Alright, although no one can argue that this place replaces Phnom Penh, Angkor is still a great option if you live in East Van. Why? Great food, good prices and NO LINEUP. Now that's what I'm talking about!
I know you're wondering about the wings and I really enjoyed them--crispy, delicately seasoned and served with a similar lemon pepper liquid as dip. Oh yeahhh baby. The butter beef? Well, it comes prettily dressed with many vegetables but just wasn't a home run for me; the beef wasn't sliced as thinly or delicately as PP's and the seasoning didn't appeal to me as much.... but one dish you must try: the lemongrass beef.
I don't know if you were a Fruit Loops fan as a kid but if you were, then get your butt over to Angkor and order this dish. It will bring you back to the years of eating cereal on the couch while watching The Raccoons. This dish evokes good times. Do yourself a favour and try it... you'll fall creepily in love.
We ordered some other dishes that were good too but the whole Fruit Loops experience voided them all out. Sorry 'bout that.
To recap, try the lemongrass beef and report back to me! : )Listed in: Life Altering Items, East Side wonders!

Went here with a friend. He ordered a noodle dish, I tried their hainese chicken rice. Both came with a soup. We also ordered deep fried wings.
This is a mom and auntie run kinda shop, nothing was great, the wings had way too much garlic on it. Go back to Phnom Penh if you like wings.
The rest of the food....I'll just pass on this place next time. -

This place is Cambodian but they also have a lot of Vietnamese dishes on their menu as well as a slew of Viet drinks like ice coffee. But don't be puzzled, it is authentic Cambodian dishes, its just that the owner moved to Vietnam and stayed there for a time. So there's also authentic Vietnamese dishes!
I came here with a client, who is Cambodian, and she recommend this place. I tried the dry egg noodle with pork liver and holy shitaki mushroom was it flavorful. I really loved the noodles, I generally don't like to eat a lot of noodles and prefer the meats and veggies. But these dry egg noodles were DAMN! It also comes with a side bowl of broth to sup on. I even loved their Vietnamese ice coffee.
I plan to return to try more Cambodian dishes that other Yelpers have mentioned.
PRICE: Affordable, great for quick lunch or easy dinner.
SERVICE: Excellent. Everyone is really friendly there and always smiling. Plenty of parking unless its just nuts for some reason.
SUGGEST: I'm biased to the dry egg noodle...course its the only dish I've had... So definitely try several dishes here, I expect a lot of them to be pretty good. I'd bring friends then you're not cornered to one dish.
Gooood Vietnamese iced coffee...did I say that already.... -

There is so much to love about this Cambodian hole-in-the-wall. While the decor isn't what you'd find at a fancier and pricier joint, they make efforts to make things cozy while feeding you an incredibly flavourful meal. If you are having a bad day, pull up a chair here and your troubles will probably seem less critical by the end of your meal.
*The crisp, sweet, salty and garlicky chicken wings are ridiculously good(even better than the much lauded wings from Phnom Penh).
*The papaya salad and seafood salad are seasoned with fresh jolts of basil, chiles and fish sauce. They taste like something that you'd buy from the best street cart in a small village.
*The staff are totally sweet and accomodating. I get the sense that this is a family-run operation.
*The prices are really reasonable. Two can dine for $20 with leftovers (though it tastes so good, you'll probably want to eat more than you planned)
I love Angkor! -

* Rebirth *
Those of you that were around Vancouver back in 2007 may recall a targeted shooting at a Vietnamese restaurant called Cafe Biennho. (Old news story here: http://www.canada.com/...)
Well the location has re-opened as of last week as Angkor Restaurant and is now serving Cambodian cuisine.
They have a heavy focus on noodle soups, but do have a selection of other offerings.
I was just looking for a snack so I tried out their fried chicken wings.
What I got was a pleasant surprise - the best chicken wings I've had in Vancouver. And yes, for those of you that are fans of Phnom Penh in Chinatown (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...), I have had those and these were better.
The wings were coated in a very light batter (I am assuming corn starch). They were incredibly moist inside and extremely crispy on the outside. They were plated on top of a few pieces of lettuce, covered in fried jalapenos, fried garlic chips, and fresh cilantro. A plate of freshly squeezed lime juice mixed with pepper (and perhaps a touch of sugar) provided the perfect dipping sauce.
Delicious.
I have no idea how the rest of the food is, but if the chicken is any indication this place is a keeper!
Service was really friendly, and even gave a 20% discount when paying as part of their grand opening special.
So the total bill for a plate of about 10 delicious morsels was about $6!
I look forward to returning! -

Delicious stuff! Curry so spicy it will make your eyes water, but in a very good way. Big servings too. I ate one of their curries for three different meals. They do takeout also and service is well quick.

I've been here for lunch on a couple occasions. On both occasions I ordered the beef stew noodles. Very yummy!! The egg noodles are great. I will definitely be returning and probably trying new things - the chicken wings are on my list.

We were excited to see another Cambodian restaurant and in our own neighborhood! We love Phnom Penh but I have been recently disappointed with some of my fave dishes from there.
Angkor is a small family owned restaurant, clean and bright with a number of tables. There were 3 of us and so we ordered 4 dishes to share. A dry egg noodle dish without the pork liver or heart (not a fan) and it was very tasty. A curry chicken on rice which is amazing and I have never had Cambodian curry, it had coconut milk and wasn't too spicy. A grilled pork on rice (my daughter's fave dish and it was grilled nicely and came with a bunch of "fixings" like shredded pork, baked eggs and veggies. We had to try and compare the deep fried chicken wings and those were not as good as PP but good enough! All came under $40 including tip and there were leftovers! I would def recommend it but be warned the menu is not as large as PP and my brother was disappointed they did not have his butter beef dish! -

Great chicken wings. Curry chicken on rice is great homemade cooking. Great value.
No disposable chopsticks used. -

1st time here. I really like PH in Chinatown but hate to wait for a table so decided to try this new place out. Lots of parking in the strip mall place.
First off I kinda like their iced version of Jasmine tea (free) on this hot summer evening.
Like everyone else I like their fried chicken wings with a side dip of lime juice and pepper the wings are huge.
Dad ordered the chicken curry, it's quite good if not on the sweet side. The dried noodles I ordered is also on the sweet side. Overall I still like PH better but this place is not bad if you are in the neighborhood -

This is my 2nd time to Angkor.
I wanted to give it another chance because last time I didn't really enjoy the curry chicken on rice.
Me and Ballau went for an early light dinner, the place was not full yet. I was cautious this time so we decided with an order of large Cambodian styled fried chicken wings to share, Ballau had the mixed dry seafood noodle.
The order came pretty quick, the chicken wings came with a pepper lime juice dip which make this dish very unique. It was very nice, well seasoned and juicy on the inside.
The place is very clean but kind of plain in design.
I still don't like the employees from the kitchen sitting around while we were eating, it just kills the mood.
So if you like Cambodian styled fried chicken wings, this is a good place to go.1 Previous Review: Show all »

A quck return to Angkor; too hot and tired to cook. Tonight, chicken curry and the wings. The chicken curry was quite delicious. It's served with a garnish of mint and cooked with the chicken bones, allowing the marrow to infiltrate the broth with lovely flavour. As usual with Southeast Asia food, the curry sauce is quite light, allowing the nutty flavour of the excellent rice to show itself. A welcome change from the usual glutinous Glico curry usually available in Vancouver. The wings - as - mentioned in other reviews - is resplendent. I couldn't tell you what the spicing was, but I can say that it schmecks. Definitely a contender for best wings in town
