Just stumbled on this Mexican restaurant on W. Broadway. Been in the mood for Mexican cuisine so decided to give this place a try as the authentic Mexican decor and music made a good first impression.
I had a vegetarian entre - the New Mexico enchilada and really enjoyed the green chili. My first time here so have't sampled a variety of entre, I think this is a great Mexican choice in that neighbourhood and would definitely go back to try the dessert menu. They have about 6-8 dessert choices and it was all authentic Mexican items, i.e. not just ice cream :) Portion size was filling so didn't have room for dessert this time.
This place is so authentic that even their washroom doors are in Spanish lol. So please make sure you know the Spanish words for ladies or gentleman... as I was like which door is for the ladies.
This place definitely brought back memories of the Mexican restaurants in Mexico and the US. Bon Appetit (okay fine, that's French but you know what you mean lol) -

I'm in Vancouver from out of town and thought I'd check this place out with my friend. First thing, I did not expect this place to have Mexican food on the level that I am used to at home in California, but I expect it to be semi-decent. What I was most taken aback by was the pricing, it was absolutely ridiculous. Seven dollars is WAY too much for frijoles con queso, and the cheapest burrito (bean and cheese, essentially the same thing as the frijoles con queso appetizer) was $14. If I'm gonna pay $14 at a Mexican restaurant I better be getting some amazing carne asada.
So, I went ahead and stuck with the frijoles. It was a pretty small serving with a mere handful of chips on the side, not enough to eat all the dip with. Overall, I'd say the flavor was okay, the chips were kind of odd, a little sweet for some reason. Service wasn't that great, the restaurant wasn't busy, but it was still slow service. I left annoyed that I had just paid $13 total (including tip) for beans, cheese, chips, and a diet coke. I would definitely keep looking if you're in the mood for authentic Mexican food. -

I have been to this restaurant a few times. They have some really killer nachos and chimichanga, but I'm a bit disappointed in the tacos (big boo). The nachos and the chimichanga are full of flavour, while the tacos are lacking. The price range is really good. This is a really causal locale, good for just coming by and chilling out.

Andale's served us rotten food. Literally.
The 11 layer dip and bean/cheese quesadilla tasted of mold and when I brought it to the server's attention, he insisted I was wrong and that all the food was made fresh even though it arrived at our table in less than 2 minutes, lukewarm.
I was forced to spit out my mouthful of dip because it tasted so rancid.
Our server was "Bill", who told us "nobody else has complained all day," discrediting our complaint. We are extremely disgusted and unsatisfied and will never go back.
Even with a Groupon, it wasn't worth it. The portions were tiny for the price we paid; when I get food poisoning, I'll know who to blame.

Found it while strolling with hubby on a drizzling Saturday afternoon in March. Saw it from across the street thanks to big awning, otherwise an unassuming storefront.
Very authentic Mexican decor and music. Sat by the window, very relaxing people watching, and casual friendly service. I had the Chicken and Mushroom Quesadilla which had a bit overpowering spicy bite. Hubby had a Breakfast burrito which impressed him (and he's not easy to impress with food). Overall quite good experience and we'll most likely return for dinner soon.
One more thing - huge portions. We were still stuffed at dinner time. -

This is not a Mexican restaurant. I ordered enchiladas, which tasted like curry. The Kitchen Staff wasn't mexican, they were asian so the taste was very very weird. The service was good, they were friendly,etc... food is overpriced. The decoration is pretty weird too. Definitely not going back again. I rather go to Salsa y agave, pinche taco, dona data or the mexican. They are way better!

It was okay. I've had better mexican food in *insert US city here* ;) But hey, this is Vancouver.
I ordered the 'New Mexico' enchilada, hoping it would remind me of when I was in Albuquerque, but sadly no. The green chile didn't have much flavour.
However, my mango margarita was very good. The ceviche was alright, but too much shrimp. I prefer some octopus, but .. alas.
The waitress, who was in her mid 40's I'd guess, was awful. No napkins under our cutlery and it just didn't seem like she has ever done a waitressing job.
At one point while we were waiting to ask for our bill, I turned around and saw the manager & the waitress both sitting down to eat at a table. To me, that's rude. You have customers, you should be waiting on them, not sitting at a table to eat. Lame. -

I love this part of Kits, far from the glitzy boutique shops into the more neighborhoody part. Andale has some history in these parts and has a good reputation for it.
The decor is typical and welcoming, and the front windows open up for warm weather days. I'm sure the place is hopping in those warm times.
Our experience was good, but also enhanced by the company of our good friends who guided us here.
We ordered Sangria to share. I wouldn't say this was the best Sangria I've had, but it's nice and refreshing. The chips were warm, and the salsa fresh and tasty, although the staff was distracted by the Canucks play-off game on the TV, so I have to say that our service was affected..... but I forgive.
We ordered Chile Relleno which was authentic but lacking in distinction, the Chimi Changa which never fails to satisfy our friend who is a regular here, and Black bean soup, which I would say to just pass on because it completely lacked personality.
Over all I would say to try the place in your search for great Mexican food here in Vancouver, but the search continues. -

The complementary tortilla chips and salsa are my favourite part about eating at Andale's. I like them even more than Las Margaritas'. Yummm.
Good food, and you really can't go wrong if you have a 2for1 coupon :D -

Another rainy weeknight, we decided to go for some Mexican food. We were near this area, and decided to try this place out.
Their decor is typical Mexican, nothing too special. We were approached and asked if we wanted any drinks. We got a pitcher of sangria.
Menu consists of lots of choices, enchiladas, fajitas....We were given complimentary tortailla chips and salsa. The salsa was ok, and chips were nothing special.
We ordered the paella, which required us to order a 2 person quantity. This came in a large pan, which looks like the paella was originally cooked in this. Lots of seafood topped this dish-mussels, prawns, fish. Flavour is good, rice had a good texture, and the dish is not too dry nor soggy. Seafood is fresh, with different kinds of fish. The portion of this is very big, it's much more than 2 people can savour.
Service is ok here, and the restaurant is relatively clean. Overall a good experience. -

The food is dull, far from anything Mexican, and pricey for all that. My burrito and my partner's chimichanga looked the same and had the same brown, bovril-tasting gravy on them. A large tortilla overwhelmed the contents completely, the black beans seem straight out of the can. For $15??! Either we Vancouverites don't know our Mexican food or we're so desperate for it that we'll eat anything called Mexican. The service staff were borderline polite. I didn't appreciate the fellow at the back of the house hollering to people coming in the door to find their own seats - rude to everyone trying to have a conversation with their dinner. The place is cosy and we live in the neighbourhood. We could be regular customers but will not be returning.

It's easy to drive right by this place and when you're walking down the street all you see is "Mexican Cantina" instead of the name "Andales". Unassuming and quaint the entrance slightly hidden from view, it all leads to a wonderful experience inside.
I would say it is one of the best as close as you can get to a Mexican home cooked meal as possible. The service is super friendly and polite with a ton of attention spent ensuring your every needs are met.
The lady that always seems to be working here is super sweet. Enchiladas here are super tasty and what I always find myself ordering over and over again. -

I love andales. I went to the one on Davie (which unfortunately closed down) for the first time after pride a few years ago. I asked the waitress what she suggested and she told me to order the chicken chimichanga. Ever since then, that's the only dish I ever order.

Came for dinner around 6pm The waitress seamed super-bored with her job, and didn't express much enthusiasm serving us... But damn, the food was just too good to care about service!

If your into Mexican food as much as I am then you will surely luv this place. It is very unassuming, you can literally walk by and not even notice the place. The decor is very typical. Lots of sombreros and Pinata as far as the eye can see. I usually have the Chimichanga which comes loaded with rice, black beans, gauc, sour cream, and I usually wash it down with a nice cold Granville Island pale ale. This place is always quiet and the service is good. Ohhh one other thing when you are seated at the table and begin to take it all in for the first time, don't get thrown off by the pictures of food on the wall... trust me it don't look anything like it does in the picture and thats a good thing!

Ho hum Mexican. Chimichangas with mole sauce at $13.95 are not cheap but were OK, the Chicken Enchiladas were bland and uninspired. And I am still perplexed at what the $20 small pitcher of Margarita bought me. Not a Tequila glow, but an after taste of artificial lime flavour perhaps. Boo.

I've been to the broadway location 3 or 4 times, and once to the downtown location. Haven't been disappointed yet.
Usually I order Fajitas, I've tried the chicken, prawns and lamb (which isn't on the menu but they will make it for you). A friend also tried the prawn enchiladas (which I believe also isn't on the menu).
Unassuming location, but clean and the service is good. Portions are huge. I use to mostly go to Las Margaritas, but now I prefer Andales. -
