Review from Jenny G.
Richmond, BC
Every seat is taken every day at lunch time. The locals obviously know something. Good, homemade lunches at low prices. It is also "community" and people here know about the chi (energy) from having like-minded good people around you.
More than just another eatery, this is the only community-minded gathering place in the area. -
Review from Roanna Z.
Given the fact that the monster in my belly had taken over my body, (and rudely I might add), and that we found parking right out front, and this being our main reason for coming to Alegria at all, I have to say it wasn't a bad experience!
At first the owner, confronted with said monster had bitten her tongue and closed her eyes while silently in her head repeating a mantra before replying.
In plain English this is to say that she found the best way to deal with my odd requests (based on my limited diet, and fear of small cafes not being able to provide,) was to comply.
Thank you, seriously.
A scoop of Egg Salad, A scoop of Tuna, on a bed of greens, and hardly anything more turned out to be just what the monster needed. I wouldn't say it was a celebration, but it was adequate.
Friends had a Tuna melt, (really only half a sandwich), served open faced. Each side a diagonal slice off the other with the Tuna and some melted cheese. On the side 2 baby carrots and a cherry tomato accompanied. If this were a deal, say under 6 dollars, I'd give it a nod, but it was nearly 7.
The layout of the cafe is cute with local craft for sale as well. The kitchen feels more like that of a home than a cafe.
Would I return? I would say maybe not but for the fact of the garden out back. A very redeeming quality indeed.
