I haven't been back for roughly half a year (only because I don't live in the area) but so much has changed!
I love that they have more selection of produce. Everything looks fresh. It's more organized too. The selection of products and produce is plenty.
Parking lot is always full these days, but it's a quick turnover, so it's never too much of a hassle.
This is my favourite uptown organic/natural food store! -

I'm not really a "natural foods" foodie, but I was curious to stop here on my way from a trip to Cayne's (see immediately prior review). It is a nicely laid out store with some very good prices on certain, but not all, items. However, as another reviewer mentioned, the aisles are too narrow.
They have a large selection of food supplements and seems to sell a big quantity of these.
This is not type of place I'd make regular trips to but it is something I'd check out from time to time now that I know about it. -

Service is definitely a hit or miss and the security guard will weirdly follow people around the store, not cool.
I'm here enough to know that they do get the one thing right, -this is easily the most inexpensive store for organic and special diet items in the GTA.
Some of their Brands: Dr. Hauschka, Weleda, Larabars, Pacifica.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Ambrosia Natural Foods impressed me so much that I ended up buying some of their healthy snacks.
Ok, Some organic popcorn... but it is a good start to the route of healthy living? :P No?
Ambrosia's crackers and cookies aisle has great selections too!
I found the prices here are pretty good and reasonable.. and I didn't faint when I try to compare to the "regular" food I been purchasing from the regular supermarket.
Ambrosia Natural Foods is a must if you are into Natural Foods!!Listed in: Grocery Store I Visit, Healthy, Natural and Organic!

Health-y food in the north end!
I was glad to find this place when i was staying with my brother and his family in the north end of the city.
The place had almost everything I was looking for at a reasonable price and in a fairly accessible location (with a car). The only thing was limited parking but I went on a Saturday afternoon so it was commuter chaos! I should know better, but I was desperate for vegan/organic food! lol -

Ambroisa is like a mini Big Carrot in the Yonge/Steeles area. It's a great alternative to going all the way down to the Danforth. But there are still some items they don't carry. Their makeup counter was unmanned & disorganized looking when I went to investigate it. The shelves in that section also looked dusty & testers looked too well used.
Anyway, I went on a weekend & the aisles were packed with people . It was way too crowded for my semi-claustrophobic self. Hopefully its less crazy on weekdays. But as to their product selection, its pretty good. They carry a lot of things that http://Well.ca has & for cheaper on the products I was looking for. And the staff working there were friendly. Parking lot is hard to maneuver because of its small size. It's often full but people leave pretty fast so you don't have to wait forever to get a spot.
They're going to have some major competition in about 3 years though. A big Whole Foods is opening up at Yonge & Sheppard at the bottom of the condo complex that's being built there. Batten down the hatches Ambrosia!Listed in: Natural Food & Product Stores

I'm going to have keep up with the flow of 5 star reviews. It's a large, full-sized organic supermarket, kind of like No Frills meets the The Big Carrot.
The prices in the bulk foods section blows my mind. $5.99/lb raw organic cashews, yes please! I went crazy picking up little bags and loading them with cheap organic dates, flour, oats coconut flakes, yeast etc. Thanks to Ambrosia my cupboard is stocked enough to encourage more baking and cooking from scratch.
The produce section is pretty awesome, as in the things on sale were very cheap and regular priced items were what you'd expect to pay at a regular organic market. Same goes for the packaged products. I found the beauty products section to be vast yet the prices were not spectacular. (Compares with Essence of Life.)
Definitely worth the trip to stock up on your healthful foods and not spend much more than at a regular grocery store. -

What a fantastic store!
If your favorite department at the Superstore is Nature Value, then Ambrosia is a must visit! They have pretty much anything I am looking for from basic ingredients like nut butters, earth balance and vegenaise to harder to find stuff like vegan carob chips, various flours (quinoa/chick pea/tapioca) and soy milk powder. The prices are great and they have weekly specials that makes it even better. The interior is like a warehouse but don't let that stop you.
Worth the drive to Thornhill! -

It's a fairly large, roomy, well-stocked health food store - I have been coming here for years and years and years. It's out of the way but the bottom line is this:
It is cheaper than all the other places. I've price compared with Noah's, Whole Foods, etc - and Ambrosia's prices are better. Plus, the staff are fantastically knowledgeable which is amazing.
Definitely worth swinging by if you are up in, what I like to call, the T-Hill.Listed in: I'm Rockin' the Suburbs

This popular place is like the Supercentre of health food stores. It is not very glamorous inside, but with such a great selection of organic produce, packaged health foods, grains, nuts, refrigerated products etc., who cares!
They also have a huge inventory of vitamins, skin creams, soaps, shampoos, healing remedies, household cleaning solutions, literature and more.
Its' fun to go here on a Saturday when its really busy. -

Ambrosia has the best selection, service and prices I've seen in the GTA. Forget Big Carrot--you'll get everything you need here, without the pretension. The weekly specials are worth watching for on their website. I just got Nuts to you nut butter for 3.33! The bulk section has every difficult ingredient you may find in your recipes.
My only criticism is how dangerous the parking lot is... A result of their large number of customers. So bike over--they have one of the only bike racks in the neighbourhood! -

Decent selection and prices. Great that they also have meat products! Good one-stop shop: groceries, pet food, bath & beauty products, household products, health products, etc.

It's no Big Carrot but I will give 2 stars because it''s better than nothing and some of the supplements are reasonably priced. I shop there when I can't make the trek to the Big Carrot and only after I have shopped at the York Farmer's Market :) and Loblaws Health Food Dept. I detest that Ambrosia sells non organic bulk products...how can you trust the bulk items that are labelled organic??? It seems that many of their packaged items are overstocks and possibly seconds. Sometimes the produce is fresh and sometimes it's not. Their fridges look old and decrepit and make produce appear unappetizing. I had to return frozen bread because it was moldy and I bought some spices in sealed jars and they don't taste fresh even though they expire in 2013. The parking lot is a nightmare. I miss the Big Carrot soooooo much. I am not a fan of Whole Foods but I can't wait until they open up at Yonge and Sheppard...maybe that will inpsire Ambrosia to pull up their moldy non organic socks!
