Thank God I tried this salon as Hive was fully booked for this weekend. My stylist was very professional and gave me a great haircut (layered bob) with chestnut brown highlights as I wanted. For your convenience bring a photo of the haircut/color that you would like to get. Incredible job Klara :) I will be back for sure.

Oh no I didn't! I cheated. I cheated and I don't even remember her name. I decided to try out Air Salon a few months ago but I just forgot to write this review. *dust's off my brain*
It was a rainy day, so I parked in the undercover parkade, it was free as long as you entered the salon to get a "permit", which you then had to go back to your car to put on the dash. It was my first time at Air, from a suggestion from a friend.
My hairstylist was a female japanese "non-master" stylist. She was pleasant and polite. Firstly, as I sat in a massage chair, she washed my hair with her magical hands that massaged my scalp into a puddle of pleasurable mess. I complimented her graciously. From there I was seated in a comfortable chair in front of a brightly lit mirror with plenty of magazines at the chair-side. I gave her pictures of what I wanted because my Japanese isn't like it used to be (kidding, i know nothing). The hair cut had a lot of layers, which would require a lot of shedding of my long hair. My stylist would stop every so often to ask if it was okay and such, and each time I would tell her it needed more layers or thinning and such. But I think because she wanted to be careful, since a lot of hair needed to be chopped off, she didn't quite get the hair cut I desired. It was taking a while and it seemed like she didn't want to go further with the already huge pile of hair on the floor - so i decided to call it a day.
My head felt lighter and the trim was good but my bangs were a fail and the style just didn't come out as I wished... then again that might be my high standards for my hair. Anyway, I paid my $50 and that taught me to cheat on my original stylist who knows me, and is willing to go at my hair like a mad woman.
Regardless, good service and I'm sure if I were more patient, I would have eventually gotten the look I wanted. -

I love my hair :) It's like the "coat" you wear everyday, so I'm very picky in choosing a stylist.
Decided to try out a new place in Richmond Centre. The place was modern looking and very spacious......and I was surprised and happy. The staff was friendly, the same girl that cuts your hair is the same girl who washes your hair (I didn't feel like I was passed around from one person to the next). The stlist was polite and listened to what I wanted. I also liked the fact that the stylist in the end didn't put a lot of products in my hair, just a little wax and I was good to go. Oh, the price was super reasonable too, around $70 (including tip) for my super long hair. -

I came here just today to get a haircut. When I called yesterday for an appointment they had asked me if I preferred a Japanese or Taiwanese stylist and I said it didn't matter. What I SHOULD have said was for someone who could understand English properly. Nick was my hairstylist and he did a pretty good job on my hair and took his time, but there was definitely a language barrier there. Also the prices are quite expensive, I only had a trim and it was still $44 + tip.

Gave Air Hair Salon a try because Chura was fully booked and I needed a hair cut before going away on holiday.
When I called for an appointment I was given a choice between a Taiwanese or a Japanese stylist. It didn't really matter to me so I just told them either would be fine.
They're located in the shop fronts under the new apartments on the corner of Westminster and No. 3. I was told to park in the BMO lot and was given a parking pass.
I got there at 10:15am on a Friday for my 10:30am appointment and everyone in the salon were busy doing their pre-opening cleaning. All the clients were herded into their rather small waiting area but that's fine as we were all sat down for our appointments after a few minutes.
My stylist's name was Kae, a very sweet girl who was pretty fluent in English so we had no problems communicating. I left it up to her to recommend a cut and she did a great job. Most importantly she cut my fringe perfectly, I'm rather finicky when it comes to my fringe so this was a plus. Kae also gave me the option of finishing my hair with either a straightener or curling tongs.
I opted for their "Master stylist" at $40+ for a ladies cut. My final bill came to just over $50 including tax. It's pretty pricey in my opinion, maybe it's because I'm used to Chura prices where I can get a cut plus tip for just over $35. You're really paying for the massage chairs, the head massage, the décor and the extra attention the stylists give you.
Minus 1 star because I'm still grimacing over the price. -
