I was just strolling around the Golden Gate Park, looking for the Conservatory of Flowers until I came across a small line of food trucks & food stands. Having a full stomach from an earlier lunch, I still wanted something to snack on.

    Samosas??! YES PLEASE!

The samosas was packed full of potatoes; and they were extremely tender and fluffy! And the outside skin was thin, lightly crispy and flaky! It was soo good! I can't even describe it to you.

    CASH ONLY.
    $4, two samosas.

OH MY GOD.  TERRIBLE.  OVER PRICED.  STAY AWAY.

I think even the real Indian people that were eating here were disgusted with the food.  There is alot of really good indian in the city.  This is not it.  Head up 9th to Curry Village for much better, much more economical options.

CASH ONLY.  We were hungry after going to the DeYoung Museum for the Picasso exhibit.  Annakoot was a new truck to me so decided to try it.  From the menu it said it's from the restaurant Breads of India & Gourmet Curries.  I've tried Breads of India in Berkeley before, oh well.

    We got:

Chana Masala - garbanzo beans w/ naan, tiny salad, & basmati rice.  I liked it ok.  $7.

Chicken curry $8 - chicken w/ curry sauce, tiny salad, naan, & basmati rice.  I thought the chicken a bit dry, sauce was fine.

Mango lassi $3 - tasted fine.

    My total $18.  CASH ONLY.

My husband and I were riding past Annakoot two weeks ago and decided to have a quick snack of coffees and samosas. Unfortunately for us, it didn't turn out to be so quick at Annakoot.

I placed an order for two samosas and we waited for 15 minutes. Throughout this time, the chef was preparing other food and the other two people in the food truck were laughing and talking and served no one else. I went up to ask how long the samosas were going to take and the girl said to me that they were going to be five minutes away.

So, my husband and I continued to sit there patiently while the three of them continued to joke and laugh etc etc, serving no other customers. Another 10 minutes went pass and I was getting a bit annoyed as we were meant to meet some friends shortly. I went up again to the counter and asked how long when we were going to get the samosas. I said to the girl that if they didn't turn up right now, I wanted my money back immediately. She promptly told me that it was MY fault for not reminding them and I should have gone to the pick-up window to get my food. Remember that this is a food truck. The order and pick up windows were basically next to each other and there were only three of them in the truck, all talking to each other! She refused to listen to my argument, turned her back to me, kept on saying that it was MY fault. The guy next to her quickly dished up the two samosas and handed them to her. She then turned back to me, handed them to me and walked away. I said to her that I didn't want the samosas and wanted my money back but she was gone from the window!

To wrap up this comedy show, the samosas turned out to be barely warm and as the previous entry said, they definitely needed the sauces that came with them to add flavor. What an experience!

This was my first time ever that i've eaten indian food. I had the lassi mango drink with the somosas and it was delicious. Staff is friendly and everytime i come here i tell people how i was one of the many skeptics about trying new exotic food. But i had a piece of the samosa and i feel in love with them

Went for a walk to enjoy the December sun (so weird), and saw this Indian truck.  I got all excited and rightfully so.  The samosas were really yummy, big, with perfect dough--soft yet crisp on the outside.  They also had the best gulab jaman I've ever had in my life.  I never knew it could be so flavorful.  And it's served slightly warm, which is the traditional way.  I can't wait for an excuse to get back to the park to get some curry!  Service was extremely friendly.  I'm used to the rude, miserable people at the El Tonayense truck, so compared to those people the Annakoot folks were a breath of fresh air.

My husband and I found ourselves starving in Golden Gate Park.  We've both had disappointing experiences with the food in the cafes in the Academy of Science and other similar cafes, so rather than check out the cafe in DeYoung we were going to hop on Muni and head out.  Spotted Annakoot truck- and me being a fan of Indian food and street food, I convinced him to get a snack.

It was SO GOOD.  I got samosas, he got a paratha fold, and we were in street food HEAVEN!  My husband is always a little iffy about Indian food but he devoured that paratha fold, and I managed to sneak a bite and I can see why.

Don't question it, just try it and grab a couple extra napkins, your going to need it.

This is a destination- my next trip to San Fran, I will be going to the Japanese Tea Garden largely for it's proximity to Annakoot!

I want to like you: I love Indian food from my time there, and I love food trucks. At best, the food is ok. The service is frequently awful. I've had the clerk who thinks she you should appreciate her for her writing Shakespeare essays instead of dissing your food order, and I've had the happy clerks taking your order than the screwing up the contents. And the food honestly isn't that great - the curries taste like they are out of a bag, the meat in them is overcooked, and the paratha folds aren't really truck food since you can't eat them when mobile.

I think our relationship is over. Chowder from the truck next over instead.

The good: lunch on a sunny day in the music concourse of GG Park.  Well-made Indian food.  Good naan, good tandoori salmon, good pakoras.

The bad: $32 for lunch for two people, from a food truck?  Hopefully the Park is getting a cut ...

Fresh and flavorful - very good quality Indian food.  I ordered the chicken curry for $8, (comes w/ naan and basmati rice) that has a spiciness level that anyone could appreciate.

In comparison to the cafe in the Academy of Sciences, which is very expensive for it's itty bitty portions, the Annakoot food truck has better deals.

    Until next time, Annakoot!

Tried the samosas and pakoras and they were great.
My husband is Indian and certified the food is authentic :)

Located in the heart of Golden Gate park, across De Young Museum.

Great for eating this food in the grass on a blanket with friends.

I dropped by here with a friend hoping to find the Sam's Chowdermobile, but I guess they were in Stanford today.  We were hungry, it was 1pm and we hadn't eaten yet.  Disappointed, we turned our attention to the other food trucks parked in the area.  Annakoot was the only one that had food.  We went back and forth on whether we wanted to eat here.  A quick search on Yelp showed 3 stars (not promising, but I've liked other 3-star places) for Annakoot.  So we order the Samosas and the Paratha.  I have always said I've never had a samosa I didn't like.  WELL, I have to take that back now.  The Samosa, although freshly fried, was flavorless and badly needed the green and red sauce that came with it.  The texture of the inside was also very gummy.  The Paratha was not very good either.  We forced ourselves to eat half of it and threw the rest away.

The 2 guys and girl running the food truck weren't very friendly either.  The girl took our order.  No smile, no words, just a blank stare.  I gave her a $20 for the $11 dollar meal, she asked me if I had a dollar.  I said I did not and she looked pissy about it.  The guys making the food were alright, but looked bothered when people came up to the window to ask for forks, extra napkins, etc.  I hate to say I hope they run out of business, but for such a prime location, I hope something better moves in.
