There are certain things you come to expect when Euro touring; the Parisian bread, wine and cheese is going to be amazing, the Dutch have got their cheese and pancakes down to an art and the Germans make beer like the French make wine - exceptional.
It was something unexpected on my travels that has me sitting in front of a computer in Munich, Yelping a review about - an airline...
Let's start with the plane: It's friggin nice! The fit and finish is of one you'd expect in a (no surprise) a German car, its interior color tone is modern and comfortable. The seats are made by RECARO! - Anyone who has an affinity for motorsports, like me, will know that Recaro makes world renowned racing/luxury seats usually found in top shelf autos. Next is something I've never seen before: Ever get a sore neck from trying to look out the window at what you're flying over? Well Air Berlin has taken care of this for you by rotating through several exterior cameras on the plane that show you what you are flying over, on the TV monitors above you.
On my 1.25 hour flight, I had 2 complimentary drinks (Coke lime and sparkling water were my choices). They ask whether you would like a salty or sweet snack, so I chose a large german pretzel, lined with whipped butter, pretty decadent if you ask me compared to a bag of bulk nut mix.
Throughout the flight I grew more and more suspicious that the air hostesses CARED if I was actually enjoying my flight (i know, wacky right?!). Just to give you an idea of their attention to detail, before each flight they will reset the position of the seatbelts to a V shape on every seat (sorta like how a hotel will fold the tip of the toilet paper in the washroom after maid service).
I will leave you with, "Wenn es nicht deutsch ist, ist es crap!"
