Review from Stephene C.
Vancouver, BC
After a long morning of snowboarding, I was famished! Me and my company decided to grab a bite to eat at this restaurant. I've eaten here before, and remember it being good. That much hasn't changed. It was too bad that it was foggy and snowing like mad, the view of the city would have been phenomenal. The snow fall was still very pretty though.
For an starter dish, I ordered the angus beef sliders. They were so delicious! The meat was tender and grilled to perfection. It came with three sliders, one with sauteed shitake mushrooms, another with reduced red onions and lastly one with blue cheese. The blue cheese slider was drool worthy and by far my favorite, but then again I think almost anything with blue cheese is drool worthy.
For my main I ordered the Chioggia Beet Salad. It was tasty, but I think they made it a little too sweet and citrusy. The dressing kind of stung my throat as it went down. For dessert me and my friend shared a apple crumble which was great! I usually only like the top portion of apple crumbles, the crunchy granola with the vanilla ice cream. Not a huge fan of the cooked apples. I would be in heaven if I found an apple crumble that only had the top part and vanilla ice cream and omitted the apples, but I guess it would cease to be an apple crumble.

Really good service. The food was good too. Went there specifically for dinner with a guest from out of town. Of course you can't beat the view. Really nice place.

It might have been the day, because it was gorgeous. It may have been the seat, because we skipped the hostess stand and went and took the best table at the window overlooking Vancouver. It may have been the Masters golf tournament on TV, because that's always a good time. It probably wasn't the service (pretty slow), or the food (it was alright)... but you know what? I'm a fan. 4 stars! We had the chicken tacos (a bit dry, but nicely seasoned) and the burger (not a good burger... try something else). Plenty of sunshine and beers on tap can make any review a positive one.

At most restaurants that are famous for the great view, the food is an afterthought. You end up buying an expensive yet bland hamburger and wishing that the cuisine matched the setting. Not so on grouse Mountain.
We just loved our seat right in front of the path of the gondolas. Looking out over Vancouver, we enjoyed the relaxed ambiance and delicious food. The sausage-barley-bell pepper soup was divine, and we discussed how to duplicate it at home during our meal. My turkey-bacon sandwich was great (loved the tomato confit condiment) and the bruschetta was gobbled up in a minute.
One of the best unpretentious meals we had in Vancouver. -

After a grueling climb up the Grind there is nothing that I want more than a Grizzly Beer; beer, a shot of scotch (maybe whiskey?), lemonade, and ginger ale... served with fresh lemon. It's a delicious post-workout combo.
We ate on the patio - ordered the bruschetta to start (roasted tomatoes, basil, goats cheese & balsamic reduction), and give it a thumbs up for the bread not being soggy, it was crunchy without being too dry (which some places just can't seem to figure out!), great proportions of topping to bread and a good balance of flavours.
Three of us ordered the dungeness crab wrap with mango aioli. It was... blah. It has loads of potential, but just fell short. It needed some fresh herbs, some spice, or more mango or veggies. The rice noodles were bland and I found myself dipping the wrap into my salad dressing to get some moisture and some flavour. I would personally zip it up with some jalepenos in the aioli, some fresh cilantro or even basil. Anything!
Our server was EXCELLENT. He was funny, knowledgeable about the wine menu, and gave us a bit of sass, but not so much that we were insulted. When we expressed our displeasure about the wrap he was totally on-board (not like some servers who brush you off, or make excuses), and let us know that he'd pass along the suggestions to the chef.
So... I will go again, but unless they change up the wrap, will try something else. It is a bit pricey, but if it's too expensive for you, save yourself $30 by hiking up (instead of paying $40ish at the bottom, you'll only pay $10 to get down), and get a great workout in before stuffing your face. Totally worth it for the view, the exercise and the beer. -

Save your money! I have a hard time even giving one star, but since none aren't an option, it'll have to do. Terrible service and mediocre food. Will not be back. 4 out of 5 meals came and our server never came back. After waiting 10 minutes I got up to check on my husbands meal. When it finally did come, it was wrong.
My mum ordered dessert and it took an additional half hour, tiramisu from a box should take 3 minutes, max. not impressed at all. The manager said they were busy (which wasn't the case), and if they were it's still no excuse. If you can't handle capacity you're doing something wrong.
They took off one meal and the dessert, but didn't bring the bill until we asked for it several times. When we tried to pay, they didn't come for the bill fold to take the credit card. We had enough cash luckily.
The whole experince was brutal, they should be embarrassed. I wish I could get my two hours back. Two hours for sandwiches and burgers. -

Worst service ever! It took what felt like forever to get service every step of the way. We waited for our drinks for over 10mins, our VERY overpriced food took about 45mins, we had to hunt down our server to both receive and then pay for the bill. The staff was friendly and it seemed like they were trying their best, but it just didn't make up for the poor service and food. Just to top it off they charged us extra for bread.... I guess Grouse didn't make enough money on our $45 entry ticket, or our $25 for burnt stale nachos or our $8 draft beer!
A place like Grouse must make all of their money from tourists who visit once. I doubt very many people return. It would be cheaper and faster to ride back down the mountain and go to a better restaurant at the bottom! Actually save yourself the ticket and just skip Grouse altogether!!! -

THIS IS THE FIRST PLACE WE DID NOT YELP BEFORE WE TRIED IN VANCOUVER. :o/
When it comes to an attentive staff and good food it's just awful. Well for me it was. I went here with two friends of mine (Sept. 22.)
Let me start with the 'good' parts. The staff is really friendly and the view of Vancouver from the restaurant is extremely nice. The Mountain Nacho's were pretty good as a starter plate for the three of us.
Alright, I'm done with the 'good' parts. Now to the bad part. The service was really slow, and the food was awful. It took about 45 min. to get our food. Over the period of our stay (Hour and a half) our server was only there twice (not counting taking our order and giving us our bill.) My friend and I had the Spaghetti and Meatballs. BLAH! I prefer my 15 year old sister to cook me spaghetti. The meatballs were tough, hard to cut, tasted dry and the noodles were not cooked all the way, they also tasted a bit hard but edible.
My friend who ordered the portobello mushroom burger thought it was good. I guess I should have ordered that. Maybe the Spaghetti just wasn't on par that one day. Who knows...
I digress...
After we were done I was looking for our server for the check. She finally came after 15 min. we were done.
To top it off... The pen she gave us to sign the bill didn't work. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I ended up getting a hot dog down the street from our hotel. -

My bf and I were here yesterday. It was the first place we found and we were hungry! Do NOT go there if you want fast service. The hostess was a buss boy and a waiter at the sometime. Same goes for the bartender! Everybody was doing at least two jobs. It took them 30 min to sit us, even though there were plenty of empty, but dirty, tables. Waiter was not very friendly. He took our order and left. Someone else brought our food about 45 min later. No one checked on us. Food wasn't great, but not awful. Waiter was still MIA. We had to wave him down to get the check. That was the only fast service we got! Honestly, try to get something downstairs at the cafe if you want food and fast!

Altitude bistro is located on Grouse Mountain and the only up there is via a high tram ride. For a bistro, it's surprisingly good. We got the best seat of the house, next to the fire place over looking the tram and the dam below. The nice relaxing atmosphere and service made the $15 burger seem very reasonable.
After a long hike up Grouse mountain and visited the grizzly bears "Grinder" and "Cooler", saved by the a project that saves abandoned baby grizzlies.
We ordered a beef burger $15, and salmon burger for another $15. Salmon always tastes like salmon when cooked, but the beef burger was totally delicious. We wonder if it's the rest after the hike that makes the food tastes so great. We also ordered the Seafood chowder (for an extra $1 as an upgrade from fries) - the best we have tasted anywhere and a "must try" for anyone visiting Grouse Mountain. The steamed veggie that we ordered looked so pretty and colorful. The carrots (organge and purple varieties), asparagus, and tomatoes were perfectly roasted and seasoned for $4. Service was a bit slow, because the waitress was taking care of so many tables, but we didn't mind as the view from where we sat was spectacular.
The tram ride up cost about $40 per person, plus tax comes to $44 (that's with the AAA 10% discount).
I agree with one of the reviewers that says the food was slow. If you are in a rush, do not come to this place. If you are impatient and have small hungry children, come with snacks or don't come into this place. But if you want a place to relax and don't feel rushed or not starving, this place is pretty nice and relaxing. It took us about 30 minutes or so to get our food, but we enjoyed resting our legs from the hike and took in the view. It's a lodge, so we have to take it as it is....a lodge
FOOD : Excellent! for a bistro
SERVICE: Nice and slow, but since it's a resort, we didn't mind.
PRICE: We didn't expect food to be this good for what we paid.
PARKING: park what?
AMBIENCE & VIEW: Definitely have the ski lodge feel and the view is nice. -
Review from Swarup B.
views: check
food: not so much...
the view from the patio is pretty sweet as you can see the surrounding mountains and downtown vancouver but the food was average but over priced.
we had lunch here and i had the smoked salmon baguette which was pretty good while my wife had the mozzarella and tomato salad which she thought was OK. we also got the potato skins but that turned out to be a bad call as we had ordered way too much food. i also had gotten a small cup of canadian split pea soup which was ok but needed salt. i also tried out the granville island honey lager and didn't think too much of it.
if you find your way up here and are really hungry then altitudes will do a good enough job but if we were to do it again we'd probably bring our own lunch or eat before hand. -

The 4 stars is because of the location and the view. I would have given 5 if the service was better than the average that it was. Food was decent. do not order the nachos unless you have just done the grind or a few hours of snowboarding as it is a massive dish! We will most likely return for the view and the nachos.

$14 for a dirty burger at the top of a mountain is a fair price. After that nasty climb up, I would have paid a lot more for my frosty pint of Cream Ale and a plate of grease. Mmmm
