Review from Nestor B.

Our cat's been a patient at Amherst ever since we moved to Vancouver. I have to say that, initially, I was put off by the insane cost of some very basic exams and treatments. But I have since learned that this seems to be a Canadian or, at least, a Vancouver problem, and that Amherst's bills are not at all extraordinary (that maybe just as a hint for new 'Canadians').
Aside from this, I've always felt very good about this clinic. The staff are always friendly and very helpful and the vets certainly very knowledgeable and approachable. I've had the best experiences with Dr. McLean, but have also dealt with two other doctors in the past, and have generally had only positive experiences. I did very rarely feel like there was the slightest hint of an 'up-sell' going on when talking to some of the vets, which is why they don't get the full star-age from me, but the issue was never pressed. As far as the results go, our cat's alive and well and has never come back from the vet as well recovered and, not least, groomed, as he has in the past two years being looked after at Amherst. I would definitely recommend them. -

Whiffen has been a regular user of Amherst....
Very friendly and understanding staff... The vets there are quite knowledgeable and offer unbiased clinical opinion. They are also quite efficient as well.
From hernia repair to BSO to Xrays.... yes... Whiffen has been a REGULAR user.....
The clinic is located with its own parking lot in a smallish shopping center so that's quite helpful in getting surly BMD off the car to see the vet for another shot... -

We took our ailing rabbit to this facility with an appointment and left with no useful information. The vet barely touched the rabbit and seemed uncertain how to handle a rabbit - not to mention an apparent lack of knowledge about rabbit health. We were instructed to feed the rabbit an antibiotic pill twice daily but no suggestions, despite multiple requests, as to how this might be done. Money down the drain - and still a sick rabbit with no remedy!

I love this place! I went to 3 different vets and was very dissatisfied before I found Amherst. I usually go to Dr. Watkins, but have also seen a few others and thy were all great. Very good at what they do, but also kind, gentle, and friendly, which does not seem to be common with vets elsewhere. They are also understanding when it cones to the cost factor, so when they did testing when my dog was sick, not eating, and lethargic, they did one test at a time, and waited to see if that was it instead of doing ten tests at once. they always phoned m with updates and to ask my opinion on whether I wanted other tests done. When I got the bill there were no surprises. I highly recommend this vet clinic!
