The Maple Leaf Lounge in terminal 1 saved me when my flight was delayed several hours. I have been here a couple times -- if you know someone who is a Star Alliance Elite member, sometimes they get guest passes and such.

    What I appreciated:
    - More quiet and spacious than the rest of the airport
    - Open bar
    - Lots of snacks (e.g. veggies and dip, bean salad, soup, ravioli, chips)
    - Newspapers in English and French
    - Free magazines, including Toronto Life, Style at Home, etc.
    - Showers! (you have to go to the front to get a key)
    - Computer stations in case you didn't bring a laptop
    - Free wifi
    - Nice washrooms

A relaxing way to pass the time while waiting for your flight!

Terminal 1 Maple Leaf Lounge - International flight Canada to Hong Kong

Biased as I may be, I hate anything Air Canada. And yet I had to take an AC flight to Hong Kong - another review on that. My parents and I made a bet to ourselves that the Maple Leaf lounge would be packed (for a Saturday morning) ... and we were right. No seat was available, luggages everywhere, people everywhere, chaos at best. But we weren't disappointed because my parents and I already knew this would happen. Our back up plan? We knew the Priority Pass lounge would be empty so let me share a trick with you.

The Maple Leaf lounge has a great and wide variety of magazines. We ended up collecting 12 different magazines so we could read in the Priority Pass lounge as well as on the plane. Both lounges are relatively close by to each other so if you have the Priority Pass card, or the Platinum/Centurion American Express card (which allows one complimentary guest to access the Priority lounge) head over there if Maple Leaf is mega nuts.

All in all, terminal 1's Maple Leaf lounge was a complete let down. You probably would have access to more seats at your departure gate.

I love AC Lounges. So much better than United's Red Carpet Club, and personally think it is much better than Lufthansa's.

    My one downside...kids.
There needs to be a bit more of a crackdown on people who bring their kids and let them run wild. There should be a specific area for people who bring kids, and have it separate from the business travelers. I have seen United staff crack down on people before, and I applaud it. I am a very heavy traveler, and sometimes need the quiet space of the lounge to work in between flights. People changing their kids diapers, or having them loudly play in the same area as business travelers is poor service on AC's part.

This lounge is definitely average when compared to airport lounges in other countries. The whole point of a lounge, I think, is to provide a secluded and calming area with perks, like food & drinks. If the entire terminal has a tendency to be pretty calm, compared to other busy airports, well then it becomes as useful as this lounge.

    Perks:
-Decent washroom. Better than Terminal 1 washrooms, anyway.
-Snacks, liquor available. Check timings for complete info.

    Downside:
    -Uncomfortable seats
    -Bad service
-Free Wifi is available throughout the airport anyway
    -Boring, sterile ambiance

I rated this lounge 4 stars because I am comparing it to the Maple Leaf lounge at other Canadian airports and find this one seems to be better for the most part.  There is generally more selection of both foods and drinks.  The problem with some of these are they don't seem to have the staff to keep everything full and presentable looking.  Since this lounge is bigger they seem to have more staff and are able to keep up.

Relaxing enough environment with adequate area to do work, read, or look at planes out the windows...

This place was positively a ghost town. We had our pick of comfortable chairs and quiet places to sit. Located right after the security area to the US, it was a decent place to spend a few hours between flights.

Unfortunately the free wifi from Pearson was actually faster than the lounge's free wifi and the dinner snack offerings were slim pickings. Because we were among the only patrons we could hardly put down a glass without it being immediately whisked away by staff.

Yay for the isolated, sound proof children's area! A kid "cone of silence"! That alone bumped this rating from 3 stars to 4 stars.

As part of Star alliance, I was able to use this lounge for being a member of United. Any international lounge is better than all United lounges in the US. So, I can't complain.

Lounge was a good size. Free wifi. Breakfast had cereals, oatmeal and fruit-yogurt and toasts. Not as good as other international lounges but again better than any lounges in the US.

    Happy Travels~

    Where else can you relax?
    Star Alliance Gold access

Complementary snacks, beverages including beer (after 11am) and booze with plenty of space to relax before your flight. Surf for free but that's not a stretch since all of Pearson offers free WiFi.

Although the total area is large and offers a separate children area (greatly appreciated), the lounge feels small. The raised area in the center breaks up the floor plan for a chopped up deal. Still, more room than you'll get on the flight.

Compared to lounges in around the world (HK, London T1, Beijing, Tokyo) Maple Leaf is below average but compared to US lounges (LA, DFW, Chicago, San Fran, Denver) it's way above par. I guess that puts it right in the middle.

    Very nice airport lounge.

Excellent service.  Once I'd left my wallet on a chair, and boarded the plane without realizing.  Imagine my surprise when a flight attendant came to my seat, delivered a message that was sent to the pilot from the ground control that my wallet was found and put on the next flight to my destination.  I was SHOCKED (in a nice way) that this had been all arranged before I even realized that my wallet was missing.

Obviously I don't have a similar "lost and found" experience in another airport to compare to (thank goodness).  But I am quite convinced what Air Canada lounge had done in my case is world-class customer service.

Complimentary food and alcohol really set the Maple Leaf lounges apart from other North American airline clubs.  And plenty of seats, internet access, and clean restrooms offer additional comfort.

Sure, like every lounge, it takes longer to check in here than it did for your flight.  And some of us regular visitors wish they would change up the hot soup schedule...why is every Thursday the same chicken and rice and cream of mushroom?  But these are trivial in light of the simple, but important benefits mentioned above.

I generally refrain from referencing anyone else's reviews, but the folks giving this fewer stars because of very specific lounges in fantastic places are better?  Come on, of course they are.  But by that same logic, no restaurant could ever score above 3 stars because The French Laundry and El Bulli exist somewhere in the world.  And that isn't the point of the rating system.

The domestic and US lounges are good but sometimes packed to the rafters.  The AC lounge is acceptable with some extras (such as having Guinness on tap.)  However, I'm pretty surprised by people who give it five stars.  Those that do are travellers who obviously have never travelled to places where they have far superior airport lounges for frequent travellers.  Just to name a few, Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific lounge and London Heathrow's British Airways lounges are far superior and may deserve 5 stars especially if you're in the first class lounge at Heathrow.

The food is really mediocre at the AC Maple Leaf lounge.  I mean the international lounge serves this Olivieri pasta and sauce which is horrendous.  I don't eat such prepared foods at home, and would expect something cooked rather than reheated out of a can and bag.  This is what you get when you've paid several grand for a business class ticket to fly overseas?  That's just lame.  The BA lounge at Pearson for business class travellers provides a proper buffet dinner!

The domestic and US lounge is a bit better with slightly better food, but still pretty lame.  Just head over the priority pass lounge as a comparison.  It's quieter, and again with better food.  They serve hot breakfast, whereas AC lounge?  Nada on the hot breakfast side.  Cold cereal is not breakfast.  It is convenience food for the under-priviledged.

The Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge for Transborder flight at Terminal One is one of the nicest airport lounges I have been to.

It helps that it is relatively new. There are so much space. You will never feel cramped together nor have problem finding a seat.

All the drinks here are self served. They do have beers, wine, hard liquior.. and you can help yourself and down your drinks with some salty pretzels and peanuts.

They also provide free WiFi access, but you do need to contact the front desk for a password or you can use the computer terminal they provide for free.

A nice and quiet place to relax before your flight or to get yourself together after lining up through check in, US immigration and Security check.

Today was a good day at the lounge.  Veggies fresh and crisp, chips stocked,  cans cold in the reach in cooler and it was not too busy.
