They make very delicious croissants and fruit danishes! They also sell overnight baked goods for 50% off and they're usually still very good. I tried their chocolate croissant and it was delicious. They put chocolate inside the croissant and they also spread it on top. The bread is very crisp and delicious. They close early though (5-6?) and usually a lot of their baked goods go away very early during the day. There's no seating but there's a small bench in the front that you can sit on if the weather's good.

Stopped in here today randomly with a friend. We tried their scones. Apparently it was a bit of an off day b/c my friend had been here before, and her previous scone was better.
My scone today tasted more like a blueberry muffin - missing the delicious buttery-ness that should come with a scone. It was also missing the harder outside, easily the softest scone ever.
But the girl was nice, and I'll try again, only b/c even really good places can have an off day. -

I had one of the best things I have ever eaten here. It breaks my heart that it was only a seasonal item - Toblerone shortbread. Lord have mercy!!!
Now nasty confession time... they sell peanut butter dog biscuits. They smell so good I just had to know. I did take a bite and they were really tasty!
So, if a place makes treats for our canine friends that are enjoyable enough to tempt me to try, how could I possibly not recommend this bakery? -

I love pie! "Then why the bloody hell are you chewing on my tie?!", the man next to me yelled while wiping the pie crumbs off of his chin.
I've been going to Altitude Bakery since they first opened, and I believe they make the best pie's along Queen Street East. Forget about the rest: pie, pie, pie...
If you don't believe me go and see for yourselves, their window is stocked with pies.
It's a tiny shop, but they still serve regular style coffee, and bagels from the St.Lawrence market.
Pie.
I'm a big fan of their apple and sour cream pie. I'll also mention the cookies because I eat two per week, peanut butter and chocolate chip, mmmmm!
Last time I was there someone accused me of eating one of the menus... Piss on you, I can't help it if I'm a goat.

I don't know about the cupcakes but I do know that this place has delicious, extremely affordable pastries and baked goods of many sorts. I live just around the corner and oy is it dangerous.
For instance, there are few things I love more in the morning than a good coffee/muffin combo. I love it so much I'm often willing to pay $4-7 for it at Starbuck's or another cafe. Once I discovered Altitude's wonderful Morning Glory muffins, however, I will not go back to paying $7 at Starbuck's again. One of these enormous, moist, texturally-varied (with carrots, nuts and raisins) delights not only pairs well with coffee, it also handles my sweet tooth and promises lots of muffin top with satisfying chewy top over a soft center. I could eat this every day for the rest of my life.
When my parents visited, they couldn't get enough of the almond croissants, and the buttery crumb-topped fig bars (enormous for just $2 or so), and the wonderful butter tarts. These are far better than Dufflet, for instance, with a lovely homemade-seeming crust (not sure if they are or not, but for presentation at a dinner party or as a gift, they offer that sort of appeal), gooey center, and a few imperceptible raisins at the bottom offering a nice chewy texture just along the bottom. My parents also liked the price at just $1.65 a pop.

New staff at the front make a nice change from the grump who was here before. Also a must note: try the cinnamon buns!! Good heavens! Beats sweet bliss hands down. And half priced items all the time are fantastic.
This weekend we brought two pies to a gathering. One was the berry (something like "red berry") which was good. The other was apple and sour cream which was fantastic and loved by all. Like apples stuffed into a cinnamon bun (see above :). I normally loathe apple pie so this was a very pleasant surprise. Adults and kids delighted in it.
I have been going here for a year and have noticed a striking increase in quality over the past two months. Go again if you haven't been in a while. -

There are a lot of bakeries in Lesliville. They ALL make cupcakes.
Altitude makes savory pies, samosas and big cupcakes. They are almost double the size of Sweet Bliss... but they aren't as good.
Their prices are standard/fair and everything is O-K. I don't find the staff particularly friendly, and I have been there twice and spoken with 2 different people. I always get the feeling that they want me to leave.
A high point is the Sour Cream Apple Crumble Tart, which is very good - and they always have them. They also have pretty reasonable hours for the area, and I have been disappointed in the past by Sweet Bliss being closed at random times I think they should be open.
In summary, I think Sweet Bliss is better (and it's right up the street) but Altitude is OK and has 'different' stuff (like savory pies). -

Sour cream apple pie? Okay, I was game. I needed a dessert for Christmas dinner at the in-laws. Looked great in the display case. Then again, most pies do for me. Also bought some cookies. Gingerbread, brownie, chocolate chip, and oatmeal looked great too!
Sorry to say it was sort of a disappointment overall.
The pie tasted alright. Would have preferred more pie crust than apple, which was overflowing. Something about the gooey filling put me off, even though I am sure it was fine. i ate it and lived to write about it.
The cookies did not reflect enough care. Sorry, don't mean to nit pick, but I had similar cookies from Queen of Tarts in Roncie and just loved those cookies. They also did not taste stale.
Spending close to $40 on pie and cookies, then feeling disappointed is not a good recipe. -

I've been going there over the last few months and I must say there is some really yummy things there. i've tried the cookies, scorns, rum balls, and danishes and loved them all. I have to say though the staff are a little odd, never feel like they want me there, and that I'm annoying them when I ask them questions. They seem like robots. Almost want to give it 3 stars out of 5 but then I remember how good the peanut butter/chocolate chip cookies are. Cookie monster would go crazy there. oh well, it tastes good in my tummy and I forget about them when I leave.

I got excited about a bakery being even closer to my house than Sweet Bliss, but like others I was duped. The cupcake I ordered was stale and the icing tasted like whipped Crisco. Certainly nothing to get excited about.

Yes, the baked goods can be yummy but the service is indifferent at best. Each time I have gone in to buy something I have had to wait and wait for someone to come out of the back to serve me. I have even locked eyes with the person in question and not gotten so much as a "be there in a second". On my last visit I finally gave up after 5 minutes and walked out. Ended up buying a birthday cake at It's the Icing on the Cake. Excellent cake, excellent service and half the price. No more ATTITUDE!

Sob. Altitude used to make wonderful cakes. Several years back, the icing went all crisco-y, and it hasn't been the same since. They probably still do some good stuff, but I don't go out of my way to buy from them anymore.
