Review from Megan S.
My friend and I were quite ambitious and decided to rent a bike and ride the 18 mile trek down Fisherman's Wharf, through the Presidio, over the Golden Gate and into Sausalito. Boy were we tired! But we just kept thinking, "Sexy legs!!"
It was as we neared the end of the bridge that I began to daydream about creamy pasta. We were almost delirious with fatigue and after checking out a couple of shops settled on Angelino's because it was close by and looked not too expensive.
The view is amazing, but that's probably because I got the one facing the window. Although the restaurant had beautiful white linens and gentlemanly waitstaff, they were unpretentious and helped recommend a wine for my friend and nodded in agreement at our choices.
We ordered the Antipasto Napoletano for starters which was fresh and authentic. The bread and simple olive oil that is requisite for the table, was perfect. I joked that I wanted to roll around in that olive oil and maybe I'd take some of those meats with me too!
I ordered the Fusilli Al Forno which was steamy hot out of the oven. While I waited for it to cool I noted that the owner was busy around the restaurant talking with his patrons and having a jolly time. I think that's a good sign of a good restaurant when the man who owns the place is really at home in it and is the source of life for it.
Although my baked pasta dish was made with crumbled sausage, the real star of the show were the adorable mushrooms. Gawd, remembering that meal now makes me long for it again.
My friend had the Linguine Con Vongole which looked amazing, but I was too busy with my little noodles in creamy tomato sauce to yank a bite.
Delicioso! -

Oh so sad..... I had been raving about Angelino's to my boyfriend for years and he took me there last week. I don't know what happened but it was just awful!!!
I'll start at the beginning... when JP called to make the reservations he asked for a quiet table away from the bar. His exact words. They sat us near the bar and next to the front door behind the loudest party in the entire restaurant. JP didn't know there was a back room until he went to the restroom. The back room was empty save 2 small tables of people and completely quiet. The party behind us for our entire dinner were horribly loud with the women shrieking at the top of their lungs and of course, the more they drank - the louder and shriller they got.
The waiter was rude right off the bat as I told him we don't drink wine when he came over to offer the wine menu. I was a waitperson for many years and yes it was always disappointing when a table wasn't going to order alcohol but it wasn't a reason for me to be rude to them!!!
The waiter pandered to the loud party behind us, of course, because they were ordering all of the booze in the bar and apparently all he cared about was his tip :(
When they brought the bread JP was right in noticing it was not cut and the breadsticks are served in the plastic wrap they are bought in. He wondered aloud how it could be considered a "classy joint" when it wasn't classy at all.
As we ordered JP chose the Fritto Miso and asked the waiter "is that a good choice" to which the waiter rolled his eyes (he may have snorted as well, I couldn't be sure) and said "well if you like Fritto Miso, it IS deep fried!" OMG - how rude could he be?? Rude.
The caesar salad, which I remembered as being amazing was overly drenched in dressing (the dressing was still good) and there were actually brown pieces of romaine that I had to pick out!!! Highly distressing.
The scallops special was OK, not fantastic and one was much too charred. We've had scallops 3 times in the last couple of months and the Underwood Bar and Bistro in Graton was by far the best with Le Garage coming in second. The spinach and potatoes that came with the scallops were great but that's because they were liberally drenched in butter.
We skipped dessert and wanted to leave as quickly as possible due to the poor service and the screeching banshees behind us. We won't be back....Listed in: Top Restaurants, My Neighborhood

It was our last night in Sausalito and we were craving Italian so we were torn between Angelino's and Poggio's. I wish we had gone to Poggio's. I had the special, a seafood pasta dish that was skimpy on the seafood but generous with whatever bland sauce came with it, and my hubby had the ravioli. He was happy with it (but he's easy to please, haha!)
The view is nice, the wine menu is really nice, the service was... weird. We had a different person seemingly at every step of our meal. I don't know if they were training that night or what but we must've had 8 different servers during the course of our meal. Overall, I wasn't impressed. -

The fantastic view at the first 2 tables, lead me to eat here with a friend, that lives in the area. When served a very small, tasteless, salad, with hard bread, soup that was cold, a bite of my friend's pasta dish, which was also cold after waiting so long for it, they confused my check. I paid the one provided to me, until I checked later. I called the restaurant, and they discovered the mistake, took my information, and promised to mail a refund to me. NO REFUND!!!
The staff is slow, lazy, and forgetful. The food was served COLD!, VERY EXPENSIVE, OVER PRICED, POORLY PREPARED, AND VERY POOR SERVICE!!! -

To make a long story short, the definition of customer service is not, "The owner is always right." Of all the restaurants to choose in gorgeous Sausalito, this is last on the list.

Came in here for lunch on a weekday when I had a week off of work. It was a cold day, but after walking around in Muir Woods, we had to take our dad to Sausalito for a break. This is an Italian restaurant. What amazed me was the huge party of Italians eating here. I could tell they weren't from here, but it seemed like they enjoyed the food. The restaurant faces the ocean and there is a full bar and wine list. We ad the gnocchi with butternut squash, mushroom pizza, and pasta with green veggies with olive oil. Both had great tastes for being vegetarian dishes! Yay!
My dad enjoyed it...that's all that matters! -

Came here for my birthday last night. First, it's a great spot in Sausalito, the bay and SF skyline is right out the window. We didn't have a reservation but only had to wait like 15mins for a nice table by the window. It's not super expensive, a little pricey but not bad. Our server was really great. Before we even ordered he paused at our table with another table's food to show us what they looked like, if we were thinking of ordering it. The fettucine he had looked so good, my bf got it. It was so funny, because any time my mom tried to pour herself some more water from the bottle he would run over and say "Allow me". What service! We wanted to ask for the check so my mom pretended to pour more water and sure enough he came over. The food was really good. The best dish of the night was the ravioli with swiss chard and ricotta cheese in walnut sauce. Mmmm. We will be back for sure!

We came here for dinner last weekend on my first ever trip to Sausalito! For once in my life I didn't plan out exactly when and where to go for dinner (I didn't even consult Yelp!). We decided to just roll into town and see what looked good.
My significant other wanted to wear a T-shirt to dinner, while I took time to actually dress up... but that's a topic for another day. Anyway, we wanted a nice place to sit down, but not so nice that my date couldn't wear a T-shirt.
We cruised up and down along the waterfront and saw Angelino's. It looked packed inside so we figured we'd give it a try. I'm a vegetarian but have never not been able to find at least something to eat at an Italian place!
Despite it being around 8pm on a Friday night, we were seated immediately. This place is very small and very cramped, as other posters have mentioned. It was also quite loud since there was a bar and TVs playing. It's definitely not a quiet, date night restaurant.
One nice thing was that there were no little kids or babies screaming and crying. Our last few dinner dates have been ruined by little kids who were seemingly out of place in nicer dining establishments. Not sure if it was a coincidence, or if there just aren't kids in Sausalito. Either way, it was nice.
The bread was soft and fresh baked and very yummy. I would have liked balsamic vinegar for dipping but it wasn't the end of the world. We'd been at the beach all day and were just starving, so we inhaled it.
I ended up getting the eggplant ravioli, and they made me a pink sauce for it rather than marinara. My date got the baked fusilli with Italian sausage. Everything was really good, better than I was expecting.
As others mentioned, the food was pricey, but I know it was the area. We also got a bottle of wine to share, and of course had to get tiramisu for dessert. Yum!
This place is definitely worth trying. I would eat here again the next time I come across the bridge! -

I took my wife here for her birthday hoping for a nice romanitc dinner. I was very disappointed with the atmosphere of the restaurant. It looks nice at first, but there is a bar in the middle of the restaurant with a TV and they had it on quite loud. You hear the background music and the TV at the same time. The tables are very close together so the very loud people next to us were also a distraction.
The food was very good. I had some prawns and my wife had some pasta. The wine was excellent, and there is a terrific view of the bay and the City.
So while the food, wine and service was up to par for the prices, I do not understand spoiling the atmosphere with an annoying TV right in the middle of the place. -

Came here for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend and have only good things to say about this place. Located directly next to the water, we had a beautiful view all through dinner. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, and the sea bass literally melted in my mouth. So. Unbelievably. Delicious. And the potatoes...forget about it!! I literally made one of those 'MMMMMMMM' sounds when I was eating them.

I got a bad vibe about this place.
The waiter, a very experienced and sophisticated Italian man, was very helpful with picking a wine. I appreciated his help with that.
I was really craving red sauce, simple spaghetti. When ordering food, he told me "No, no, no, the spaghetti is not good. You need to have this instead." And I asked if it was similar to spaghetti, to which he said yes.
Food came out, and my food was nothing like spaghetti. He had me order something I'd never had, which I'm sure some people would like. But really, green pesto sauce (with very little flavor compared to the pesto I make at home and I've had in Italy), is nothing like marinara sauce!
So, try their food, but don't let the waiter order for you. I learned my lesson. -

It had been several years since I'd ventured to Sausalito and I hadn't done any research on restaurants. We chose Angelino for the location (great view) and the menu.
Why you should try it:
-Fantastic view of the city and direct ocean view
-Reasonable prices considering the location ($20-30 per person without wine)
-Fresh food, quick service, friendly staff
-Outdoor seating if desired
Things to take note of:
-Small place, cramped seating...however, this can be viewed as charming
-Not a huge menu...but good choices
-Wine list is good but pricey. You can find some good wine by the glass however...
The little things:
-The olive oil and bread they give you for dipping is yummy! Terrific Extra Virgin olive oil and fresh bread. YUM.
-Portion sizes are not huge, but we shared a pizza for two and the Antipasto appetizer and it was just right
-Larger space in the back for families or larger groups
Cheers! -

Waipahu, HI
This is most definately the best fine dining southern Italian style restaurant ever! I love its location on the waterfront in the port town of Sausalito. Food is scrumptious and service is excellent. I really enjoyed the Insalata Polpi con Patate (octopus salad). They offer an extensive wine collection and other alcholic beverages. The menu has a variety of dishes, but are a bit on the pricey side.
There are breathtaking views of Angel Island, Bay Bridge, and the City of San Francisco from this intimate restaurant. The executive chef is from Italy. He makes an appearance through the evening to speak to customers and ensure their meal is satisfactory.
Overall, I had a stupendous dining experience and shall return again when I'm visiting the area1 -

Uh. It was ok. Place was actually very nice and food we ordered was pretty good but my pasta bowl was pretty basic. I wanted rich red sauce with big beefy chunks. I got a light sauce with a meat crumbs.
Waiter was ok .. Not as polished as I expected in Sausalito but looking around the room, there may be better servers.
Not a memorable experience as far as food goes, but it was my girlfriends birthday weekend in Sausalito so on top of everything else it was very nice.
Give this place a shot. It has a great view, comfortable, a little slow getting the food, but not bad.
Also try the Italian deli next door and the italian bakery a few doors down. Now there you will have a ball!

We were looking for a nice lunch in beautiful Sausalito, California (about 30 min ferry ride from San Francisco). We stumbled upon Angelino. It was 3 O'Clock and people were still dining. The restaurant wasn't packed, but had it's share of diners, and the dishes on tables looked appetizing.
We came inside and were quickly seated. We ordered Rock Octopus salad, followed by Minestrone Soup and Bean Soup, followed by seafood linguini and penne with greens. The salad was good, but very oily. It had very flavorful olives which appear to be already dipped in oil, so e additional oil was too much. The bread that was served was light and delicious. The soups were good, although not memorable.
The seafood linguini was good, but it was surprising that the pasta at this seemingly authentic Italian restaurant was store-bought and not fresh. The penne with greens was overly salted.
Overall, this restaurant is a solid 3-star, but didn't quite make it past that rating. The food was ok, not great. The service was ok too, but not great. This place could be great if only more love would be present in the food and service. -

San Francisco, CA
The waiter was annoying and very theatrical, pretending to know German but just making us uncomfortable.
What I really dislike though was that they trick you into splitting things and then charge you 4 USD for it! And, then they don't even have the balls to spell that out on the bill but just add it to the amount of the dish so you don't notice.
To add more detail: my brother ordered the caprese salad as a starter and I had actually seen the split charge 4 USD printed at the very bottom in small letters. No one else ordered starters. When the waiter served the starter, he had 3 small plates in his hand. My brothers girlfriend declined but I took a plate since I wanted to try some. Well that was considered sharing and they charged a split charge!
On the neighboring table there was a family where 2 little kids shared a pizza, I'm sure they charged them too!!
The food was good but not oustanding and therefore I found the restaurant quite pricey. -

The bread alone was worth five stars. So heavenly.
The Pizza Nettuno was yummy. I've never tasted seafood pizza before, but this concoction was totally worth it. Share this with someone you love. The pizza itself was the usual authentic Italian fare--crisp, perfect combination of pizza, sauce and herbs--but the seafood was just... genius. The Einstein who created this dish deserves all the money that he's getting it from it.
The Tagliarini Con Granchio was also very delicious. The crab wasn't really... noticeable? I guess, I wanted more crab. The sauce and pasta and the crab were really top-notch, though short of amazing.
Expensive... but definitely delicious. A solid 3.5, rounded down for price because my wallet is getting too light. -

PROS:
The food and wines are really wonderful. Unlike others have stated, the service has always been excellent for me.
CONS:
Only a few table have a view of the bay, while the majority have a view of either the parking lot or the outdated furniture.
VERDICT:
One of my favorite lunch spots. Request a table with a view. -

Perhaps it was an off night. Being a local I can see why tourist might enjoy this place, but I won't be going back anytime soon. It is loud, over croweded (tables are way to close together), food was almost average, and I have this little thing that when you order a drink I hate it when a bartender needs to use a shot glass to measure the pour....
We had a table of six and honeslty, pinky swear there wasn't more than 2 inches between our table and table behind us. Thank god they were really nice people, toursit as a matter of fact, who didn't seem to mind that our chairs keep knocking.
Food was so unmeorable I don't even remember how my sole was cooked, nor what the other folks in our group had.
It was sad for me... I was hoping for so much better. Ohhhhh well.. win some lose some. -

We wanted a great Sunday afternoon Italian Meal in Sausalito. However, the food was ok to good and the views wonderful but the attitude needs help. Our waiter who might have been an owner was too fast and impatient which I could interpret as rude. As an Italian I was embarrassed someone waits on people like this. It was like the food was thrown at us. I won't be back and need a better fix for Italian in Sausilito.
Note: My Dad and wife were less hard on this guy saying this was typical Tuscan Italian style of directness and it comes with the territory. However, I have met a lot of Italians who are much more tactful. You can decide for yourself. -

Wow, what a find. A slow Monday luncheon for the 4 of us. Creative salads, pastas and secondis.
Antipasti:
1. Grilled calamari salad, wow, so fresh and a mix of complex flavors alongside. Topped by a perfectly grilled flavorful juicy prawn. Stacked on top of gently pickeled red and yellow peppers.
2. Never had a grilled peach in Italy in a salad, but this was a perfectly ripe freestone peach, full of sugar, lighlty warmed/grilled married to riccotta and a light dressing.
Did not have it, but the ceasar salad looked mouthwatering.
Pasta:
-Tagliarini (homemade) with crab. Litely chopped tomatos, perfect touch of heat and garlic. Never have ordered a fresh crab pasta before, this crab was fresh, and shelled (no shell remnants). Always a good sign when the waiter does NOT offer cheese on top of the crab (or other fish) pasta.
-Fettuccine (homemade) in a real sugo, no tomato base, just rich flavors and NOT swimming in sauce. Not your normal bolognese, but better.
-Grilled cod on a bed of spinach (ok spinach) with almonds, capers and diced tomatoes. Portion a bit small. Fish nicely prepared, juicy, great texture.
Staff: Attentive, not irritating. Somehow, even when a restaurant has very few customers, the plates need to be cleared ASAE (as soon as empty), I hate that, makes me feel rushed.
I'll go back. Been there (I think) 20 years, I can see why. -

Carissimo Angelino,
(you KNOW you've got it bad when you start quoting Laura Pausini).
Ti voglio bene, sai?
Ti voglio per le tagliatelle, nere con gamberetti, o con l'olio di tartufo, per gli gnocchi, per le cappesante gratinate, per il caffe forte, e per la vista. Ciao amore mio, a presto.
Mi mancherai ...
tanti baci,

What's another word for amazing?
Remarkable!
Incredible!
Marvelous!
All to describe Angelino's, hands down, the best, Italian food I have ever had in my life. I heard about this place as a recommendation to take my husband his family for lunch. We made a date to go out one Saturday afternoon for lunch and while we knew it was going to be good, we were not prepared for what we got.
It's in Sausaltio with an amazing view of the water, bridge, and if it's a clear day that day, it's like you can see forever! The restaurant itself is very quaint with white tablecloths. The staff very friendly, and very efficient service.
I had the gnocchi with beef and my husband ordered the linguine con vongole (linguine with clams) and were so impressed we could barely speak to each other during the meal; we were so engrossed in our food. The gnocchi was well cooked, light sauce, and the beef was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned to compliment the gnocchi. The linguine my husband had was nothing short of amazing. They served that dish with the tiny clams cooked in their shells with a light sauce as well. Nothing was too heavy nor were the portions too overwhelming. (Sorry while I wipe my drool)
I have not had the chance to go back (sadly), but I tell everybody the same thing; if you want good, authentic Italian food, this is the place to go to! Don't expect Italian-American chain food here, this is the real deal!Listed in: Top Restaurants, ROTD Love~

There's one phrase to describe Angelino's: molto benne!
The food is extraordinary. I recommend starting with their caesar salad and having their amazing chicken parmagiana (I can taste it already).
The setting is breathtaking as well. Angelino's is located near the water in downtown Sausalito and on a clear day you can see the Embarcadero.
My biggest bug-a-boo about the place nonetheless is the service. When I go with my co-workers, I'm treated like royalty. Any other time, and the wait is unbearable...but worth it.
I recommend Angelino's for those looking to escape the city for an evening and in search of a moderately priced, romantic spot.Listed in: Top Restaurants

On a perfect day in October, I asked my friend to pick a place for dinner and he did. Wonderful Angelino's! I had never been there before, so it was a nice 'new' treat. Started with a delicious Caesar salad, and then followed with Ravioli stuffed with Ricotta. A not too tangy tomato sauce on top with fresh basil. Fabulous. My friend ordered the grilled swordfish special. Wow. That was fresh and seasoned just right. The end to a perfect meal - creamy rich Tiramisu.
Very cute little restaurant with fabulous views of the water. Definitely worth the trip from the city. -

I'd never been to Sausalito before I wined-and-dined at this establishment.
It was nice. Classy. Fancy. It's the kind of place I'm not necessarily comfortable in (I seem to prefer dingy, gross, grimey diners and taquerias over the expensive stuff.), but they made me feel welcome and at-home.
The servers/waiters there flirted with me nonstop: "Bella"-this and "Amore"-that....it was fun. They treated me like a queen. What girl doesn't like being treated like a queen?
The wine was nice, albeit a bit pricey. They were a little stingy on the pouring, but I just overlooked that and glanced over the glass and out the window, to admire their AMAZING, BREATHTAKING view of San Francisco from across the Bay. (The only other place that could have quite the view would be Scoma's, but I hear the Sausalito location should be skipped.)
I got the special for the night: grilled salmon with veggies and potato. The portions were pretty skimp. When they sat down the plate, I was shocked at the limited amount of asparagus they provided (something like four small spears?) and the half-a-small-potato they grilled up. The slab of salmon was considerable, and I made my date eat his first bite of seafood (yeah, EVER) that night. Whaddya know: he liked it. (So there, the nonseafood-eater enjoyed their salmon.)
He got the spaghetti with meat sauce. (Adventurous one, that.) I'm pretty sure it was good to him...but my roommate certainly enjoyed the leftovers. I didn't try it (I don't eat the meats that aren't from the sea.)
Dessert was some date-chocolate-bread-pudding thing. It was good, but I've decided I just cannot be a fan of bread pudding no matter how hard I try. The presentation was nice, though. The dates made it unique.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience, though I think I could spend that amount elsewhere for something more impressive.
You can't really beat the view of San Francisco, though. It's niiiiiiice. A walk after dinner by the Bay is a good topper to the evening. -

A quaint Italian restaurant with gorgeous views, great food and excellent service. Weekdays they have special menu items at a reduced price if you just want to go somewhere nice after work with a friend.
Suggestions and things I have learned for weekend dining: Make reservations for 3-4 people. This way you can sit by the front window viewing the incredible bay and passer-bys. Try one of their Italian Limoncello cocktails and share an appetizer between two (there isn't enough for more)- the scallops are incredible. When ready to order, listen to your waiter, ask for recommendations and TAKE THEM. He/he knows the good stuff....let him bring it to you! If you have room for dessert, they are all great, you can't go wrong. Besides it gives you an excuse to linger awhile longer viewing the ships in the bay and enjoying your friends and family. -

OH MY GOD. That's all I have to say. What an incredible experience we had this weekend at Angelino's. It was recommended by the wine bar Bacchus & Venus down the street who said it was truly authentic Italian, and boy was it ever!
We started with the anti-Pasto plate which was perfection. The Fresh bufala mozzarella just melted in my mouth. It was accompanied by both smoked & fresh prosciutto, Niman Ranch salami, marinated olives and these delicious breaded cheese bites that were phenomenal.
Mark and I split the asparagus soup and the Cesar salad followed by a pizza unlike any other pizza I have ever tasted. We had the Pizza Capricciosa which had mozzarella, artichoke, olives and prosciutto. It was so incredible.
The best part about this restaurant was the experience. Danila was our waiter and we will most definitely request him each time we visit. His expertise in recommending most of our meal and the wine selection just made us feel very comfortable. Instead of the usual grumbles you get when you ask to split everything, he welcomed the idea and made sure to bring every part of our meal split out in two dishes. We sat facing out on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to the water and the many sailboats floating by which just captured a perfect afternoon. Mark and I dine out quite frequently and by far, this was the best overall experience we have had. Plus it helped that the Italian waiters all had perfectly chiseled physiques and heavy accents. Well at least it helped me out a little .... I don't know about Mark. -

How's this for a romantic Saturday evening: drive across the Golden Gate Bridge; arrive in Sausalito, a seaside town evoking the best summers you've ever had; walk up to Angelino Restaurant, greeted by a red, green and white Vespa by the front door; and proceed to drink delicious wines, eat some of the most authentic Italian food you've ever come across, and be treated like royalty by a waiter whose sexy Italian accent has you hanging on his every word, whether you understand it or not (okay, that was more pleasurable for the female member of this date).
So that, in a nutshell, is Angelino.
Some specifics: the salade di melograno was delicious, light, a wonderful introduction to our gustatory evening. Consists of pomegranates, pine nuts (everything is better with pine nuts) and romaine lettuce, with some fancy kind of cheese. I don't love cheese, but I was scarfing this stuff up.
For dinner, my boyfriend (gracefully) wolfed down his pizza, which came with broccoli rabe and sausage. I didn't ask for any bites, owing to my inability to part with any bites of my own dish, but his contented resignation into a food coma suggests that this was a very, very good pizza.
For my part, I had the spaghetti with shrimp, lemon zest and artichokes. (I tossed and turned over the spaghetti, the gnocchi, the papardelle and the ravioli. I was in the mood to twirl pasta, so spaghetti it was.) Our charming waiter suggested I substitute tagliatelli for the spaghetti, and who was I to protest? I ate every single bite. I had no desire to do the ladylike thing and leave a bite on my plate. Unthinkable.
This was one of those chilly Sausalito nights, so there was no post-dinner walks along the bay for us. So we're already looking forward to returning during the summer, when we can sit outside while we dine and watch the sailboats scoot across the bay. -

The weekend following Valentine's Day, my husband and I were still in the mood for sinful Italian food. We drove to Sausalito (our first time there) in the afternoon and found Angelina in a very convenient location, right opposite the amazing ocean and SF city views, which is really the heart of Sausalito. It was rather crowded there and the relative calm of the restaurant was refreshing.
I would give them two stars only for customer service. Let me elaborate. We were not satisfied with the location of the table we were seated at and wanted a cozier corner table. We changed tables twice but the manager was very accommodating. I also asked for garlic to be included in the olive oil dip, and a second loaf of bread. All these free food and services were provided to us without so much as a frown. I really appreciate this about them.
Angelino has a small lively bar too. Most of the loyal customers at this restaurant seemed to be on the older side of 45, but I did see a handful of young tourists.
Down to the actual food. The white wine was adequate. The chef, on seeing me, suggested a vegetarian lentil soup (how thoughtful !!). It was delicious and hunger-inducing, though I could not imagine it being a part of Italian cuisine (maybe Southern Italian cuisine has lentils). We did not mind the 30 min waiting time for the entree - the bread and soup were quite a meal for us. We ordered mushroom ravioli and pepperoncino spinach pasta. Both of them were simple and tasty. The chefs who served us actually explain the foods casually while laying it on the table. We refused extra cheese for the soup, so we were not asked for the pasta either, which
was just the way we wanted.
Vegetarian Italian food is my favorite and I'll go back to this restaurant mainly for the dining experience and the non-fussy food. -

This is a little harsh - really 2.5 stars, but I'm downgrading it b/c of what I paid to get that 2.5 stars worth of food...
Most food is veg-friendly... Fiance, myself and a veggie gf went there one night for dinner and ordered entrees only... It was good... They both got gnocchi and I got parpadelle - both pastas did not have meat in them, and they were smaller portions. Gnocchi was good, but not fantastic, and I was definitely underwhelmed by the parpadelle. Noodles were cooked well, but the sauce was a red sauce with some mushrooms in it... I hate ordering things that I could make at home. And I hate paying $20/plate for it...
IF I go back, maybe I'll try the pizza? -

Appetizer: Insalata Angelino.
Main dish: Pappardelle Con Funghi
Cocktail: Red Tail Ale
Wine: Pinot Noir, Olivet Lane 2006
I enjoyed a Red Tail Ale from Mendocino County while waiting for friends to arrive. Then we were seated at the window table in the front of the restaurant with one of the finest views of The City - expansive Bay waters criss-crossed by yachts, with the iconic Transamerica building dead center. The view from this table, alone, put the restaurant in a favorable light right away.
Salad was very good. Absolutely fresh mesclun, with just a light coating of a not-too-acidic balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The main course - large flat handmade noodles with a variety of mushrooms, fresh tomatoes and basil - was good, too. The local pinot noir went well with my dish and the rest of those at the table who had gnocchi and the beef short ribs special (both of which had sauces that were light and flavorful, just like my pappardelle dish).
Service was good. Parking is quite difficult throughout this tiny town. Suggest using the public parking spot in the center of the town & walking a couple of blocks to this restaurant. Prices are standard for the Bay Area. -

I went in expecting really high prices and a pretentious atmosphere, but I was so wrong. The prices were only slightly above moderate and there were kids running about, families, and wait staff who speak Italian.
Angelino is a festive, homey place with excellent food. We went here for my graduation dinner, so the 3 of us splurged and got the antipasto plate, lasagna, fettucine bolognese, and butternut squash ravioli. Sounds really mundane, right? I can assure you that they weren't! They were prepared with very fresh, primo ingredients that really came out in the flavors of the dishes. The butternut squash ravioli was especially sweet. Excellent wines, too.
Delizioso! -

I used to go to Angelino quite regularly several years back. It's been years, but I returned today to find the prices were quite high relative to what they used to be (and what you got for them).
My friend ordered pasta that tasted (seriously) just like what I could make using Hamburger Helper, and I (wanting something light) got an order of bruschetta and a caprese "salad."
The bruschetta turned out to be four slices of bread with a mound of completely tasteless tomatoes on top, and, salt and pepper as I may, I could not get it to taste as good as what I make at home (the trick is to rub the toasted bread with a clove of garlic).
Worse, the Caprese salad was -- literally four tomato slices artfully arranged with some mozzarella on top. For that price I was thinking it would be on a bed of lettuce. It just wasn't satisfying. More a sampler, and a very pricey sampler relative to what it was.
Needless to say, when we left I was seriously contemplating a burger from In 'n Out, and I sincerely doubt I'll ever go back here again -- which is a real shame because I was a regular customer for years (until I started dating someone who never wanted to go to Marin).
It really pains me to leave such a low review for a place I used to hold in such high regard, but I feel it's accurate. Angelino needs a serious rethink.
It's ridiculous to pay these kinds of prices and feel completely unsatisfied (and duped) when you leave. -

I came back for a second round. The food, again, was very good. I had some fresh pasta with tuna and tomato sauce. And, it was delicious.
I feel like it's a little pricey for what you get. I'll probably l go back again. But, it's not my staple Italian restaurant in Sausalito.
I think Poggio is a better value. Although, they are clearly different styles of Italian cuisine.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Tanya P.
Owned by a brown bear parent, the locally-owned restaurant came as a recommendation in the school yard.
Can only speak for the takeout, but everything was vibrant and zesty. We spent a long time perusing the online menu over the weekend only to find upon ordering that a new menu was in place. Instead of butternut squash ravioli, I had a spinach walnut cheese concoction that was lost against the seafood pasta, pizza, octopus salad. Higher than a 3.5 but not necessarily a solid 4. Dishes were out of the ball park or a pass. I shouldn't have ordered the ravioli, but cannot complain about the efficient service. -

I ended up eating here twice in the span of one day -- mostly because of it's convenience and proximity to our hotel, but it was also a very good place to have both lunch and dinner.
Both times I had the garlic bread as an appetizer which was extremely good, the crab pasta (Tagliarini Con Granchio) was to die for. Maybe one of the best pastas I've ever had. Linguine Con Vongole was decent, I'd try it in a tomato sauce rather than the white wine, but that's just a personal preference. The pizza we ordered was alright, I've had better at a cheaper price. So skip over the pizza in favor of better entrees and pastas, I would say.
For dessert, Creme Brulee all the way! Tiramisu was also very good.
Ambiance in general was very nice, the waiter was very friendly and I had a great dining experience here, both times. It's more of a small group place, quite intimate and with a great view of the bay. Would go back in a heartbeat, especially for that Tagliarini Con Granchio!
