Given I'm such a fan of the first Amelio's location pizza pie, I wanted to give this one a try.
The owner is the daughter of the original Amelio's owner. She uses the same ingredients and recipes as her brothers (who now own the original Amelio's in the McGill ghetto).
Well, it's definitely a very good pie...but not quite as good as the original one. Not sure if it's because the taste of the pizza is also related to the environment it's consumed in or other factors.
This pie, like the original, has a bready crust that is thick, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The tomato sauce is good but I found tasted a bit different than the original one. They definitely didn't skimp on the toppings and the cheese is plentiful and delicious.
Somehow it just didn't give me the same satisfaction as the original Amelio's pizza does.
The restaurant decor is nice (made me think of a Restaurant Makeover decor for some reason) and the service was warm and friendly.
I would not hesitate a second to recommend this place if you're in the area.
