Review from Colene C.
If there was a 6-star rating, my beloved Anthropologie would receive it. The clothes! Oh the clothes, where do I begin? They've always got something unique about every article -- a ruffle, beautiful draping, cute buttons, they've got the little details nailed. They've also got something that suits every body type and I've always had great luck finding beautiful dresses that fit my body (no more cursing my hips!). Go upstairs to the sale area to find even more goodies at discounted prices. I always find something when I root through the rack.
Not only do they do great clothes, but they're just a store you want to *really* like. They have a great DIY attitude that is reflected in their creative window displays, occasional craft workshops for the public, and side project website that supports artists (http://theanthropologi...).
Bonus: If you sign up for their Anthro card and provide your mailing address, you'll get a surprise treat on your birthday! -

I don't know why it took me so long to check out Anthropologie. Oh. Probably because I'm never on South Granville. Anyhow, I had time to kill last week and I was in the area, so I ended up here!
I expected just clothing, but I was surprised to see a huge variety of home decor and kitchen knick knacks! I fell in love with some Octopus dinner plates and tea cup sets. Hell, there were even little bird shaped handles for cabinets! SO CUTE. And door handles. It was pretty wonderful.
I loved the spacious layout of the store. So much better than cramped aisles and slow walkers.
The clothing itself was pretty great. Very current and stylish with a decent selection of basics. I loved all the casual dresses! There is a room for the stuff on sale upstairs. I noticed it was mostly pants on this particular day.
Pretty great! Although a little out of my price range these days as I'm suffering from student-itis. But next time I have some spare cash, I can assure you I'll be back ASAP.Listed in: The Business of Fashion

Dear Anthropologie...
Can I live in one of your catalogues?
Pretty please?
I promise I'll be good.
I'll wear my hair all pretty, and pile on adorable cardigans, flirty ruffles, bright colours, luxurious tights, and delicate accessories with jewel tones or animals or trees or whatever is in this year. I'll live in a rustic wood cabin, grow plants in a terrarium, read fabric-covered books, write notes on stationery in cursive by scented candle-light, drink out of frilly cups, eat on scalloped plates, measure ingredients with your dainty spoons, and have this expression of mystic wonderment and calm at all times.
No?
Oh, it must be because I'm Canadian.
Because I refuse to accept any other answer.
...I still love you anyway.
Remember your hefty cousin in Seattle? Yeah. Remember how when I saw her, and jumped in excitement, and said we'd be together forever and even told my friend to go back home without me because I'd try to hide in the bedding section and figure out a way to live in America? That was nothing. A fleeting moment of passion. Her summer wardrobe was a little nicer than yours, though. And your sales section is always full of totally whack stuff that I don't find attractive. Actually, I haven't fallen in love with a piece of clothing of yours for a good 4 consecutive seasons, which is a good thing, because you're one pricey dame. Just sayin'. Don't get all mad now.
I guess I should say something nice about you, so you don't get all jealous and whatnot. Your sales associates are nice. Really nice. And helpful. Impressively so, because I've worked in retail and have seen a lot of idiot sales associates. That grapefruit sugar bowl with the bird on it that one of your girls helped me track down in the Edmonton store? My sister loved it. And that 'L' monogram mug? It's my boyfriend's favourite. And the fleur de lis teapot and drink pitcher? I smile at them every day. My mom loves visiting you, too.
You bring me joy.
And you bring my special people joy.
You have some major good stuff going on.
I dig it.Listed in: Surefires

Review from Vincci L.
I am absolutely in love with this store. Every time I walk in, the cozy decor makes me feel right at home. Hardwood floors, wood paneling, and just a great visual display overall.
Pretty pieces of clothing fill the store with just the right amount of temptation. Sure, the prices are a bit high, but it doesn't hurt to browse through and indulge in all the beautiful clothes. I love their dresses-adorned in unique patterns, lace, and florals. They also have the cutest tops too. There's a small home wares/bedding section on the second floor, and I am always eyeing out the elaborate lampshades. Monogrammed mugs, jewlery hangers, door knobs...there are lots of cool additions to your home.
Did I mention their jewellery? Cool, funky pieces to liven up your plain outfit. I hit up their sale rack, as often I find a great deal.
I often love just browsing in the store, taking in all the goodness.Listed in: 30 Day Yelp Challenge.

Beautiful clothes and store.
Totally overpriced. And I have no problem spending money on clothes at high end boutiques, but wait--is this really a high end boutique?
But at least there are the shoes. I have beautiful shoes from here. Oh, not from this store, of course. They don't carry shoes here.
What about the sale area? Oh, you mean the closet in the back selling items that look like they were brought up from the 2008 basement?
Oh, right. Welcome to Canada. :)
To think, I live so close...yet so far, from the REAL Anthropologie. But the mark up here is an extra bonus! No wonder the store is so...empty...now!
I haven't even dared to ask for a catalogue. I get mine sent for free from the US. I am sure that here it will be a $5 charge for shipping and handling even if I walk in the store. But that's just being cynical, and no one needs to read that in a review, right?
I'll spend the $500 to travel south for my savings. (It'll be worth it in the end, trust me. Remember, this store doesn't sell shoes!) -

Still hoping for more furniture to come to the vancouver location. I heard they sold the majority of their first shipments furniture.
Clothing is nice, but I'm a 6'2" guy, and not into drag.
-I did buy some cool teacups and saucers, however. (dont know where i was going with that)
Sales people were very helpful and pleasant. keep up the good work! -

It wasn't until recently that I started buying clothes from Anthropologie. I've been to a few different Anthropologie stores (mostly in California), and I was excited to learn that Vancouver has a store to call its own. The store itself is nice and definitely comparable to all of the other locations I've been to.
This location has two levels. The first level has the majority of the new arrivals, jewelry, and a nice little sitting area for the boys. Near the back of the store is a staircase to get to the upper level. Be careful on the stairs, if your shoes don't have much grip you'll find them slippery. On the second level you'll find a bedroom setup, bath and body products, the sale section, and the change rooms.
I was very happy to find a few dresses I was looking for in the sale area the same day the sales were announced on the Anthropologie website. However, the sale area is small and stuffy. The change rooms are also quite small. Other Anthropologie stores I've been to have spacious change rooms. I barely had enough room to stack all of my clothes on one small stool.
I will agree that a significant amount of clothes at Anthropologie are expensive. It really pays to wait for items to go on sale.Listed in: My Favorite Places To Go In…

Review from Robin M.
Anthropologie, quite literally, is the physical and metaphorical embodiment of my entire life, only on a much different scale. I'm not alone in this -- it's what Anthropologie does best. They sell a sense of adventure, originality, and a promise of a life filled with wonder. All of this in one store.
I've been to a number of locations throughout the US, and each is always a bit different, but true to their individual aesthetic, they share a vibrancy that is unlike any other clothing and home-furnishing chain I've encountered. So when I heard they were opening in Vancouver, I was beyond excited. I am, after all, smack in the middle of their target market.
I'm happy to report the Vancouver location did not disappoint. The door knobs, the jewels, the cups, the bedding, the antiques, the colours, the patterns, the diversity, the pants that magically fit *just* right -- that is Anthropologie. True to its brand, the Vancouver location has succeeded in not just being the dopest store on Granville, but also in creating a sense of a lived-in space -- a story and environment that accompanies each little nook of the store.
If I sound like a convert, it's because I am. I lubs you, Anthropologie. Even if you do want my cash.Listed in: Maybe it's a Girl thing?, Dressup!, The Gift that Keeps on

Review from Sarah D.
Let me start this review by saying that Anthropologie is my very favourite clothing store. I have visited the Seattle and Edmonton locations, and just like many other ladies I almost peed my pants with excitement when I heard they were finally opening a store in Vancouver. (OK -maybe I'm the only one who almost peed her pants, but still!) It is to everyone's shock and amazement (mine included) that I managed to hold out until now to visit the Vancouver location. The desire to wait until the crowds thinned out and the employees worked out all the kinks was strong, and I'm glad I did.
Now for the important part: the clothes. Oh! The beautiful, beautiful clothes. Whimsical dresses, skirts, blouses and sweaters -this location has them all. While it's true that their clothing ain't cheap, I'll let you in on a little secret: their sale section upstairs, although physically small, is fantastic. And guess what? Almost EVERYTHING ends up there eventually. With a fairly quick turnaround of stock, chances are you won't have to wait very long. Gorgeous shirts, dresses and skirts for as little as $29.99 -who can resist that? (I promise I'm not a cheapo...)
It's a good thing that it's a bit of a trek from my 'hood, otherwise many of my paycheques would see an early grave. Carrying beautiful clothing that gets me compliments all the time, I hope Anthropologie is here to stay.Listed in: From Blah to Beautiful, Gift Shopping Made Easy

One urban store takes over another. Today Urban Outfitters fans will be pleased to be able to shop at sister store Anthropologie in Vancouver, replacing the former Urban Planet. (Thank goodness!)
Everything we love about the store was there - the worldly touch, home decor accessories like door knobs and over-the-door hooks, and of course world-traveler type fashions that speak to the global citizen in all of us. The ground level features a mini jewelry bar, a furniture seating area, and cute cup displays in a tree-like fashion (cups retailing at only $8 - $10). While heading upstairs you'll find a bed display, bath and body bar, and their change rooms. -

The atmosphere is incredible.
Every item looks top-quality but really...it's not. Anthropolgie is by the same company as Urban Outfitters, where 99 percent of their clothing is made in China.
In addition, never buy anything there regular-priced. It will probably go on sale next month. Once, I went there and a cardigan was on sale for 30% off. Next week it was 50% off. You just have to be patient, and soon the pricey items will be somewhat reasonable. -

I seek out Anthropologie stores when I travel. Initially, I had to go to the US, although a few years ago some opened in Toronto, then Calgary and Edmonton. I was really happy to find one at West Edmonton Mall 2 years ago.
Today I was at the opening of the Vancouver store. Actually, they opened at 9:53 am, which was pretty nice. Glad I got there early, time to browse quickly and seek out some great warm weather tops and bottoms, as well as a whole room of sale items!
A lot of people complain about how expensive Anthropologie is, but, really, it's not that bad. The quality is good.
The store became crowded quickly so I made do with my choices and got out. I will definitely be back.
The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. -

Wasn't a huge fan of the clothes in the past - too bohemian or quiet librarian or something. But this season there are so many pretty dresses and tops to choose from that are flattering, I think, on many different shapes/personalities. Styles range from casual to formal...

The merchandising in this store is much more conservative than it's US counterparts, but still captivating nonetheless. So happy to have an Anthropologie here!
