I went for a Brazilian bikini wax in July of 2009. I've gotten Brazilians in NYC, NJ, NC and Buffalo and Beatrice is the best I've EVER had in my life! And I've been getting Brazilians quite a few times a year for 5 years now. I was only in Ottawa for a wedding and I wish I had someone like Beatrice close to where I live. She was the quickest and least painful waxer I've ever had. Thank you, thank you Beatrice for making this experience a pleasant one!

Amalfi Spa is located on the third floor of the Rideau Centre, right before you get to the overhead walkway to The Bay.
It's hard to really classify Amalfi under any specific category because they offer everything you really need from a day spa, and more. They offer all kinds of services, from hair coloring and styling, to manicures and pedicures, make-up and skin care treatments, waxing, massages, and wraps. You also have the choice to make an appointment or just walk in, though I would suggest making an appointment for spa treatments, as I believe there are only two massage therapists.
I had my bangs and split ends trimmed here once for about $10-15, and the lady that was cutting it took kindly to my requests. She was very sweet, it was very affordable, and I was happy that she knew how to deal with my coarse, but not straight, Asian hair.
As a Christmas present one year, I received two gift certificates for an hour-long full-body massage per visit. The service was consistent both times, friendly and relaxing. As soon as came in, they offered me a beverage - water, juice, a choice from a variety of teas, or a hot and frothy cappuccino. I arrived early, so I waited a little while on their couches for my appointment. I had the same RMT for both massages, and she was absolutely fantastic! She gave me just enough time to get settled in, and made sure the lighting was dim, the music was soft, and the oil was warm. Right away, she asked me if there was any area that I wanted her to focus on, if I had any spots that were painful or sore, or any other special requests. Now, I know none of you want to hear all the gory details of my massage, but I was completely relaxed and didn't want to walk home after.. at all. I told her this, and she laughed, and then offered me another beverage to just relax before I had to head home. I took a glance at the price list before I left, and the 60-minute full-body massage was TOTALLY worth it, and even quite affordable. I will definitely be back!
