Review from Ria S.
My friend and I wandered into this place on a trip to Toronto because it looked cool from the outside... walked in, saw a couple of old men and persevered anyway. The bartender, Dylan, is awesome! He introduced himself to us (and everyone) and addressed us all by name throughout the night..
Maybe it's Canadian hospitality, but it's the friendliest bar I've ever gone to. I wish I could find a place like this in the States! It's even cool on a Monday night. -

This really is your dingy neighbourhood bar. Which would normally be fine and worthy of three stars but the service is terrible if you're not a regular. Our group ordered a pitcher. When we wanted another one we had to go up and ask for it. When we finished the second, guess what? Yup, we had to go up and ask for our bill.
The place was nearly full by the time we left but the bartender/waitress wasn't so busy that she couldn't make the rounds. Especially since this place is not very big.
I saw some people had ordered plates of fries so I'm not sure what type of food they have or even if there is a full menu. They have some decent options on tap like Flying Monkeys and Buzz. They also have crap on tap like 50.
If you're into people watching then this would be the place for you. Many odd balls and randoms. There was a guy playing pool that was randomly blowing a whistle.
P.S. If you can figure out what the tongs are for that are hanging below the men's washroom sink, let me know. -

This is a bar of old men. If you like that, you'll love this bar.
Hilarious, friendly people made three Americans feel deeply welcome. Free pool table. Saucy bartender. The colorful owner proposed slaughtering a goat out back for Easter.
This place is essentially Cheers, Canada-style. We even went over which regular would fit with the Cheers cast.
An island of authenticity in the ocean of Bloor cool. -

This place reeks of authenticity. All the authenticity of a sleezy bar. The name is very fitting, since I want to forget I've ever been there.
But, as Monty Python says, always look on the bright side of life: the pool table and WiFi are free, so you can get you smartphone, check-in and let your friends know where you are so they can rescue you.
