The Allencourt is the best ever. Mary and Tony rock. The food is amazing. Going for dinner is like going home.

This place has really gone down hill the last few years in terms of service. I do not see the faces there that I used to and whoever is running the place now has not made customer service a priority. The wait staff are inattentive and sadly quite rude.
The last time I went I was brought the wrong side order with my dish because the one I ordered was "out of stock" - never heard that one at a restaurant before. Instead of asking me what I wanted instead they assumed I wanted fries, and when I said I did not like fries it was a big production by the staff to change my side when really it was their error in the first place. I am not an unreasonable fellow and am actually quite patient, but these people were sadly very rude :( ordering my dinner turned out to be a very awkward and frankly confrontational experience.
I regret to say that I will not be returning to this Richmond Hill Oldie! -

I was taken here a while back and honestly thought that my brother was leading us to a back alley to shoot us. But to my surprise he took us to a little diner that is hidden away in the back corner of an old plaza right by my house.
Upon walking in, the first thing you think of is old diner. The decor is old and rustic with an open kitchen and a tiny tv in the top corner that plays cp24 all day. The chairs are terrible to sit in and everything just looks like it was from the '80s, which it probably was.
Once you order though, that's another story. Typical diner food like all day breakfast and what not are a staple. The eggs are always cooked to perfection, I like mine over-easy and I can't tell you how many places overcook them. The food isn't drenched in grease but there is a little bit of sheen on it. Home fries are phenomenal, best I've ever had. And they serve real breakfast sausages, not like other places that serve wannabe breakfast sausages.
This place is a Richmond Hill staple and I don't see it going anywhere. There's always a group of locals that have their table and sit there all day and all night chatting with each other and all the other regulars. The owner is still the cook and his wife is still the waitress, except for Sundays when it is their day off. Great place to come and feel like you've transported to a real homey diner. -

Every small town has it's diner and at one time Richmond Hill was a very small town and that is when Allencourt Restaurant opened up. In all honesty I'm not sure how they are still in business because they have a terrible location in a town that is not what it once was. That being said, when I was in high school it was a rare treat when my friends andI would venture over to Allencourt and order either the fish and chips or the banquet burger. Then I had more of a predilection for the banquet burger, but now adays I prefer the fish and chips. Allencourt makes no attempt to be anything other than it is, it was opened in the early days of the cold war and it's design features are still reminiscent of the time. The food is cooked to order and the hamburgers are hand made and not from a box. The cut their own french fries and here is one of the few places where I choose to get french fries because they are so crisp and delicious. I can recommend Allencourt to people who live in Richmond Hill and are looking for a more rustic dining experience than is offered elsewhere in the city.
