I'm in love with Angel Seafoods for their sashimi & frozen fish! I like to buy ingredients there and cook my own Japanese meals.
They have some items hidden at the back, so if you can't find something that you want, don't be shy, just ask! -

Excellent source for Japanese food products. This is a wholesaler, but they are open to the public. Inexpensive frozen sashimi grade fish makes for a great snack or meal. The place is quite run down. But their frozen product is top notch and supplies many of the Japanese restaurants in the Greater Vancouver area.
It is particularly fun to go there right before New Year's when they open up their back room where they do a lot of the prep work and offer a much wider selection of products than they do the rest of the year to help everyone prepare for the holiday. Some very interesting imported products during that special event - and they tend to give you a free gift with purchase (like an extra fish!). I love this store, even though they are old, beaten up, and have water all over the floor frequently! -

This place was an interesting find and I discovered it by fluke. I didn't realize how big this place is ( main business seems to be supplies for Japanese restaurants) and mainly deals in bulk supplies. They do have a small area for buying items at a non commercial level and is open to general public. The prices are very good as I found excellent grade sashimi and marinated black cod for 20-30% less that what you would pay at another store. They don't have the variety of a place like Fujiya. The focus is mainly on seafood (no surprise) with some side items thrown in for good measure. I heard they open their storage door to general public before the holidays so it might be worth visiting it then. Definitively worth a visit.
