today, which was our first time. The environment is neat & clean, in a contemporary style. The two female servers who served us were a little lazy and seemed inexperienced, the male server who served us was smarter.
We ordered Tuna Pizza Toast and Macha Karumaki. The Karumaki was OK but not too impressive. But we're disappointed with the Toast, which said to be soft inside and crispy outside, but the one we had was soggy inside and chewy outside, not quite like it's been toasted at all. We had Cafe Au Lait and Sumiyaki as well, coffee was OK.
The thing we feel pissed is the price on their website is about $2 to $3 less than on the actual menu, plus there is no Snack Set as described on the website at all. That's why 1 star is deducted. We might not go again. -

Been back for more lunches, and now, it deserves one more star. It seems as though that now there's actually a manager on duty, and the staff are much more attentive and courteous. There is still the 'buzzing button', in which you need to press to get their service, and usually they're pretty good at attending to you.
Tried some new dishes, including the teriyaki chicken casserole and spaghetti with cod roe and squid. I'm a fan of their casseroles because of the curry rice base. It's still overloaded with cheese, which makes this a heavy dish. The cod roe and squid spaghetti is surprisingly light, and the roe isn't too salty so the dish is something different.
As always, their water has cucumber slices in it (nice touch), and their coffees are always great.
Now if only parking wasn't so painful at Aberdeen Center....Listed in: Lunching in Richmond, Exploring Aberdeen.

Review from Larry L.
Came back here with family and the kids. I really enjoy having lunches with family. Especially the kids. Anywhere I go with them is always a treat for good ole Dad.
Mum and Grandma were in for a surprise how big the pizza toast was. Dad had a big sandwich that he couldn't finish but said it was good. Son had Hamburger steak which he said he didn't want to rate and had no opinion but that it was good. He'd rather keep his thoughts to himself and likes his privacy. He did say he enjoyed it. Nuff said there.
Daughter unit liked her Unagi salad at first, but then the Unagi just became too much for her. It was a bit pricey she thought, but the nice things was that the salad greens were in great shape.
You know, it's always nice to have fresh salad with none of those brown wilted bits in them. It's nice to know that their lettuce and greens are fresh.
Everyone enjoyed the coffee and yes, they do have great coffee and wonderful parfaits --- Japanese style.Listed in: Asian Noodle Spots in Richmond

Went with my brother and his gf to try out this new funky little Japanese pasta house.
We all ordered about $70 or so worth of food.
Appie:
* Bacon sausage pizza toast - not bad. Should be more toasty though! The inside was a bit mushy still.
Entree:
*Japanese cuttle fish roe spaghetti - Excellent. Light and interesting. You can taste the roe flavor. The sauce is simple and the noodles are just right.
*Unagi and mushroom cream Spaghetti - Quite good. Lots of mushroom and lovely unagi. I would prefer if the unagi was more bbq'd, but it was very good nevertheless.
*Fried chicken spaghetti in red sauce - This was disappointing. The red sauce wasn't as thick as hoped or as flavorful and there wasn't a whole lot of friend chicken. It was more like "a couple of chicken tenders" on some run of the mill bottled tomato sauce.
Dessert:
*Cinnamon and Sugar French toast cubes - Delicious!! Crunchy like the cinnatoast cereals! My brother's only beef was that the maple syrup came in a little plastic tubs. :P Please, just pour some good old fashioned syrup into a little bowl or cup (Daiso is just around the corner). The plastic tubs were just a bit too much like McDonald pancake syrup.
*The chocolate and banana H (can't remember the name now!) - featured cheesecake deep into a spring roll and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Not bad at all and quite novel.
*Green tea crepe with red been and custard - My favorite. Two generous scoops of green tea wrapped in a crepe. I wish they put more macha sprinkles on...but oh well. Delicious custard.
Over all, the food was fast, friendly, and the manager was walking around refilling waters the whole time. Great service. Nice informal atmosphere. Not a bad place at all for a quick bite with friends. -

Last couple of times when we went here, the service was questionable, but the food saved them. But this time, even the food and coffees were rather disappointing.
Service was consistently slow and unattentive. We were always kept waiting long for a table each time. Not that a table was not available. Just that the waitresses really take their time cleaning the table. Last time when we went, we saw our table left uncleaned for well over 5 minutes. If they're full, I understand, but they weren't, and one of the waitresses was talking on the cel phone!!
Food was not up to par this time. We ordered the matcha crepe. First, it took forever to arrive. I kept telling myself good food takes time. The crepes with ice cream inside were fine (although I didn't taste any matcha in the ice cream, not even artificial flavour). But the red bean and gelatin were very small portion, and the presentation was not pleasing. I didn't think much until I recall how much this was -- $8.95. At that price, I could have had a pretty decent dessert at 5-star hotels or some of the best dessert spots in town. The waitress did bring more red bean and gelatin, even though it took her over 5 minutes to do that.
Then there were the two lattes we ordered. They were not hot...actually not even warm. We beckoned the manager this time but didn't have better luck. He said the automatic machine makes the lattes and he, quote, "cannot control it", unquote. Now that's lame. If you can't control the machine, why are you using it??!! He offered to make another one, or just cancel the order. Having waited well over 20 minutes for the first one, would I entertain the thought of waiting any longer? Nah.
We rushed through the rest of our dessert, paid cash, and just got out of there. When you can't right a wrong, at least be apologetic, and try to do something. They were offered a chance, but they blew it. -

Japanese style cafe with extensive menu.( I noticed that Japanese style cafe is much less popular here than in Los Angeles.)
We tried the seafood curry spaghetti, unagi baked rice and chicken omurice, plus matcha parfait. Everything was delicious and their portion generous.
The seafood spaghetti has a good amount of mussel, scallops and prawns. The curry flavor is pretty mild but a good compliment to the dish.
The unagi bakes rice was extra cheesy, it's like a heart attack in big bowl. I feel the cheesiness slightly overwhelmed the delicate taste of the unagi. But good taste combination and a splurge- worthy dish overall.
The matcha parfait tastes as good as it looks (refer to the picture) Yummm...The jelly was slightly too sweet, but I'm just being picky. We were too stuffed to try other desserts. Can't wait to come back just for desserts.
Service was fast but friendly.
I hope they can keep the taste and service consistent. -

Having a tea break, and we went to Aoyama for high tea. Which we chose two topical drink, salad and two crepes. The portion is little large then we expected, so can't finished with three people. Next time will order less portion and definity like to try their lunch.
