I've taken quite a few courses through the Alberta Distance Learning Centre, so I could finish my high school. The people that work there are actually extremely helpful and nice.

The courses are very expensive, but you can apply for a loan or subsidy. I found the course packs to be well written and the assignments were relevant and challenging. You can contact your teacher for help at any time. Also, they have courses that were not available, when I was in high school, like World Geography and Legal Studies.

Since this is distance learning, you work on your studies at home. You need to be self-disciplined for sure, but the benefit is you get to work on stuff on your own time and at your own pace.

There are exams, and all you need to do is make an exam appointment and go downtown to the ADLC building and write your exam in a quiet room.

I definitely recommend taking courses through the ADLC, whether you want to finish your highschool or upgrade.
