I heard about Great Wolf Lodge and decided to look into taking my kids. I was then told about another place called Americana. Americana is a hotel with a indoor waterpark and spa located in a shady part of Niagara falls. The price was about half of the price of Great Wolf so we booked a package to go and stay 1 night. The Hotel itself was not bad but while the rooms were very nice the hotel hall ways were very old looking. The water park was a lot smaller then Great Wolf however there is still a lot of things to do and enjoy. They have a indoor arcade like chuckie cheese that you buy tokens and win tickets to use for over the counter toys. The food was decent as we got wings and a pizza. Over all the place is pretty good for the price.
The only issues I had was that I did not know that strip clubs were so close to the place. Unfortunately this was not 100% for just families. There were some older truckers and other odd people wandering around the inside of the hotel and the waterpark. The arcade area was dissapointing that for every dollar you get 1 token. No matter what you do unless you spend $100 on tokens you will never win enough tickets to get any of the toys for your child. I spent $30 and won enough tickets to get my son tiny plastic airplanes that they sell at the dollar store in bulk for $1 a bag. They dont have anyone watching who walks into the water park so unfortunately the entire time people were walking into the water park wearing winter boots and coats. Really caused a mess when your walking around in shorts and barefeet and people are tracking mud, salt and snow into the place. The outside doors lock at 9 except for the main doors so if you intend to go anywhere after 9 when you come back you will be walking for a long time from the main entrance doors.
The good things, the wife loved the fact that you are only blocks from the Coach store and I was happy there was a I Hop down the street also. very large rooms. We had a balcony with 3 beds and 2 flat screens, however the tv channels were not what they claimed to be in the menu. Couldnt find cartoons for the kids. I dont know if I would go to Americana again even though it was fun, I think I would spend the extra money for Great Wolf Lodge. But a decent place for the price. -

Stayed here for one night with a discount for a family of 5 to use the water park and included $25 dinner credit, $50 spa credit and $50 Seneca Casino credit.
Pros: The size of the room was amazing! Really big room. It's difficult to find rooms that can accommodate children and parents in a fun way. The room had a bunk bed in a "mini room" that had a tv and dresser so kids can watch their own show as adults watch other shows in the main room. The water park is adequate, if you have been to Great Wolf Lodge it's relatively smaller with 4 main slides. Had dinner at Jack Tanners restaurant and the sandwiches and wraps were quite good and well priced ( there is a tendency to over price things in Niagara!). Our server was excellent and booths have TVs so the kids can be entertained :)
Cons: forget about arriving and booking spa treatments, I was being offered times at 4pm the next day even though I mentioned I was only there for one night. Also the Seneca Casino is not on-sight. It is also inconvenient to have to use one-time use lockers that you pay $1 for at the swimming area to store your valuables (no safe).
It's a decent hotel, the room, bed, bathroom (double sink) included are the best part. If you are looking for a budget getaway this is a good pick. -
